While I am a big fan of Yamato products, frankly speaking I do not like the B mode of VF-17S very much. I am leaving it in F mode. On the contrary, I am quite excited about the VF-171 B mode. Wait until I actually hold it in my hands!

Exactly what I am thinking. But the latest pics are very promising! Edit: Just checked; the price on Amazon JP has inflated as well. Now at 15800 yen (MSRP 14700). Maybe Nippon Yasan has been marking far too high.

I don't have a perfect answer but some say that Bandai has only so many production lines contracted. Even if the number of pre-orders shoot up, they are unable (won't pay the effort to) adjust the planned quantity. Macross is never the cash cow for Bandai. I think these days the Kamen Rider, LBX, One Piece and Gundam product lines dominate in the director board. "I want to assign more product lines for Macross." "And produce fewer Gundams? Blah!" "Hahahahahahaha!" (Regardless how Gundam Age is doing badly... maybe)

The current Macross goods are not for kids. Under what situation I would buy a U12 a squad of VF-25?... After doing the math, maybe never. On the other hand, I've got at least 2 for every new DX VF/YF myself. I'm awaiting for that moment with my son. Although there would be two versions; i) I get him an expensive toy; ii) he finds me getting an expensive toy for myself.

I mean, don't bother to try the Hong Kong web shops, they might not be able to deliver even if you manage to place an order. (not that you guys are not unaware of this already )

Not exactly on the defense of the HK local shops, but here's what actually happened: - The YF-29 was re-issued in May (or early June?). Local shops accepted pre-orders, as usual. - It turned out that distributor?/Bandai? did not fill the orders. Some shops only got one or two units. Estimated only 10%-20% of the orders were delivered. - The local shops could not honor the pre-orders for the customers. Including certain reputable shops. The shops had to refund to the customers. One of the shops even refunded with extra compensation (approximately US$13). - I eavedropped (removed my shoes, sneaked around the shop and hid in the shadow) that after this incident, the local shops are now reluctant to accept preorder for valks. Once bitten, twice shy. Especially the version 2 valks are "proven" to be hot cakes (maybe not for RVF-25, but safe for VF-25G). Therefore I expect no shops in Hong Kong are going to accept pre-orders. For those who are going to pre-order online, try the Japanese sites.

I thought/wished that appeared in the movie before I watched it. A shame it didn't. After my Spartan, Phalanx and Minmay Guard on the wish list.

I believe I am one of the handful of people who understands and nods with this kind of behaviour. I am wondering what is the "right price" for you guys? I've ordered one at around US$203 before shipping, and after shipping it costs like a web-exclusive unit for me. Plus the troubles.

Is it really less risky to release a kit than a toy? I don't know how many of the Yamato Macross fans are willing to pay a hefy sum for a kit, much less the skill to handle one. If they release a toy, I will get at least two original color and one special color.

This is ridiculous. The price is already inflated in Japan Yahoo auction before it is released. Can't Bandai just release more units given the obvious demand? To hell, Bandai!

I don't know. I never like the F head much, and the YF-29 has a face of a S. But fighter-mode-wise, I like the VF-25 better. With or without the Super Parts or Armored Parts. Don't like the Tornado Parts.

Is it too late to ask? Like the Max VF-1S case, it's the fans who voiced out that the heat shield should be black instead of blue. For the VF-1A CF, can we have that black stripe on the arms and painted shoulders as shown in the pic? P.S. Is the above pic from an official source? Or it is just a Hikaru VF-1A version repainted by fans? Honestly I don't remember what it looks in the movie.

Yikes... Thanks. The overseas part is not too much a problem as there are lots of proxy companies now to help people to buy from Japan. The problem is looking for available copies... So much for bad sales and yet I am unable to source it!
