Did anyone order an F (Alto) back in July or August, from HLJ (or anywhere else, for that matter)? Stock was meant to be available in August but my order is still waiting. Email to HLJ got a response that they don't have stock yet but aren't sure why. Seems a bit strange to me.

Sounds like you're on the right track as far as supplies go. Mr color is gunze's line of lacquer solvent based paints but are still technically, acrylic paints. They also have "Mr hobby aqueous" which are more of a water/alcohol based paint. Its confusing but you can actually use the lacquer based thinners, which you have, for both types of paints. The Mr color thinner will thin the paints you have, but given its a lacquer thinner, it'll probably dry very quickly. The Mr levelling thinner contains a retarder, to slow the drying time down. The retarder you have is meant to neither thin, nor thicken the paint, but just slow down the drying time. It's likely what's in the levelling thinner, already. Now that you know what they're supposed to do, my advice is to experiment a bit, but probably stick to the levelling thinner and retarder. White is notoriously difficult to get right, so expect to play with ratios a bit. That said, retarder is meant to help get rid of brush strokes and "level out" the paint as it dries. I don't know how much to recommend using as a ratio as its tricky stuff. Too much and the paint won't dry at all. I've got some acrylic retarder and it advises no more than 1 part retarder to 10 parts paint. Hope that's of some help to you. You'll likely get some other comments that will also point you in the right direction.

Clearly you have no experience with transforming toys and were too hamfisted with it. In all seriousness though, these things induce stress like you wouldn't believe and that translates to "not fun" in my book. I got mine out the other day to take some more photos and transforming it enough to just photograph the damaged triangle was enough to put me in a cold sweat. The good news is my super glue fix seems to be holding up.

Very nice! Looks like there are no issues with the beam guns clearing the head laser?

I'm not keen on getting one, mostly due to the Valk having no context for me - haven't even seen the game. But it definitely looks great. For me though, the standout feature is the twisting waist. That is just too cool. Imagine if they'd been able to do that with the original VF-1...

I bounce around a bit... Besides, SOMEONE has to represent Z5 over here!

Hi Jeremy! By the way, you haven't lived until you've stayed up all night attempting to pre order a Bandai DX renewal Valk, only to fail and still have to show up at work the next day! Good to see you here.

Super helpful, guys. Tenax? Really? I was thinking that was for model kit plastic only (styrene). Good to know. The tamiya stuff I have. Are the black triangles ABS? Do we know? Its definitely brittle and not your typical ABS "feel" if that makes sense.

I've yet to find anything called "plastic weld" here in Australia. Any ideas what sort of chemical it is? I've got some tamiya ABS glue but it's very thick and would definitely not do the "capillary action" thing at all. It looks and smells a lot like the clear glue you see for plastic plumbing pipes (not the blue PVC glue).

It is definitely nice to look at. The thing that confused me when the model kit came out, and obviously still does, is when was this ever on screen? I don't recall ever seeing it in movie or TV show.

Awesome stand! Very well designed and executed. And lastly, very sober and well planned approach to production and logistics. You've done some really good homework there and I hope this pays off in a big way for you. Love seeing the talent people like you have and am even more excited when that talent comes to fruition that benefits the wider community as well. C'mon, people! Make this successful so folks like me in other countries can eventually order some.

Did you post up any pics on your armour, WM? I'd love to see what you did on that set.

Yep, just nabbed one too! Is it magical old stock or is there an order limit that hasn't been enforced. Or, has HLJ just blown the lid on artificial limits that other retailers have placed, for the purposes of hype?

Weeee! Got the page to load after a huge wait and saw the green button, only to have the page jump to another item because apparently I'd tapped back. Bloody "smart" phone...

One hour to go, peeps! All strapped in and ready to go?

My goodness, that is a masterpiece! Just out of random curiosity, how much will it weigh when complete?

Easiest way to tell is probably the missile boxes on the legs. The v1 has no vents and the v2 does. The vents are little holes along the side of the boxes. You can also check here:http://anymoon.com/blog/?p=6072 As it shows a great comparison between the two versions.
