I notice that it takes more time to manufacture this model. The intact Defender would be released in Dec; and the destruction process would take 2 months.
-
Huh? They can restrict products from other companies? How about Bandai Macross toys?
-
Hi! I am new around, just been here for a couple of months. For 1/48 Yamato transformables, you may check what you have missed from here: For the new 1/60 line, there are the VF-1S Focker SSP VF-1A Hikaru SSP VF-1J Hikaru Super Parts Upcoming: VF-1S Hikaru SSP (Dec 20) VF-1D (Feb 09') Interested in Macross Zero or Macross Plus too?
-
Queadluun-Raus are niche products for sure. The shop owner said he would get those for preorders only. VF-1S Hikaru is much more popular I am sure... Christmas time... Santa is red and white... Hikaru 1S is red and white... BTW, I have just got the re-issue of the Focker 1S SSP today. It's a red December for me.

I tend to believe many people missed this news, not that they are not excited. So allow me to post again: From Yamato site, updated release dates: VF-1S Hikaru SSP: Dec 20 M&M Queadluun-Rau: Dec 18 Forgive me if you don't care about the Hikaru 1S anymore.

Is that display stand from Ikea? I have one that looks almost identical. Actually, I don't have it. My wife does. So my VF-1s are still sitting in the boxes, except for 2 who stand beside my computer desk (look here! I'm talking about you guys).

News Flashing: From Yamato site, updated release dates: VF-1S Hikaru SSP: Dec 20 M&M Queadluun-Rau: Dec 18 Stop dancing there!
-
Welcome! And your pics are incredible. How I wish I have such a nice display!
-
Calm down... Personally, probably a longer nose would do. I understand if the canopy is shorter than that in the anime. But the shorter nose is because that Yamato decided "it would look better in battroid mode". While I know why they did it, I like the scale of the old 1D better. BTW, I don't need an excuse to dislike a design.

Yes, they are, and it would be in the month after the SSP version is released.

Overdrive now offering replacement parts for Yamato
ff95gj replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Eh... No details yet. They just confirmed on my problem, and told me that the part should be available. They would contact me again when the parts arrive... As I wondered if my request was accepted previously, so I am already happy that I am now in their list. -
Yes... I was tempted to buy one when I first saw its pics on the web. Very nice model. But then where I learn about the size, I decided to wait for a bigger version. Again, it looks nice, but weird if placed next to my valkyries. I am not asking an enormous model, but I expect something that is of similar height head-to-head. I know it won't be cheap... But in that case I am more willing to pay.
-
I have reserved mine too, but it is sad that the old 1/60 looks better than the version 2. I know many people love the version 2, but I am still not impressed... It's good, but is it that good?
-
Just in case you missed... You can buy the fast packs separately. Sorry if I misunderstood you.
-
It looks nice on its own; but it looks too small when puting aside with my 1/48's. And it's not cheap either...

Overdrive now offering replacement parts for Yamato
ff95gj replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I just want to say that my prayer to Overdrive was answered. I am happy to know that my problem would go away soon (my 1/60 VF-1S has a black stain in the chest; small, but readily visible). Thanks, Overdrive people! -
Comparing the new 1D with the old one (both Yamato 1/60)... I found that I like the old one better. The new one has the nosecone too short? As they wish to be more "balanced" in battroid mode for the 1/60 v2 series I suppose. Old: New: Yamato, sell us the 1/48 VF-1D!
-
Let me do some calculation too! The current exchange rate of HK dolalr vs Yen is 0.083 A VF-1S SSP costs 13440 yen, convert to HK$1115.52 However, the local shop only charges for HK$788, that means 788/1115 = 70% of the suggested price. Convert back to yen, yen 9408. As this is not an "overstock" price, this means even when selling at this price, the shop can make a profit (although I know their margin is not high, but there is a margin). This is the price from the shop; on top of it, we have the HK distributor. Suppose they make a margin of 10% (including the transportation costs), they bought it from Yamato for around 8550yen. This is just a quick guess. In fact, the price in HK is cheap maybe because the shipping cost is cheaper from China to HK.

I really have no idea how large is the Yamato Macross toys market. If it sells VERY well, I should have seen them in almost every toy shop, but I don't. When compared to Bandai, Yamato does not enjoy the economic of scale - that Bandai can allocate the big fixed costs over large quantity of products - and so we can expect Yamato goods to be more expensive than Bandai's. The scale is now so different between Bandai and Yamato, and you can imagine how much easier Bandai can manage costs. - It has more power to negotiate with suppliers (cheaper costs on raw materials and services). Losing Bandai means losing a lot of business. - It has more power to negotiate with distributors (higher prices to sell to distributors). Losing Bandai means your shops won't have items like, Gundam. What would a toy shop without Gundam like? Now look at how Bandai and Yamato charges... I think Bandai is greedy, and Yamato is careless (in QC).

Yes, it says they accept preorder before noon Dec 15 .
-
According to the shop owner from whom I frequently buy from, there's no news on the Tomahawk OD yet. I mean, he hasn't received the price info to place orders on them. On the other hand, the Defender should be released before X'mas.

I like his death in the TV series better... He went back for the pineapple salad... So he died of a pilot, but died as a lover.
-
The 1/60 VF-1D is scheduled in Feb 09! And hell, I want that uniform too.
-
Who is Focker in DYRL? For someone who watched DYRL before watching the TV series, probably Focker is just the old, careless guy who is rude, stupid enough to get drunk before flying, got ambushed easily and died fighting some nobody. Not the ace pilot, charming and witty, mentor and big brother we know. BTW, I like the Max TV-1A, Max 1J and Max 1S very much. I do like his DYRL 1A and Queadluun-Rau too, just not as much. He is so cool.
-
I agree with your impact theory! My fondiness (word invented) of Focker started from the days of TV series, it's Focker for the #1 to me. Max 1S number 2, and Hikaru the third. Maybe I am just jealous...
