  1. I never buy that one... The valkyrie is not "final" in the show, but in some other linearts? And of course he's "happy" with the DX... It wouldn't be nice to say "I hate it but I need to push it out of the door". When the next generation of MF toys releases (not until a few years from now), we may learn more truth in another interview. I understand that there are compromises to be made; but I am unsure that with current technologies (look at all those Chogokins!) we need to compromise that much.
  2. Thanks for the information. I am still confused though; the events are between the TV and the movie? "Between" means the timeline (which shouldn't be I guess?), or "some events are true in TV, and some events are true in the movie"? Thanks again everyone for the education.
  3. Wait a minute... I am confused... The TV series is not telling the true events? Who said that?
  4. Great cockpit design.
  5. So strange then; with gravity it should rest on the pointly part. There's also a "button" (argh! my poor limited English) thing to click the thing in place. Have you tried to slide down a little bit besides slipping it on?
  6. I (kind of) decided to hold my breath and NOT buying this one, in case they really issue a TV version later. No, I can't have 2 SDFs in my home. I don't know even if I have space for one! 1/2000 SDFs are Space-Demanding-Fkers! P.S. As usual, I don't know how long I can hold my breath.
  7. I think you should slip the pointy part of the flip-wing (whatever you call it...) under the booster.
  8. Thanks for the sharing, master Godzilla! Me too, my heart has a special place for the 1/48. 1/60 v2 is nice, but the 1/48 has qualities that are irreplaceable by the 1/60. Besides the chicken hands, I don't have complaints for them. But then the 1/60 fixed-pose (left) hand works very well. I am not going to sell any of my 1/48 collection (unlike some MWers), and I also intend to keep all the boxes for them (would throw away duplicated ones though) in foreseeable future. Not the same story for the 1/60s though. I have very limited space here... And I still envision that I would place my 1/60 VF-0, 1/60 VF-25 and 1/48 VF-1 together. BTW, finally I get a DX VF-25, and that is a nice toy for sure. But that reinforces my feeling that Bandai makes toys, Yamato makes collector items. P.S. Bandai can make collector items too; I love my GFFMC Psycho Gundam Mk1 and Mk2. But the DX is just a toy.
  9. In the real Macross universe, DYRL is only a movie, so Max never piloted a VF-1S... I think? Sorry that I don't remember that flashback scene...
  10. It's not the first time I go through the pics, and it's always something to behold every time I look at them.
  11. Stupid me (old guy, bad eyes)! I am not even aware of that! Thanks for telling! Frankly, when Alto firstly switched to VF-171 from VF-25F, I didn't know at all until some time later.
  12. Maybe because the VF-25S has a bad bad neck? Well, Alto is the protagonist, after all. In fact, that was my thought when Macross Quarter left, and Alto pilots the VF-171 instead. I was thinking smart: "hey, isn't this the Gundam Mk2 -> Zeta Gundam, ReGZ -> Nu Gundam formula to sell toys?" But it turned out that the VF-25F remains the hero valkyrie throughout the series. Why didn't they paint Alto's VF-171 red and black? Then we have something new to sell as Alto Custom. BTW, I don't think they still have VF-25s once Mac Q left, otherwise Alto wouldn't have to fly the VF-171. They may though, let Alto pilot a VF-27 Alto custom. Forget that "only cyborgs can endure it" stuff. He's the hero after all!
  13. Of course they can do it that way... (or else where does the Minmay Guard 1S come from?) But traditionally, S-model is meant for commanders. I'd prefer to preserve the tradition.
  14. That's my point then... Unless Ozma dies, Alto can't have a S type. Even then, maybe Michael has to die too or defects to the side of Galaxy/ Vajra.
  15. They didn't pilot a 1S at the same time, did they? If Alto has to have a 25S, please just make Ozma missing, not dead
  16. I just imagined myself; but VF-25S doesn't look very right with that color scheme. And if Alto gets a 25S, Ozma must die
  17. I totally agree with you. With the previously inflated price, it didn't worth the price the shops were asking for. But finally, the two criteria have been met: price dropped and they sort of have a revision (holes on the back) in place. From what I've read from the forums, there isn't much to fix, except for the 25S neck and cannon which they are looking into already. I take it that it's the (almost) final version for "TV version". The standalone VF-25F was like US$164 (and still is), but the VF-25G with super parts is US$147. The exchange rate is fair enough for me. I am not sure what is the "international price" for it now though... And frankly, while I decided to collect the whole DX Skull squad, I am still not very impressed by the toy. The floppiness of the "attached" super parts is annoying, and the paint work can be better (when compared to the Y-goods). I cannot complain about the durability, however. It feels really sturdy (again, without the super parts).
  18. No worries; the skull logo on the backpack is for you to choose (stickers, obviously). Black, blue, red or green.
  19. Yes, there is the standalone SSP for the new 1/60, it's even on sale on HLJ (2850yen!). I don't think they would release a SSP set, as they plan to, they probably would have done it first like the VF-1S Focker/Hikaru or the VF-1J/VF-1A Hikaru. Just for a side note; the Max VF-1S never uses the SSP in the movie. It looks cool with it though.
  20. There's a guy on TD, who regards the "VF-1J Stealth Type" + "SSP Stealth Type" and "SS VF-1J Stealth Type DX set" as different models. He gets all the weathered 1/60 destroids too. Now that is a completist!
  21. 1/48: Macross Zero: 1/60 as of Dec 31, 2008: Things that didn't get into the photo: 1/60 VF-1D 1/100 VB-6 Monster 1/60 YF-19 25th Anniv 1/60 M+ Fold Booster 1/48 TV Max VF-1A (on the way to my home) DX VF-25G

  23. Look at the neck! The proudly held-high chin! More reason for me to get into the DX line, now that the price is right (in HK), and also because of the floppiness of the model kits with super parts. The model kits are still great to look at, but I really dare not to transform them.
  24. Pretty much the same thought here... I am in mid-thirties, and I watched the original Macross around 10. At that time, Macross was something new, something innovative (just like Star Wars IV). After a quarter of a century, there is another Macross. What do we want from it to be "Macross" and up-to-date? I believe every person has his/her ideas. And to me, Macross Frontier has done a good job to revive the elements and told a new story successfully. Again, there is no right or wrong in liking the show or not. Personally, I like the characters in MF. Some people complain about the depth of the characters; but in my perception they have done better in MF than in DYRL (too short to do much), M0 (even Shin has no character), and M7 (whatever). I didn't really like the VF-25s until after the show. The design is good, but I wasn't thrilled. Until I know the characters, I start to like their vehicles. And then I want them badly. So it's the characters that lead me to the mechas. And in terms of the story... I rank it the 2nd best in the Macross universe (haven't watched M2). Never liked the M0 bird god idea, wasn't satisifed with the M+ storyline (AI rebels... seen too many times), and I don't know what to say about M7. While this is not new, MF carries the message that human beings are so isolated owing to bad communications. And many wars come with mis-understanding and/ or different cultures.
