Sorry guys... I preordered at a local toy shop. Not a web shop...
-
I preordered it already last night. Amen.
-
Around end of June according to Tamashii web.

I think that is the black + white hybrid? I haven't watched the movie and am not sure... The script looks good thus far... And I like the movie poster design. Hope it turns out good!
-
Good question. For that one... I put it away on Day 2 and forgot about it altogether. I don't know where is it now... I mourn for raw materials used in making it and my hard-earned money.

The VF-X toy cannot be more expensive than a transformable VF, because it is transformable. The VF-X is non-transformable, but the VF-X toy is not really a VF-X. It may not be anime accurate, but I like the idea.
-
Some think they don't worth the money, but I see them as the best Destroid toys around.
-
Does it work for you?

The giants have got a giant zipper. That sucks. I would still get one though. Argh.

I agree that the first priority should be on family too. But I believe Graham make enough money that his toy fund doesn't eat into his family fund! A bit of his saving, maybe. Justifying the high price, that is another issue. Sometimes I wonder why I pay so much for a particular toy too. Thus far Macross toys are on the reasonable side. I wish to use an example of Bandai's SHF and SOC. I got these two items in the same week: SoC Ideon, over 30cm, or 40cm I think, with a good amount of diecast; the battroid is combined by 3 fighters. The 3 fighters, in turn can be transformed into 2 modes. A lot of accessories including a huge Ideon cannon and the Ideon Swords. Also the space monsters, etc. It cost me around US$109. SHF New Den-O Strike Form, around 13cm. Posable figure. Accessories: swappable hands and a sword. It cost me around US$126. It may not be fair as the New Den-O SHF is one of its kind in the line. But less extreme cases exist in a lot of places, such as the Hi-Metal VF-19 and 1/60 Yamato VF-1J.

I live in Hong Kong. These days, a good toy may only be available for a month or so and disappears from the market.. Sometimes sooner than that. Shops are just not stocking up anymore. There are so many new toys releasing every month, that they don't have to worry what to sell tomorrow. It becomes easier to justify purchases because if I don't buy it today, it would be gone next week or price shot up for 20%.

I think I understand how you feel, Graham. Because I have a small home, I reflect about it after only 2 years of toy-collecting. I also find it easier to justify purchases for small items too, so I am into Robot Spirit and SHFs. But I don't ask "for what" in buying toys, because they still give me the joy and satisfaction - I think that's what toys are meant for people. I think the next thing to learn is to let go older ones, if you plan to buy new ones - which I am still learning for my toy collection. I used to be a video game collector, but these days I sell them and free up spaces for toys (and my baby). I miss my old video game collection a bit, but I am glad they can fulfill their destiny once again instead of sitting in the closet forever.

Video games satify some of my thrist for the anime, but only last for a very short time. Once I complete the game I don't feel like to pick it up again. Toys, last for years until the next version come out... Or maybe forever.

I am not the only one who thinks it's okay but not really impressed.
-
It has already happened to me... I preordered the landing gears and fists for my Bye-Metal VF-19. I hate myself for a while after placing the order.
-
Beach Queen? I do!

It's stated on the official site that they are 1/60: http://www.tamashii.jp/item/item.php?eid=00954&pref=301

Come on, I was hoping to see some shinning examples of those comments, not just descriptions.
-
I always plan to have a local doll clothes maker to make that uniform for my 1/48 1A - and before I move my lazy end the official set is here! For 1/60 though. I don't know what my wife would think of me. Playing toys in one's late thirties is immature (which I happily do not argue about), and now I buy clothes for a robot.
-
I would like to have the TV version too. Smart move, Yamato, smart move - some losers like me won't be able to resist getting the TV version later even if I have got the movie one. Given that both are affordable, of course.

How does Klan Klang manage to fit in Q-Rare?
-
Before I sound like a Bandai hater, so please let me: I bought several GFFMCs, every Masked Rider SHF and every Robot Spirit in the Macross F and Full Metal Panic line. I'll buy 2 VF-25S Armored in their Robot Spirit line. OK, return to the topic... An uglier VF-25S is beyond my imagination.

I agree! I really would like the big companies would handle the web exclusives themselves. Say, for the Angelbird... The yen price is around 14400 (can't remember now! that is the total price include local S&H). That should be around US$175 adjusted with international shipping. But I am now ordering for over US$200. How difficult it is to ship things over to international addresses? I have no idea. In fact I have no idea why most Japanese sites do not do international shipping. I know some merchandizes cannot be shipped overseas; but judging by AmiAmi and HLJ, most of the toys are alright?

I don't work in the toy industry, so this is merely guessing: I don't regard the toy industry is shrinking - I still see a lot of new toys coming out every month, to a point that toy shops have difficulties in catching up: "How could I possibly stock up for every toy in terms of storage space and cash flow?" As a result, shops have to either give up certain models of toys, or only stock up a very small quantity. Either case, that means it becomes more difficult to see less-popular mechandizes in the shop: it may have been sold, or the shop hasn't chosen to carry it at all. So web exclusivity helps in this aspect. Regult and I are not living in Japan (you haven't moved, right?)... So we do not purchase online for such items. We still go to the shops, and order the web-ex items through them. If we can order online ourselves, it could have been cheaper! P.S. I used to wait for a toy to become cheaper before purchasing; but these days it's getting more likely that something would simply sold out after a while, not because it is really really popular, just that the stocks are really small.
