  1. The Robotech sites may also be more popular simply because Robotech is better known than Macross--- unless you're willing to put a Robotech somewhere in that title (please don't!) you might have to live with your small group of loyal, dedicated fans
  2. "Can you valkyrie that varja for me?" Hmmm... doesn't seem to work that well
  3. Dude... EVERYBODY knows you should throw in a smiley when you make an attempt at humour on the internet .
  4. Wait what?? I just don't get the negative vibe that's on these forums nowadays-- random flamewars breaking out, and now this. I was trying to see who would be kind enough to be the first one to review this product for the rest of us! With all the criticism of the toy so far, it would be nice to see if the criticisms would be refuted or confirmed. Attitudes like your statement are certainly not contributing to the board as a whole. Remember, there are people who do like this toy and are highly interested in its durability, poseability and overall looks besides those shown in the promo photos! Is the toy really more durable? Does it look as bad as some people have said? Do the legs really hang that low, and does the VF-25S really not have a neck-- or are those just mis-transformations? All these are worthy questions that I hope some kind (and relatively richer than me) soul will answer, so that we can all share in the joy of a new toy! Chowser: I think the 1/72 VF-25 kit is as close as you will get-- I don't think Bandai will release a 1/72 fighter only VF-25 that would compete directly with their pre-existing products! A recent release of Model Graphix had a build of the 1/72 kit in fighter only mode-- if you want the scans I can send it to you ( got it off some kind soul who posted it on this board). Alot of puttying is required though, as might be expected.
  5. All I can think of is to use silicone to make those! heh..
  6. Hmm.. the last few posts were Pete and myself goading each other over the release dates, not a bitchfest Oh well, maybe we can have a roll-call to pass the time! Who has pre-ordered the DX 25F or 25S? Time to make yourself known!
  7. No-- it still says december, which is why I said less than 14 days rather than give a specific number Sorry for getting your hopes up man. Did you pre-order this?
  8. Wait-- does the cost of getting replacement parts through places like Overdrive include the cost of the parts themselves or just the cost of shipping+ admin fee from Overdrive?
  9. Less than 14 days till release! Will anyone be getting the 1st production run? Or is everybody going to hold off and wait for someone else to bite the bullet?
  10. Yep, and my precious 1/72 VF-11B is now retroactively in the correct scale! Heh...
  11. I thought it was a link to a modeller who actually had the money to do some drastic battle damage to his 1/60 kit!
  12. I see, thanks for your explanation! I think the problem with the VF-25S (except the neck) is the lower camera angle that they took the picture at compared to the VF-25F, making the torso look shorter and closer to the hips/legs. About the neck though... heh. Could it be that they are using the same mistransformed figure over and over again and no one pointed it out to them? Or that they are too lazy to take new promo pictures and are re-using the old ones?
  13. Yep it is very easy-- you don't even have to cut the male part connectors down which is an improvement I think compared to the Bandai Gundam Seed kits that I built a few years back (I've been taking a long break from modelling!). This kit was just too beautiful not to build which is what brought me back in! The gaps in the VF-25F really are gone now, I have no idea what they did to the mold but the VF-25S just fits together so much better!
  14. Yep SDF-ONE is right.. I think the Bandai VF-4 1/100 when released is as close to it as you can get for the forseeable future, barring resin kits.
  15. They use 3 x L44 batteries-- the same kind that is used in Scientific calculators. You should be able to get it at any stationery store. There are covers on the dorsal section of the YF-19 that you have to pull out, then the supports for the fold boosters should fit right in!
  16. Haha wow... just amazing! I'm kinda resisting getting any 1/48s because I'm already collecting in 3 scales-- the 1/60s, 1/72 model kits (which fits in so nicely with my older fighter models that I just can't give it up, and I find some pleasure in building) and the Bandai 1/100s when they come out (because of the variety that will be available)
  17. Wow it looks great! And kitbashing a transforming valk is a feat in itself. Hats off to you! I would have liked a lighter paint scheme though, just so I could see all the details and identify the parts you used!
  18. Nice! I always like the super clean look... sometimes I prefer it over weathered! On the VF-1 it looks fantastic!
  19. She should wear a better fitting bra! Incorrect bra size is a major cause of back strain in women (its true!) among other problems
  20. Just completed my VF-25S, and I must say that it is gorgeous! The build is pretty straightforward that even a newbie like me couldn't screw things up. Overall, the fit of everything seems to be tighter compared to my VF-25F-- especially the hip/intake guns. The sliding mechanism of the feet also seems to be tighter-- I had to disassemble the right leg and file down the inside of the sliding mechanism so that it wouldn't break the ankle trying to pull out the legs! Does anybody know if the subsequent production runs of VF-25F Altos have the same improvements as the VF-25S? Edit: I did a really quick build (sanding+panel lining(using pro-modellers paneling wash--cant say enough good things about it!)+stickers) because all I wanted was something that I could play with while waiting for my 1/100 and deciding whether to get the DX or not. No transformations yet, but the wings seem to be stiffer also and don't flop down when the plane is held upside down--might be because this is newly assembled though. Still, overall everything seems tighter than the VF-25F that Zebu build for me (thanks!)
  21. Well, to tide you over, you can get a 1/100 from Bandai when it is released.
  22. Thats a really unique perspective! Maybe the folks at Bandai were thinking the same thing, Japan being an earthquake prone country and all. Imagine some guy coming home to a collapsed building... pulling his VF-25F out of the wreckage and it is in perfect shape
  23. Speculation is about half the fun of any Sci-fi series
  24. Oh... I guess I'm just of the generation of internet users who are used to seeing all their fansites in html rather than wiki! Makes me feel old
  25. big +1 to this... I just got ahold of some and tried it on my eurofighter model kit, which is kinda my test kit for any new coatings, paints etc that I want to test out-- it even works on bare plastic, for all those who want an accurate, no fuss, near-straight build+stickers applied 1/72 VF-25 model to replace the horribly proportioned DX toy. It stays on even through some handling, as long as your hands are dry. I'm doing to matte coat it next, which should improve its resistance to rubbing off while handling the model.
