Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!
edwin3060 replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I just got my invoice from HW Japan, so I should be receiving mine in about a week or two. As it is, I'm glad that they managed to incorporate a few improvements over the DX, like the ventral fins, the back of the legs in fighter mode and the landing gear. Also, the canopy isn't bright blue! Still, overall proportions are more or less similar to the DX, and the lack of a pilot figure is disappointing. Looks like I'll salvage some pilots from my Yukikaze kits that are languishing then .The GA graphics pictures also makes it look like the hip guns will be a problem again, just like the 1/72. I will definitely transform my figure once I get it! -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

I'm impressed that they managed to tampo print the macross logo just below the cockpit. -
Actually, choosing a plastic that doesn't break may be harder! Especially given that the parts are moulded in colour, which means that they have to use dyes etc. To see if a piece of plastic will break if you torque it after say 5 years, you actually do have to leave it there 5 years and then torque it--- there is no way of testing the material any other way that will allow you to extrapolate the life cycle. Yamato does have many, many problems with its engineering design and maybe choice of plastics, I'm just saying that in this ONE instance, they really should not be blamed. I mean, you could demand that Yamato leaves a hundred YF-19s in their basement for 5 years before transforming once to see if it cracks, and then doing a statistical analysis to see if they should really use POM for that part, but that wouldn't get you anywhere.

They may be producing all these new toys just to boost toy sales and make their bottomlines look better-- remember, everybody is struggling in the current economic climate, and IMO the most productive way to generate cashflow is to come up with a new product, rather than cutting workforce or downsizing operations.

For those of us who don't understand all the economic gibberish, like me, the simplest way to put it is that the economy will always have it's ups and downs. A simple rule of thumb (that works for Asia and as someone has said, South America as well) is that this cycle takes about 10 years So now we are in a down period, but things will look up again (and of course, eventually crash again).

Its Mei'i'N--- thats right, three syllables. Man.. why do they make it so easy to spend money!

Well, if the Varja got so close to your capital ships you're kind of screwed anyway, given that ridiculous antiship cannons that the red adult versions have. Better to float around in space than land and get blown up along with your carrier! -

Hmm compared to what? -
+1. The VF-0D is more important than another VF-0S!
-
But how many of those toys have thin plastic parts necessary for anime accuracy? If that part of the neck was wider, the entire rear end would have to be wider. Granted, not by much but that may still have been a factor. Either way, it has only occurred in two cases so far, so I'd say that those were isolated cases-- heck, Bandai has had more broken screws for the VF-25! Let's not get our panties in a bunch over this.

+1. This looks to be the best scale and an acceptable price to be a completist in. Not to mention that it will include valks from every single Macross series, which is something Yamato will never be able to pull off (given that Bandai has exclusive rights to M7 and MF). Looking at it another way, this is about 1/2 the size of the Yamato 1/60s at about 1/2 to 1/4 the price-- so it is quite worth it IMO. -
Because the US is still the world's biggest economy? Besides, what would be a suitable alternative for the US Dollar? The Euro? The politicians over here can't even get their act together on what to do about the economic crisis.

Someone stole the whole machine?
-
I guess that would be me then see my 2nd or 3rd post above.
-
Ahh well, that may explain it then. I've been watching the subbed TV rips all these time-- saving the BD/DVD rips for when the whole series is out so I can watch it in one go! I guess this: " shaky and blurry to impart a sense of movement when the scene is playing" may help some people into thinking that the VF is blended into the rest of the scene better, but to me it actually makes the VF stand out more and look artificially implanted into the background.

Which means that Bandai's 1/100 pilots for the 1/72 VF-25 should've been 1/144 pilots then But yea, I wish he'd gone with a one piece canopy like the F-22. Or at most 2 piece like the F-16. P.S. With the new JHMCS for the F-35, the pilot is basically looking at the inside of his faceplate/goggles anyway. -

At least it is still possible to get the packs without coupons--- so Overdrive can come through for us in this area like they did with the Super packs. As for me, VF-25F: Battroid mode, Super packs VF-25S: Gerwalk, Armour pack (when released) VF-25G: Gerwalk, Gallia IV set (when released) w/ Banpresto Klan beside it, hopefully able to rig an attachment to the super packs. RVF-25: Fighter, Super packs, w/3 Ghosts. (When released) -
Yep! I'm prepared if the banks go down or if the money goes Zimbabwe like I guess . Still, no one is going to insure you if that wad of cash under your pillow is stolen at night. If your money in the banks go down the government basically has to pay you back. So I'd rather take my chances with a good bank.
-
Yep... if you want durable toys you end up with the Bandai DX VF-25... Every part is thick, which contributes to an overall chunky design. Yamato has no choice but to go with thin plastic in order to replicate the looks of the toy.

... You need to see the used panty vending machines that they have over there.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
edwin3060 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Looking at the Yamato stands thread the VF-11B seems to have been sized back to the original proportions i.e. VF-1 size. At least in Battroid mode. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...mp;#entry720767 -
Looking at the Battroid mode pictures, it seems that the VF-11B is closer to the size of the VF-1 than the YF-19!! Does that mean that SK has decided to go with the original specs afterall?
