Wow that's great! Hopefully that will push Bandai into making an international release!
-
I doubt that both companies would make the the same model in the same scale-- the direct competition wouldn't be good for either company. So, if a 1/60 is made, you either get a chunky monkey but durable Bandai made, or an accurate but fragile Yamato made. It's six of one, half a dozen of the other. Personally I'd prefer Yamato to make it because I'm too young to have been bitten by the chunky monkey bug so accuracy matters more to me. On a tangent, does anybody know why Hasegawa didn't release a 1/72 for the VF-4? They seem to be missing out on quite a few VFs that I would've thought they would make, like the VF-4, VF-11, VF-17 etc..

TGIF indeed. Actually your first set of pictures makes it seem like your destroids are pirouetting on the spot All that's missing are the pink tutus.

This makes me very happy too! Even if I haven't received my VF-25F yet (where are you Angolz!!!). Thanks alot for the info, Radd. Can you provide any photos? Edit: Now, if only I could make my 1/72 model kit's hands fit... unfortunately the model kit has hands that are of different widths so improving the perfect transformation in this way requires scratchbuilding skills which I don't have. -
Haha your series of pictures (both the first set and the second) makes it look like your Destroids are dancing!

Seriously? That's sad... I thought that Michael's VF-25G was supposed to have an exclusive release of the Sound boosters+ backseat Ranka ala Alto's Super Packs, and kind of expected that they would make the backseat block replaceable for all the VFs (since the cockpit is the same regardless of variant). -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

SK retconned the size of the VF-11 to be more in line with what is shown in the anime, so the VF-11 should be about the same size as the YF-19/21, bigger than the VF-1. -

Looking forward to your review Graham! Have you resolved the issues with the missing VF-1 v2 and YF-21 reviews yet? Edit: A shout out to all those who have received your DX toys-- is the block behind the pilot seat removable to accommodate a second seat and pilot? -

I emailed them and they said that they would be getting stocks this coming saturday-- I guess we'd all be getting ours within the next 2-3 weeks? -
Well, we are going to get a 1/100 VF-4 from Bandai, so I guess if the sales are good, either Bandai or Yamato will be enticed into making a 1/60?
-
The lengths that you will go to, Graham O_O. Much Appreciated!

Sweet. Does the guy who built all these have instructions or anything?

Oops my bad. I must be imagining things! On second look the chest pieces are indeed the same. In comparison with the GA Graphics pictures I think they just printed in gray spots for the sensor bumps instead of moulding them like on the model kit. Crappy cost savings by Bandai...inaccuracy... *mutter**mutter*... Cancel last message then. Edit: Jenius, is the head on the VF-25S collapsible like on the model kit? If it isn't, that could explain why it seems to squashed as compared to the lineart, another point of inaccuracy for your review, one which has little to do with durability and everything to do with cost cutting (like the chest and back plates). -

Well, assuming all the numbers are used up to VF-27, and including VF-3000 and VF-5000, there are more even VF numbers than odd. However, among the 'main' VFs, we have the VF-1, VF-4, VF-11, VF-17, Y/VF-19, YF-21, VF-22, VF-25 and VF-27, which makes for 7 odd numbered VFs and 2 even numbered ones, so yes, it does seem like the odd numbered VFs are featured more often. -
The swing bar for the legs and and landing gear is about the only visible diecast for the VF-1 v2

Oh yea.. I would like to see a VF-27 with a normal cockpit, which is what the VF-26 might be. -

You're welcome . I agree with you fully on the collapsed ankle issue. Also, I think someone did calculations, either in the earlier part of this thread or the Ver.2, and the length of the DX in fighter mode is indeed to scale with the anime. I'm not sure about the Battroid though. However from nugundamII's pics I think the 1/72 Yamato Isamu fits nicely into the cockpit! nugundamII: Haha your comparison makes me think that the DX fits in really well with the 1/72 Yamato line! I guess it will go great next to my VF-11B! (Sold off my 1/72 YF/VF-19s once I got my 1/60, unfortunately) -
Just checked out your amazing site-- the dates for the releases are one year off, 2008 instead of 2009!
-
I actually like the VF-1 Max without the blue and black stripes on the chest piece... it looks much nicer in fighter mode, and looks just as good in battroid mode.

Great review Jenius! I posted some comments on your site. Also, opposite to TCracker, your review convinced me not to get Ozuma hehe... I think the bendy head lasers are just too much for me. Also, the DX looks wayy better without the ankles extended, the proportions, while not anime accurate, look more natural that way (and since we are already sacrificing so much accuracy in other areas, might as well go with something that looks good). Ultimately, fighter still looks to be the nicest mode to me. Edit: I think you made a mistake with your comment about the same chest and back plates for the -25S and F. The chest plate is clearly different from your photos, given that the -25S has 2 bumps for the additional sensors. I think that looking at the model kit gives us a better explanation of why the head sits so low-- which is the collar piece (which is different for the -25S and F model kits). Some kitbuilders who used the -F collar piece instead of the -S collar piece ended up with the same neckless VF-25S. I suspect the same problem is occuring with the DX-25S -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
edwin3060 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yea it seems like Yamato is really kicking it old school with the slew of VF-1 and Destroid releases. It's probably to capitalize on the nostalgia of all those who watched Macross Frontier and the upcoming movie . Oh well, anything that gets Yamato to make more valks is a good thing!
