  1. I have to admit-- comparing the (admittedly low quality) pictures in the release and the DX-25F in my hand, I can't see a difference-- proportions wise, the 1/100 might as well be a scaled down DX. That Gerwalk mode looks very promising though, at least compared to a non-modded DX. Also, the head lasers seem to be more poseable, which is a good, though minor, point.
  2. Hobbylink Japan or Overdrive are probably your best bet.
  3. I think it's best to either partially disassemble the model into the major components to convert it to super mode, failing that Battroid is probably the next best mode for conversion since all (or most) of the parts that you need to remove are exposed. I'm going with the first route since I'm going to display my VF in fighter and I want to make sure everything fits together nicely! (If possible)
  4. I see thanks! Lucky for me I can grab a pipette pretty easily if I need it. You probably have to order online to get it!
  5. Drifand: How can local dealers stock up on the Super pack if it is a web order exclusive? That would be good news if it were true! Any idea where it will show up? CSC? Sunshine Plaza? Protostar8: I don't know about you, but to me the bulk of the Super Pack makes the exposed area of the fighter look slimmer and more true to the lineart, which is good in my book. OmegaD3K: Do you have an DX Ozma you can try it on? I hope it works as well as it does on the Alto! No more fiddly shakey head! Once you lock it down the whole toy becomes as solid as any non-transformable humanoid toy, which is amazing in my book--an unexpected +1 for Bandai! sh002: From what Graham has said so far, you need to cut out and mail in an order form for the Gallia IV sets (i.e. Ghost fighters or Soundbooster pack) which basically means no one outside of Japan can get it easily, which would suck big time if true. Why must Bandai make such exclusives when the demand for such items is so great?!!
  6. The partsforming of the Bandai allows it to be more accurate, judging from the pictures. Not only that, but the fact that Bandai is releasing a whole line of them, including VFs from every show in the franchise, is a very big pull factor-- Yamato just can't compete in this area.
  7. Sweet. I cant wait to see the finished product! If I may ask, what are the bullet shaped objects in the background in the second picture?
  8. Rule of thumb-- if it doesn't look like it will fit in place, then it's probably a replacement part. sh002:Can't you just reverse engineer it from the original instructions? I'm pretty sure the left and right shoulder parts come out first, as they are the last pieces to go in.
  9. Perhaps they are waiting for the movie before they release it? I'm pretty sure alot of the BGM will be reused, especially if they are re-using the animation as well.
  10. I must say, the more I play with the DX, the more I like it--I don't really handle my Yamatos because they are too fiddly--they don't lock together solidly and parts that are held together by tabs sometimes fall apart once I touch it or pick it up. Every transformation is also a gamble because it is always a pain trying to get everything to fit back properly again. So the Yamatos end up as display pieces. With the DX, on the other hand, everything feels solid in both fighter and battroid-- I even found a way for the head/neck piece to lock in place in battroid, solving the last floppy part. Because everything locks together with a click, I don't have to worry about transformations. So it is much more fun to play with and transform. I guess it grows on you like the Chunky Monkeys-- the value of the DXs goes beyond accuracy or looks! I am very disappointed by the low set legs though-- I was one of the first to propose that the legs without super packs were low to make space for the super pack armour, and am sad to see that I was wrong. I'm pinning my hopes now on the movie edition toys for greater accuracy without sacrificing durability! (A slim hope, I know)
  11. None of the VF-1 v2s have been 'fixed' but I think the standalone had a higher number of broken shoulders than all the other VF-1v2s
  12. Sweet, thanks Graham. Any other Macross goodies in the magazines that you got?
  13. I think that's what everybody is hoping for!
  14. Thanks for the scans, Graham! Any further information about how the Gallia IV sets can be ordered? Will Overdrive help us order if we have ordered the Luca and Michael? On a related note, I've stumbled upon how to lock the neck into position in Battroid mode-- once you have transformed the DX, with your forefinger on the top of the back plate and your thumb on the base of the cockpit, push down. There should be a slight click and your neck will be locked into position. I haven't got my VF-25S yet so I'm not sure whether this will make the neck look nicer, but those with a VF-25S can try-- from the angle of the neckpiece on my Alto, I think it will improve the looks of the Ozma! Will take pics once I get my camera.
  15. Oooh nice to know that the overcomplicated shoulders are actually good for something!
  16. There isn't much news, other than: 1)Its coming out in June 2)There will be (minor) changes to the VF-25 3)Klan Klang will have a bigger role
  17. Bandai will wait till the pre-orders for the Ozma Super Pack have closed, or else they'd be cannibalizing their own sales. Still, I'd expect the pre-order for the Armoured pack to come out before the movie, or just before. I have my DX-25F next to my 1/72 VF-11B now and they look about the same quality... except that even back then, the Yamato pilots were so much more detailed Still, I'm pretty happy with my toy, especially since the wing glove area all fits together nicely unlike some of my model kits!!
  18. Oh well, one of life's imponderable little mysteries then.
  19. VF-11B to be released in April.
  20. Anyway, I agree with SDK: A broken screw on the VF-25 is much easier to fix than a broken shoulder on the VF-1 v2. If this is the weakest point on the VF-25, then I'd say that Bandai achieved their goal of durability. On the other hand, is it just me, or does it seem like Bandai is always one step behind Yamato in the toy design department? When Yamato was at their 1/72 Mac Plus stage, Bandai was at the 1/65 Mac 7 stage. Now that Yamato has moved beyond that, Bandai looks to be at the Yamato 1/72 stage in terms of design accuracy and overall quality of their toy, less, of course, the QC issues. Bandai's 1/72 model kits, on the other hand, are fabulous, no doubt due to their experience at accurate, yet fairly easy to build, model kits from all their Gundam shows. Still, I wouldn't want to take one of the model kits into the shower with me, while the DX toy looks like it could survive a good scrubbing P.S. Cent: Hence my wish for 1/60 PG, PT kits for MacF. It'll never happen though
  21. Not until they get multiple valkyries each...like when the movie comes out in june! VFTF: I'm going with both-- the 1/72s for display and the DX for playing-- the 1/72s are really too fiddly to play with-- or transform, if you like the fighter mode. Once you transform the model kit, it is nigh impossible to get it back to an acceptable fighter mode, while the DX toy locks together nicely so there are no worries transforming!
  22. I think the caption is talking more about the BLC intake-- it's just that the wording doesn't give any firm indication as to where the intakes are.
  23. Mine would probably have resulted in a break if I had not heard about your accounts-- I'm certainly not willing to test the shoulder joint!
  24. Great videos! I just got my DX-25F today so they were really helpful. Thanks!
  25. Steel is probably one of the strongest materials around on a cost basis-- if it's made right. The problems are probably due to a bad batch of screws exacerbated by the overly tight shoulders.
