  1. Yep March. Just when Gundam 00 is about to end. I wish they'd release it like, now!
  2. No one is saying that it couldn't work-- I think we are just trying to get a grip on what the effect such a large caliber would have on the aircraft. It's true that armoured vehicles and European aircraft guns have calibers 25mm or greater--- the F-35 has a 25mm gatling as well. But regardless of whether you are talking about an armoured vehicle, or the Eurofighter, remember that those are all single barrel cannons. VF gunpods are multibarrel gatlings with a firing rate at least 3-4 times greater than what we have today-- looking at the nice link that was provided the closes analogy is the Mosquito's 57mm 6 pounder gun-- called the 6 pounder because its ammunition, naturally, weighed 6 pounds. Imagine firing a 6 pound round at ~1000-3000 rpm and you can understand the insane amount of recoil the VF has to handle.
  3. I see. The way that those two sentences were translated makes it ambiguous though. I thought it referred to live ammunition for the laser machine guns (which could be possible if they used COIL or any other chemical reaction to power the laser rather than a solid state laser). You should probably put that in brackets or something.
  4. Well Gundam SEED had head gatlings that worked as CWIS but I get your point Because of their higher G ratings-- +35.5/-19.5 for VF-19 and +60/-45 for the VF-22 vs 27.5G for the VF-25 (and only for 120 secs). Granted, the VF-19 and VF-22 have less powerful engines and would not be able to even generate such high Gs in space-- but in atmosphere it is another matter entirely due to the control surfaces available.
  5. +1. I don't understand this part though: "Deployment of live ammunition was waived due to problems with internal storage and equipment miniaturization introduced by OT. " Didn't Roy clearly slice through missile warheads with his head lasers? Also, I guess the Battroid section solves the question of whether the ECA functions in fighter or gerwalk. Thanks for the translation, Azrael!
  6. Going by the VF-25F thats coming out, it should be. The only questions remaining are probably the durability.
  7. Nice, I see you panel lined your DX-25 as well. Did you use Gundam Markers?
  8. They probably used the SMS logo as a generic cover. After all, it would be giving alot away if they used logos specific to the series the valk is coming from.
  9. Thanks. we need a high res of this
  10. Thats certainly true-- however when I'm talking about velocity in space I'm actually referring more to the travel time of the bullet and how it affects the effective range of the weapon-- bigger, slower bullets would take longer to travel a given distance, thus giving the enemy time to react and evade etc. Hence the gun would need to be fired at a shorter distance to reduce the reaction time of the enemy. There will be a direct relationship, so a bullet that travels 2/3s as fast will only be effective to 2/3s the distance. The Saint: Actually the VFs are about the size of modern day fighters and about the same mass as well. Given how much the A-10 vibrates when firing the 30mm GAU-8, and comparing the difference in reaction to the 20mm M61A1 on other fighters, I'd say that 55mm is a very very big step up!
  11. I'm not saying that they stick to their old SW1 equipment. I'm saying that they stick to using Macron-sized equipment rather than Micronizing themselves to use human sized equipment.
  12. Could you have had a damaged copy? Both my 1st version VF-0A and my re-issue VF-0S have good landing gear.
  13. Well this is gunpod related And no one seems to be throwing a tantrum cuz they lost an argument so I think we're fine. While absolute range is less of a problem due to drag, the important thing in space, I think, is velocity--the shorter, fatter rounds will generally have a lower exit velocity and thus have a lower effective range even in space.
  14. Strength doesn't directly relate to G tolerance.
  15. Ooh did you use a gundam marker for the panel lining? Also, any further details on the neck mod?
  16. Well, it is really limited. I saw one go for 160 USD on ebay awhile back.
  17. That's a Valk-girl that became more Valk than girl! Still wearing her high heels though.
  18. I suspect VFs gunpods are optimized more for short range and outright blast damage rather than long range and armour penetration. Taken together with the micromissiles, VF combat at a whole has been (deliberately, I think) made to happen at short range for dramatic effects.
  19. I would think that the majority of the Zentraedi fighting forces would still use their own equipment in Macronized form, whether it be due to tradition, or what they're used to or superior strength etc when Macronized. Additionally, with the information from the MChronicles, I think we can say that micronized Zentraedi don't have superior G resistance-- or that it is not enough to matter. Guld still killed himself in the YF-21, afterall.
  20. The VF-11B actually looks the nicest out of all the 1/72 MacPLus valks. I guess that's the benefit of being made last.
  21. Nice.. I like that look myself.
  22. The re-issue Millia doesn't have a pilot figure either.
  23. If that was the case, and given that the G problems were already showing up with the YF-19 and YF-21, why aren't there more Zentraedi's flying VF-19s and VF-22s?
  24. Haha I see it now. Oh well we shall see then.
  25. That's true. We'll know next month I guess, when everybody gets their 1/100 VF-25.
