Here is the REAL item comparison! This is the comparison between the 1/60 TV SP and the DYRL SSP: I don't know why I do it, but here is the comparison for the 1/48 counterparts.
-
Here you go! TV version: DYRL version: The arm armors are different~ The color is not accurate from the offical pics though. The TV version should be lighter in fact. One more thing: for 1/48, Yamato does have the TV version pack produced accurately. Only that it only comes with the Hikaru 1J deluxe set. Well, you get the right thing from M&M 1Js too, but you couldn't very well use them on other valkyries.
-
As a perfectionist... The SP from 1J has a different color, different arm armor, and without the strike cannon! And you have to choose between the UNSPACY logo or skull logo! No, I can't live with that!
-
Yeap, I am from HK so I get my hands on the 1J much earlier. If I can choose again.. I probably would have bought the VF-1A w/o the SSP. I mean, I also think I need only one set of SSP among VF-1A(H) and VF-1S(H), but as a box collector, I want the the Hikaru 1S in full SSP set. Strange mentality, isn't it?

Yes, I own 3 1/60s now... And the collarbone thing is a sore sight to me. To be fair, 1/48 has its bad moments too, but just that I am talking about the 1/60 this time. It depends on how you pose it... But whenever the view is from the top, that neck and collarbone area looks... so toyly to me. It's like the engineer couldn't hide or at least decorate those parts better. Interestingly, I don't feel the same for 1/48 while they have the same mechanism. Probably it's the fuselage that affects the perception of my human eyes? (human eyes are so unreliable; to me, VF-1J would look slimmmer than 1S because of different stripe color) And about the VF-1S Hikaru, I didn't see any wording about "exclusive" there. No worries!
-
They didn't say so in the description (say, unlike Tomahawk weathering), and Hikaru 1S should be regular item too.
-
Thanks for the photo at the show. But this photo shows exactly what I like the least about the 1/60 v2: the neck and "collar bone" and fuselage area.

I am sold. BTW, don't forget the arrow on the head! Make it black and it's TV version. Put in the "glove hands" as well, now Yamato you have the limited TV edition Super VF-1S.

Overdrive now offering replacement parts for Yamato

Thanks for the suggestion! I am not complaining cuz they are doing everybody a favor and I should be grateful. Just wondering if my requests were lost or rejected or anything... -

I am thinking about it again, IF that is the case, we are talking about the same materials (the basic VF-1S, packing and tampo), same factory, same worker, so same as skillful, and so it's the same product we are talking about. The difference is only that Yamato didn't authorize it; but otherwise the products are identical. It just feels funny... Again, I don't want to accuse anyone. Just a theory I think interesting.

There is a review in http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/k...enig_review.htm in case you haven't looked at it. I don't know... This particular model (I mean the toy, not Monster) is not very appealing to me. Probably as a transforming toy, it has to compromise on the overall look. But if Yamato re-issue it, I still may buy it. I was bidding one last week but I stopped once it went further than its original price. Not dying for it.

Overdrive now offering replacement parts for Yamato
ff95gj replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
May I ask if anyone has heard from OD after submitting a request? I've submitted twice (on different parts), but I have never received a confirmation. Don't know if my request would be handled or not... -
I have just got mine too... But it looks okay to me. I mean, you know for bootlegs, somehow they just never get things right. The printing quality (of the slip cover and the little notes from Yamato, the tampo) would be crappy, etc. But one possibility: it's the factory workers (who did the officials) making this. There're no new materials at all for the toy; a worker can buy a VF-1S himself and air-brush it, and the product would look exactly the same. Of course, provide that he is able to get the slip cover, the note and the tampo to throw together. But if everything is done in the same assembly line, this is quite possible... This is just a theory, a possibility, not an accuse or statement of fact! Just as well there is someone who ordered a large quantities, and he just decided to start selling after the market digested the first batch of supplies. Or now he needs the money in this tsunami.

Just tried to check how large a 1/48 SDF-1 would be. And then I just found that it's only 1210m in length! http://www.new-un-spacy.com/sdfmacross/macross.htm Is the information on this page correct? If so, it's only 25m in length when 1/48'ed. Not impossible to build in a theme park! =D

Oops! I almost replied "no", cuz I thought the "fins" are the flip-able ones on the backpack.
-
Exacly what I've done! Never good at painting and air-brushing myself... Only need to paint the arrows blue on the head by Max-1A switching. If you are interested, here are a couple of more of the batch of photos: http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/thread-79468-1-1.html

I have posted a thread on the HK Toys Daily forum; and it seems that no one has suffered from any shoulder on the 1J. However, no one has the problem on 1S too. Please interpret the result yourself.

Valkyries will grow on you... Pick one for the next! Bad quality photos, good quality valkyries!
-
I NEED the Reactive Armor.

Personally I think the Yamato 1/48 model is almost the largest size a transformable toy can get - or, the size of PG Zeta Gundam (which is around the same range in size). When you make it bigger, there are joints which might not able to withstand the weight and break easily. 1/18 means 70cm in battroid mode, and it will very probably become an expensive and fragile toy.

A link to the offical site: http://www.cmscorp.jp/products/gkf08_lynn_minmay.html It would be 170mm in height. 4500 yen is a bit steep for this size... But looking from the front, it's the most anime-accurate Minmay I've seen! (the side is less as good though) If you are 50-50 on buying or not, now go and re-watch DYRL!

Oh, it's a pre-order... THE pre-order... Because the re-issue has been announced in April, and till now... Not to spoil your mood, just for your information.

Where did you find your VF-0S? Is it with the Ghost pack? I want one too!
