Bandai VF100's Official Thread Ver.2
edwin3060 replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yes-- decals. Those are also more fragile unfortunately. Someone in the model kit forums mentioned using a thin coat of super glue before sticking on the stickers, so that might work as well. However, my Bandai Gundam model kits which were stickered up still have their stickers stuck on, even after 5 years now, so they should be fine. Let's not derail this thread any further. -
They changed it after someone here on Macross World pointed it out and Graham mentioned it to Yamato HK---and then got back to us saying that Yamato told him that the colour would be changed. So yes, I think we did contribute to the colour change.

Hmm.. my tab hasn't broken off my 1/72 VF-25F, but then again I don't force the tab into the slot too much since the whole mechanism seems tight enough to hold position even without it... As an additional point, if you just get the model kit, build it up, and apply the stickers, you basically get a line-art accurate, 1/72 MF toy-- which you can easily panel-line if you want, just like you can panel line the DX or the VF100. Things like clear coating, decals etc are for if you want to treat it as a model kit and not a toy. Hopefully I will get my VF100 in a few days and can evaluate all three (DX, 1/72, 1/100) together-- but as of now what I can say is, if you are short on funds and have even a few hours of leisure time, I would recommend getting the 1/72 over the other two. -
Simply amazing! It looks set to become one of Yamato's best releases yet. The fact that they listen to our feedback on things like the colour of the logo makes it that much better!

While most of the counterpoints are true, the one about fragility is probably not-- the stickers that come with the model kit are no more fragile than the paint on the 1/60 DX toy,and probably the VF100 as well-- and assuming you want to build the model kit as a toy you would use the stickers in the first place anyway. The kit itself is probably more durable than the VF100 toy, due to the parts being bigger and all. -

The Bandai VF-25 cockpit is actually a mini micro-miclone chamber, micronizing micrones! -

Looks like the Fold booster will require the new holes to fit onto the VF-- which justifies the need for the RVF/-25G to have those holes as well. Still doesn't discount the feeling that Bandai rushed the first two releases out without proper planning though. -

Except that these holes will apparently be on the DX RVF-25 and VF-25G as well--- it's as if Bandai was producing all the Altos and Ozma and suddenly realised-- oops! we need more holes! Re: Landing gear length-- all the info we had so far is that they would be changing the landing gear bay doors, not the landing gears themself. I'd like longer landing gears too--- and looking at the lower part of the legs having longer landing gears could be easily achieved by having the 1/60 YF-21 design of folding landing gears, and the front landing gears could be extended if they didn't have that useless hidden waist joint. -

The funny thing is that they had the perfect locking mechanism in the DX toy and didn't copy it even though they copied some unnecessary features from the DX -
I think that as long as you don't have to do any parts-swapping, it can be called perfect transformation. Bandai has an even looser definition of 'Perfect Transformation' with their DX toy requiring you to swap the hands and store the gunpod holder somewhere.

Unfortunately you can see how the wings sag with the weight of the Super pack in Gerwalk mode--- and from the fighter mode pictures the hip guns are still out of place Oh well maybe it is mistransformed just like the Battroid mode in the pics. Nice to know how good the RVF-25 looks without panel lining though.

The DX toy is not a model kit, or a resin kit, or a scratchbuild! Drilling should be strictly unnecessary! Besides, you can't fix the landing gear bay hinges even if you have a drill. As to the holes, whats the point of having some there and some missing anyway? The DX already has holes for the Super parts. It just shows that Bandai wasn't looking far ahead enough. Hopefully the Armoured VF-25S will look good... -
Hopefully the next VF release after they are done with the VF-25 is the VF-27--- it's the only other MF VF to have appeared (even if only as a scratchbuild) in the Hobby magazines, after all (ignoring the 1/100 VB-6). On my wishlist: VF-25 Armoured VF-27 Q-Rea VF-171 (and variants) VB-6 Canaria Custom --- it should only be about the size of a PG Gundam or so, afterall Varja And hopefully, in their EX line of model kits, Battle Frontier Macross Quarter Battle Galaxy Varja Mothership Unfortunately, that will only happen if Bandai treats Macross Frontier like it does Gundam I still remember all the kit merchandise for the whole Gundam SEED+Destiny series, with probably about 100 different model kits (counting all the re-colours and MSV) and EX kits for the Skygrasper, Minerva, Archangel, Eternal etc... Oh well, one can dream. Which is a pity, because I think the designs for Macross are wayy cooler than Gundam.

From what I can understand, 15 in each body mounted missile pod for a total of 30 (not including reloads), plus whatever is in the wing booster pods (3 launchers each for a total of 6). -

Further disappointments for the VF100s line.. sigh. -
Were they undersize even according to the original specifications, or are they called 'undersized' now that the crash investigations are over? Because if they were manufactured to the wrong specs, I would agree with you, otherwise, it could be simply an overestimation of the strength of the part, which would be a materials problem.

You're going to have to point out the blurry ones if you want them, because I don't know which ones you have problems reading. Also, I think its pretty silly to go with an animation count when half the time we're trying to rationalise animation mistakes here. We probably already have an official source that says it is 15 missiles per missile pod and even details the number and type of each missile. It's ironic, because while Mr March is probably waiting for your translations before he updates his website, you are using his data to justify your count? P.S. Just to be clear, we are talking about the body mounted missile pods and not the wing-fence mounted booster pods right?
