  1. Yamato? M7? So they've got the license?? I am waiting for the M&M VF-22 then!
  2. Just for an update; Yamato offical site says April 29 for Defender OD. P.S. It's actually Khaki Green, not OD!
  3. The offical site says April 29, along with Defender OD.

    yamato's next move

Didn't he say non-VF-1? >> Expect some interesting non-VF-1 repaints soon.
  5. I respect people with different preferences. I suppose Yamato would come up with something more lineart accurate. Less durable (the current 1/60 v2 is durable enough for me) maybe, but more pleasant to look at. I don't "play" toys now, and I want poseable nice-looking units for display. So I like the Yamato way better.
  6. Max 1S and 1A are out in Japan! Pic borrowed from Yahoo Auction JP
  7. I just checked Yahoo JP auction, and I don't see many destroids lying around or at a cheap price. I guess it isn't doing bad? In Hong Kong, I still see some on the shelves, but the price stands, so I think it's doing okay too. (it's obvious here that if something is overstocked, the shops will chop the price real soon ) Anyone in Japan who can share some observations on the Yamato Destroids sales?
  8. Come on Yamato! Just charge higher like the VF 11B. I think the VF11B is an all-new mold too. I thought the 1/60 new production line is all about "every single unit".
  9. NOoOoOoOoOo!!!!!! THEY MUST LISTEN TO US!
  10. I have to agree too. 1/60 is more playable, and because of the smaller size, the FAST pack feels much more secure too. Let's not hate 1/48 or 1/60, just accept that they are different!
  11. I've bought 5, but still don't!
  12. My guess is that Yamato wants to ride on the Macross F fancy; it will last till the movie at least. It's like free marketing from Bandai. And also Yamato has grown as a toy company and managed to keep up the sales (fame earned) and production (economics of scale) pace. Still, I would prefer them to slow down to 1-2 units per month. It would be better to extend the excitement and enjoyment of looking forward to the next Macross toy. The offical colors can be done within this year, the enemies and variations next year. What do we have in 2 years time?
  13. Not quite yet! I am still waiting for VF-1J M&M, and also VF-1A CF.
  14. What do you mean by "impact"? To the audience or to the Macross universe? To the audience... It depends. Somebody doesn't even notice Max piloted a 1S. Some of us think it was a classic dogfight between Max and Millia. On the other hand, the full-ammo attack from Hikaru is very impressive. I still would vote for Hikaru while I love Max more - H is the protagonist, after all. A personally feeling is that the movie is too short to portrait Max's ingenius pilot skill. The movie is cheesy enough to let Kakizaki yell "you are a genius!". To the Macross universe... I think it's Hikaru. He has the honor to kill the big bad boss and end the war. That is a bigger impact than "shooting down an ememy ace and joining her thereafter".
  15. I simply do not let her know how much they cost! I lied from day 1. Everything sounds cheaper by 50%-70% from then. Now talk about foresights!
  16. This is not a new topic... Very often, someone who loves their toys in mint condition would be sneered at and regarded as freaks. I always wonder why people cannot enjoy their own purchases in their own ways. I kind of fall between group 1 and group 2; I open the toys, but I keep the boxes too. Not merely for transportation purpose, but that the box is part of the package. The toy itself is still the main dish; yet a nice package, retained in good condition, adds to my overall enjoyment. Also when I was young and toys were bought by my parents, I learnt to treat my toys with utmost care. Many of my old toys weren't cheap, and my parents loved me enough to pay for them. Handling them as nicely as I could was a way to show my appreciation ("I know how precious they are"). Someone says toys are toys and they are meant to be played. IMHO, as things evolved, this doesn't have to be a rule. It is typical for toys to be displayed 90%+ of the time, and the owner only poses it several times in its (or his) life time. This doesn't seem to bring in critisms and sarcastic comments. But if someone who prefers to keep his goods in the boxes and feels good about that, now he is either a freak, he is wasting his money, or he is planning to sell them (and thus he is no true toy lover). What's wrong with collecting? We do not laugh at people who collect antiques or paintings, do we? You are a diamond collector and have a fist-size diamond and never plan to sell it: it is too big to actually don it. You don't plan to sell it. You keep it in a safe. "Why do you care how big and how refractive it is?" "I'll sell you a rock cuz it is the same to you anyways." Do we still ask these questions/ say these things? To be more on topic, as someone has already pointed out, even if someone gets a transformable valk for collection purpose (will never open it), it would add to the collector's satisfaction with more features and capabilities (more values).

    Passing the torch

It would be sweet to play toys together with my kid (which I don't have any yet). I've seen fathers and sons browsing the toys section in a department store, not that the father is bring the son to buy, but they are discussing and shopping together. And that warms my heart. It is a good thing to have the same interest with your kids, I suppose. Your kid thinks "My old man is so cool! He knows everything about Macross (or whatever toy interests he shares with you)!
  18. Darn! I couldn't resist (again), and bidded a Klan Klang for US$74. Saw one in the shops for $87, and told myself "nay, I'll get it for under US$77 (HK$600, that's why 77)". And then saw one on the web! Guess Sheryl is the hottest chick, and price of Klan Klang may drop a bit further. But I couldn't help myself already.
  19. I may help to answer some: When: Autumn 2009 How much: 39800 yen BTW, the Hikaru helmet is fan-club only item. It doesn't mean much to Japanese (just 1000 yen to join), but much more than that for us foreigners.
  20. From Yamato offical site: The Max VF-1S and VF-1A(TV) are scheduled to be out on April 21! Next week!!
  21. They look great! Size and price?
  22. Try blu-tack... They suppose to clip on, but it's pretty weak most of the times.
  23. Hey! What do you mean by that! No, I can't afford them (money and space). As you've said, I would be better off with the 1/2000 SDF. But then again, I think I am going to skip the DYRL SDF too, in case they release a TV one. Basing on "milk the mold" policy, that is quite possible. One may have to wait for a couple of years though. P.S. If I still live in Toronto (studied U there), I would probably get everything. Or not because it's much more expensive to buy anything.
  24. More space makes future purchases easier (I forgot how many times I said "forget it I have no space for that")! Yay!
  25. I think he bought in Canada, from a shop opened by a Hong Kong guy. The Bandai # to preorder the Yamato 1/2000 SDF... That shows how mad he is now.
