LOOOOOVE the Black Widow! One of my favourite WWII era planes. Shame it didn't see much use during the war. Nice work on it so far!

One comment regarding Acrylic paints. All acrylics are not the same. I'm sure that's no surprise to most here. But what I've found is that there seem to be those you can thin with water based stuff, and nothing else. And then there are those that you can thin with water, alcohol, windex, methylated spirits (which is another kind of alcohol), and *gasp* lacquer thinner. The types I've used, first hand that seem to gum up/coagulate with anything other than water or their own thinners, are Vallejo and Life Color paints. I suspect Model Master Acryl is another, but I haven't used these before, so can't comment. With the first two though, if you mix anything other than water or Testor's Acrylic thinner, I find the paint separates and becomes something awful. Contrast that with Tamiya and Gunze aqueous Acrylics and it's a completely different story. You can use all of the thinners I've listed above and it all works. I most recently used Gunze's own "Mr Leveling Thinner" because I'd heard such good things about it and it was really, really good. You can also dilute future with the Mr Leveling Thinner. I found putting clear colors directly into future gave me results that were less than stellar. Sometimes the paint would skin over on top of the future, or it'd require vigorous stirring to make sure it was all dissolved. If I thinned the paint first with leveling thinner, then added future, it was perfectly dissolved and distributed. Try it in a little plastic measuring cup first to see what I mean. I think it's one of those things that once you get it to work, you won't go back to other methods.

Mate, that is THE BEST tantrum face I've seen in a long while. And very scary.

Been a regular watcher of this show for a while now and love it! I didn't know there was a thread here for it because I wasn't familiar with "CW" here in Australia! Glad I've got some people to discuss yet another "you wouldn't understand" interest with.

All this talk about holes and filling in, gives me the creeps! I'm enjoying this series so far. And EXO, nice line about Homeland. I've been surprised to see no discussion on these boards about it. But then again, it's not really sci-fi in the slightest.

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

These two have arrived in the last 30 days. They will both undergo some modifications and hopefully a more appropriate photo session in the future. Yes, that's a Semi Super Messiah. Not pictured are the accompanying Tornado parts for Michael's blue beauty. -
Ah, but are they landing lights, like on the VF-1 or are they navigational lights (slime lights)? If they're the former, fair enough. But if they're the latter, solid, yellow green is actually very accurate. I'll have to double check but if I recall correctly, the Hasegawa kit has these as decals as well, which suggests they are, in fact, meant to be slime lights.
-
The dalong pics are the stickers, not the decals. That said, the water slides in the kit are only marginally better. Painting would certainly be the better option. As with a lot of things, in a pinch, the purchase price of the model kit ghosts is certainly cheaper, but how much is your time worth to get them looking good? That's where I'm at right now...

Close313, mind telling me what the detail is like? The model kit looks like its got less but I'm viewing this on my phone so it may be that instead of what's real.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but anyone who has both the bandai model kit as well as the DX, mind doing me a favour and measuring the ghosts? Just want to know how close in size they are. A comparison pic would be nice too, but I would be happy with just measurements. Thanks!

It is and we thank you for it. Scepticism and impatience is, unfortunately the nature of internet and forum culture in a lot of ways. I wouldn't take it personally, despite how I'm sure it came across.
-
Yep, they're common enough. But when you've only got the funds for 2 renewal valks and a deal you can't pass up comes along, you have to weigh up your priorities. Do I keep the F or S preorder? F had to go, unfortunately. If I can replenish funds in time to score another later on, at a reasonable price, I certainly will.
-
Nope, cancelled it. I've got some other, better things going instead. I am somewhat annoyed that NOW, after I decide to cancel, it ships, though...

I've finally found the pages in this monster thread that dealt with the July re-re-release and I'm more convinced than ever that I somehow ordered when stock levels hadn't been firmly established. I ordered within 24 hours of Kanedas Bike and almost the same time as Pedro2k6. Kanedas' shipped within days, Pedro's didn't until just a week or so ago if I recall correctly. I think the stock levels were "fuzzy" and I managed to get the order into that gray area. I'll wait another day or two to hear back from HLJ. I sent them a very simple email asking if I'd missed out and if they could verify stock. Hopefully I get a definite answer this time. If not, I'll grab something from Mandarake and hope I can find another item from the same store to make the shipping easier to swallow. Don't suppose any Aussies have ordered using the DHL option? I hate not knowing how much I'm up for in shipping before I order! I chose EMS last time on some super parts because I figured it'd be safe - $25 for that tiny little box...
-
Thanks guys. Did just that last night but in the time it took me to update my shipping info in Paypal, someone else purchased the items out from under me. Mandarake had a heckuva night last night in terms of what they listed and how quickly it sold out!
-
I've followed up 3 times now. Their response is always that they don't know when they'll be getting their shipment of BAN964807. That would be fine if it weren't for the fact that according to the release schedule, it already happened - In July, the very same month I ordered it! If they're saying they expect an additional shipment, but don't know when, I'd say that's flat out not going to happen. If they're waiting for someone to cancel an outstanding Private Warehouse order or something similar, in order to free up items, then that's something else entirely and I am happy to wait. In the meantime, those second hand items on Mandarake are becoming more and more expensive and hard to find.
-
Well call me slightly irritated... I nabbed a "pre-order" from HLJ for a VF-25F Renewal back in July (26th, to be exact). At the time I got it, I they were due for release in August, for some reason. August came and went and now September is almost finished, my order didn't move and no payment request. After lots of searching and waiting, I've finally thought to check Bandai's site itself and see the reissue was July, 2014. I see no reason why HLJ would be getting another shipment when the release was back in the month I "Pre" ordered the thing in the first place. Something tells me this one ain't gonna happen. Am I missing something?

If I recall correctly, it's a well established theory of the origins of life, known as "directed panspermia" or a variation of it, at least. That was my take when I watched the series. Here's an article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panspermia#Directed_panspermia- 25 replies

And for those of us who couldn't afford it at the time, this is welcome news! And yes, derex3592, that's thinly veiled jealousy.

I've used those ones and the printing is good. However, mine had a very crackled clear coat on them and I found the white color was not very opaque. Means the skull emblems for the fast packs could really have used a white undercoat. Painting the whole circle white would do the trick nicely. I'll see if I can dig up a pic to show you what I mean. Or... Kanedas Bike, maybe you can show him? EDIT: original thread here -http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=40302&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 -
