So, I'm a little bit confused. Can you tell me what the difference is between your first links: And the second one: It looks like you can get them in black with your first link but then you've mentioned colored plastic in the second one. Is one just much stronger? UPDATE: Wait... Are you saying the second link is printed in color, with the NUNS wording and the white line as well? If so, that's outstanding!

1/72 Hasegawa vs 1/100 Wave Battroid (from a Gundam perspective)
mickyg replied to Quagga's topic in The Workshop!
Nice start! Really showcases the differences so far. Looking forward to the rest of your build/review. -
Looking forward to that one! I had it on my radar for awhile but my local online store didn't have them in stock. It took so long for them to get a restock that they interest had passed by then. I can live this out vicariously now.

See, I think I did. That's what has me confused. Maybe I missed it. That would certainly explain the feeling of "What is going on here?" that we felt when watching 8.

OK, I'm going to risk looking like a moron here because I've made the mistake of watching the latest Arrow (episode 8, I think), before watching any of "The Flash". I forgot all about the new series, to be honest. Episode 8 had me completely lost. I felt like it was one where the plot all of a sudden took a massive dive into "target audience: Teens" territory. I didn't get it. What's worse, my wife has been tolerating the series so far. She rolls her eyes a lot for last season and this one, but she's been loyally watching it with me just the same. Episode 8 lost her. Her words, "I'm never watching that stupid show again." To her, it was that bad. So the obvious question for me: Should I have watched the Flash episodes that preceded this crossover? Did it add enough that I'll have some credibility if I suggest we watch them? My reputation with my wife is at stake here so help me out!

Xigfrid - you are a LEGEND! Very much looking forward to how this turns out.

Mines been super glued but is reasonably intact. But I'm not exactly close in terms of shipping it to you. But if there are not others to offer, I'd be happy to step up.

From my own example (sample?) it's the side that holds the ball on the shoulder. I guess you'd call that the socket, but since the socket isn't a cup, and is instead two "sides" with a depression for the ball to sit in, I don't know what you'd call it. Either way, the full triangle is 3 pieces. The main one that everything screws to, seems to be OK on mine. Then there's the bit that pivots out and is held in with a screw - this part is also OK on my copy. The failing one is the "top" of the whole mess, for lack of a better term. But definitely the part that forms the other side of the "socket" in the shoulder joint. I've got pics somewhere but is that descriptive enough? Sorry about the OT post! We need a "potential shapeways fix for 171" thread to go up. It'd be busy as anything!

So glad you got yours and looking forward to seeing it all done up in your custom armored!
-
Nope. To be honest though, Ozma doesn't do it for me unless he's armored. And that was never likely to happen. It was more the thrill of the hunt I guess. I'll channel the funds elsewhere so it's all a matter of perspective.
-
Actually no, didn't have it in my PW yet. Latest email is that they'll cancel it for me as they have no stock. I checked my account and sure enough, no ozma order. Its like it never happened. I'm bummed but also relieved.
-
Love it! Now, you just need to superimpose your face into it somehow...
-
I emailed them today as well. Mine's been sitting and not moving just like a few others. We'll see if the email prompts anything or if it's just pure luck.

I hear ya. I don't know what the 17's design is like but I'm certainly curious. I'm also wondering if something could be scratch built that would also work. You're right, the part is stupidly complicated and the tolerances are very tight. I'm guessing resin is about the only thing that would be able to capture all the detail in an easy fashion. I doubt very much that it'd be strong enough though. It almost should have been die-cast metal in my opinion. Then again, the EX releases all seem to be fine as far as this part goes. And yes, I know you sold off your 171 toys. I bought one of them.
-
Kurisama - love your work! Is there even the slightest chance for this to come to fruition? I'd even be willing to send you my repaired part if it'd help make this happen. My guess is that Shapeways would have trouble printing enough of these things!

Just got all kinds of excited by an armored set they had for the 25S. Until I realised 55,000 yen is not the same as $55. Crazy price hikes like that are nuts. I almost completed the transaction, too!

I see the Gerwalk kit will be out in December. I don't need one but I certainly want one. The pilot figure would be very nice to have as well.

I would imagine the fee is because they bank the funds and likely due to PayPal's terms and conditions, for them to "refund" your money back would result in them having to pay the PayPal fee. Essentially, it's no longer a refund but a payment they're making to you. They figure someone's gotta pay the fee, so I'm guessing they're passing it on to you. That's the theory at least. Surely PayPal would have something set up with merchants to honor a refund transaction and not charge fees though. I'd be contacting PayPal, quick smart to see what they can help with (if anything). I'd be pretty angry too if I'd PO'd through PlayAsia, didn't get my order, AND got charged a 2.9% fee. Not cool.

Wow! That really pops! Thanks for sharing the steps to show external pics too. You've been a great help with that in the past for Picasa/google plus sharing. In fact, all my current pic sharing knowhow was a direct result of you taking the time to show me the ropes. -
"In stock" is the key on this sale.
-
Seconded. I haven't seen too many VF-1J Hikaru types that have yellowed but I'm sure it'd be informative to others, both to know if it's happened as well as how you'll be takings steps to minimise it in the future.
