I do not judge or claim who is right or wrong, I am just throwing in my 2 cents; everything is about personal feelings. Is the DX good? -- Just like the VF100, if it is not that expensive, I would say so. (note: I live in Hong Kong, so I am kind of lucky that I do not have to pay heft shipping like some MWers do, so when I mention the price, it's pretty close to how much it is meant to be sold in Japan.) But given the current price point, I would say Bandai has abused our love for MF. You guys have no choices and wouldn't help to buy anything available; so I don't need to give my first-rate effort. DX has been priced as a Chogokin; but the resultant product doesn't look like it's in that class. I wonder how many people who have made a 1/72 kit would think the DX look nicer? It's true that the 1/72 is susceptible to scratches, and is not very playable. But it demonstrates that the lineart transformation design works; you do not need any sacrifice to lineart accuracy to make it happen. And the model kit is obviously proud of itself; on the side of the box you can see a side-by-side comparison of the lineart with the model kit. Gee they look the same to me! As an owner of 3 DX (the 4th would be the Armored 25S in June), DX is okay on its own. As a lover of Yamato 1/48 series, I adore the size of the DX too. But I can't help to compare the DX to my other Macross toys, namely the Yammies. If we use 1/60v2 Yammies as the control, it gets a 100 on the paintwork. Then the 1/48 deserves 95. The DX would get a 90 or even 85. Over-the-line, dirt and chips (though minor) upon opening the box, all these do not make me feel excited - again, the price has set my expectation. Sometimes I puzzled why people (customers I mean) would defend for the scale. It is just not right. I don't buy the durability, playability and safety arguments at all. Have someone air-brush the stripes and color on a 1/72 kit and coat it; then you don't have to worry about chipping the decals with a lot of playability. Screw safety. Somebody said chunky looks better; so in a sense they do not love the MF mechs, they merely love the DX toys. The MF mechs are meant to be slim anorexics.

I think these stands are only good for GNUs and VF100s... Otherwise, I doubt if they can withstand the weight. It was the selling point for the old stands from Yamato - expensive, but they are sturdy and heavy enough to hold a 1/48 with FAST.

The stands look so much better! I thought about air-brushing them, but now your solution is apparently much better. -
Yeah, I got the "last one" too, at least that was what I thought. When I put the changes back to my wallet, I stood outside the shop for another 15 seconds, and I saw the shopkeeper re-arranged the boxes. The kind of gesture that "cuz that is the last box and we don't have anything to put in that empty space now, we re-arrange the goods so it looks even-spaced and nice". Maybe it's their way of doing business to generate a "stocks going away fast" illusion. But in fact I am less comfortable in buying the last box in the house, for having a feeling that "there must be something wrong with it so the nine persons before me didn't choose this box. And this is cheaper than anywhere else."

I suppose that means unless you drop it from several feets mid-air, it is fine. However, we all know how rough the transportation process maybe. Throwing onto the truck; throwing on the cart; throwing onto the plane's cargo bay, same things when it landed, and more throw-arounds before it is delivered to the shops. My understanding is that the foams are for the throwing, but not necessary when it reached the owner. Unless it's a rough owner, maybe.

Thought the heatshield problem was resolved. No?

It has been the first time I see a new valk sold out within a week. (at least in the 2 locations I used to shop) Maybe they didn't order enough to sell, but nonetheless it means the sales is unexpectedly good. P.S. Heard that another shipment arrives today.

Heh. I rolled my eyes. -
I bought mine around 7:45pm... And yes, IN's Point too! 2/F. But the shop keepers were polite to me. I looked at the figure for over 5 seconds for sure... Maybe I'm just lucky. Or there's another shop there selling at the same price?

Finally, I have got my first VF100 (price dropped to HK$248 - around US$32 - couldn't wait till HK$238!). At first, when I opened the box, the first thought was: wow, now this is floppy. The back plate flops around when I handled it. The scale doesn't look quite right too; the crotch looks so big -- it's because the hips are so high. Even higher than the DX. (so puzzling for a part-former) Looking from the front, the head lasers are too narrow - I don't have the DX 25S, and I am accustomed to the scale of the 1/72 model kit. The hips/ intakes are too big. Or maybe they are just too high. (did I mention this already?) But you know what? It has already grown on me. I handled it a bit, and posed it a lot. Because it's already THAT floppy, I didn't care to handle it carefully and sparingly like the DX or Yammies. The scale doesn't look that bad with the right poses. It actually looks cool to me. The script details are fine, the paint work is decent on my 25S (not perfect, but no big complaints - some minor chip-offs, over the line, but I can live with those). It's a clean, fun toy. I think I may be getting the VF-25F tomorrow.

Thanks for the VF-25 CF pics! And it's a 003 too; is it that every squad has 4 units (leader, sniper, scout and mid-ranger), and the numbering is 001, 003, 004 and 007? -
Thanks for your work. I have shown your site to all Macross fans I know.

I won't either. After a second thought, if it is the company's valk and not mine, I would. I am doing my job by stress testing.
-
It may hurt our ego if she completes the transformation in 35 seconds.
-
They said Vol. 1, so I suppose they would do it regularly in future: http://www.yamato-toys.com/dev/movie_006_y...l?infolnk=index This time they have a demo for the VF-22S and VF-11B!
-
Frankly, while I would be blindly getting anything labled M&M, the YF-21/VF-22 has legs which are too small to me. This seems to be a sacrifice for a slimmer fighter mode; and if I get them they would probably spend much more time in fighter mode. Too early to talk about this maybe; but I am pretty confident now after how they are reluctant to do the spartan. If Yamato makes a mode, there would not be only one model coming out of it. (and so I guess there would be a 1/2000 TV SDF too! limited edition maybe, but they would do it I firmly believe)
-
Heh. I think the poses were pretty accurate, except that I could not keep the elbows in. The valk has an inflexible chest after all.
-
I am evil. I voted VF-1D because it's already out; and when the others come out too, you'll think about getting them again.
-
2 gunpods, no FAST.
-
Yes, it's in the shops already.

Haven't taken any pics for fighter mode yet... But here is a pic I took for a request to adjust the feet: -

All super parts attach reasonably well, unlike my 25G. (At least for this particular unit!)
