Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
ff95gj replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
So far I like what I see... As a battroid guy I would like to see the battroid mode too. The head is important. The VF-1S and Vf-1J were just done right. I can't see the same for VF-25G, but I like that of 25S. -
The unpainted 1S is white, while your DYRL Max 1A is grey... So you can't really swap it without noticing the difference...
-
I don't know... I just love the characters. I just like the flamboyant schemes they use. I'll buy every M&M customs out there (1/60).
-
They are incredible artwork you have there. But personally, I do not like the Jetfire Battroid scheme very well. The Fighter mode is definitely beautiful.

Don't forget he bitches about people only care to fight but not listen to music in the battlefield! The moments are not as bad when that pink valk with boobs sings among enemies, because she doesn't complain. P.S. You make this thread difficult. Now I don't know who is sarcastic and who is genuine.

OT: Luke Skywalker was overjoyed after destroying Death Star, even though his childhood best friend Biggs had just been shot down a moment ago. I believe the ending of a war would give people enough joy to forget grief briefly. When they cool down and look at their legacies, they would begin to feel sad and miss the departed.
-
My worst moment is when a rock singer piloting a red valk with a mouth piece, with a guitar controller, rushed into a battle and sang, and complained that no one listened to him. I hope I were Gamlin and shot him down.

Those are not "arguments". I don't intend to use them as "why you should like the Vajras". Just thoughts that why I like them. I can't see the problem for there's a mysterious species attacking human for no apparent reason until the end reveals why (I would yell if they never resolve it, that would be lame). That's kind of a suspense for the story. If you have that kind of communication among a species, it's natural that you lose characters - everyone will converge to having the same behaviour and same thoughts for the goods of the species. Unlike Smarfs we won't see someone smarter, someone more curious, etc. Maybe "we need Spiritia so let's suck all of them" is easier to understand and better for you. Eyes of beholder.

My 1J doesn't have the same problems. My 1S, had its shoulder hinge (that one connects to the back plate) and right front foot(do you call it that?) come off during transformation. Just pop it back. Not much of a nuisance. The same "left wing is floppy" problem for both 1J and 1S though.
-
I have several parts popped off during transformation, but you can plug it in easily. Besides the shoulder problem, the 1/60 is rock solid, so it's difficult to beat.
-
Just some more thoughts to share... I notice that many people do not like the Vajra. Quite on the contrary, I quite like the idea of a different communication means from human. The human haughtily thought the Vajras were not intelligent. It turned out that they had such an advanced communication system to share ideas across the whole species. They won't have conflicts, lies, misunderstanding among themselves. Now that is an advanced culture IMHO. Shame on human.

It is because the VF-X has no verniers... Although the mold still has it. I am not home now, so this is from memory: either (some of) the dark grey is painted, or it is different on various parts.

Got mine already. On my way home.
-
What's so funny? At least I've got replacement shoulders from Graham. We've got refined shoulders in newer productions and clear canopy too.
-
The VF-X is shipping already? I thought the Angelbird would arrive first. So I am wrong!
-
The prices are crazy! After considering the postal fee though, I found that I am living in a toy paradise city.
-
In my first sentence I already mentioned the before-discount price, and my feeling is that the 1/60 worths more than 1.5 times than the Hi-Metal in my personal preference. Does smaller and complex cost more or as much? I don't know. I look at the Bandai SIC and Kiwami Tamashii SIC, the smaller cousin is very detailed too, but it costs only 1/4 or 1/5 as much. I've also been told than toys of smaller size are easier to design, because you don't have to worry about joints and whether they can hold. The Hi-Metal is not small enough to need very high tech to manufacture either (e.g. finger size valk that can do PT).
-
Just my situation and not the problem of Bandai/Yamato; in where I live, a 1/60 VF-1 is only 1.5 times more expensive than a Hi-Metal in "normal" price. Not to mention that once the VF-1J and Hikaru VF-1S/1A were on discount to cost the same as a Hi-Metal 1J, generally you get 10%-30% discounts for older models such as cannon fodder, Max TV 1A, etc.
-
I highly doubt so... I can't remember when did Bandai make a web-exclusive item general release...
-
Interesting! On the contrary I think the Hi-Metal has a better fighter mode and 1/60 Yamato gets the better battroid mode. I always think the Hi-Metal is more alike to the 1/48 Yammie; longer nose cone thus a better fighter mode and the battroid mode gives in a bit.
-
Price and perfect transformation aside, I still think the Yamato scrpt is better in overall. Talking about overpriced... The Hi-metal is actually expensive given its size. A lot of models (50% of the announced/released) are web exclusive is pushing it even further.

DYRL is not for people without Macross knowledge. I believe one will be lost in the story. But for SDF lovers, I can't see why it is not a welcomed, upgraded recapture of the original series. Especially the original anime quality is not really well drawn. Personally my best still go to the original SDF, but DYRL is more than just meh to me.
-
Me want! I really hope Figma would release the Macross characters. I would get almost everyone from SDF/DYRL and MF. One can always hope.
