I love that these are in the pipeline. For those of you who own the originals (I'm not one of them) it looks like one of the most obvious differences is the panel lines and crispness of the way it all looks. To me, that's a huge leap in terms of quality. I had a Nora SV-51 for a while and while it was very impressive and imposing, the huge panel lines and floppiness of the thing just made it look inferior next to a v2 Yamato VF-1. This new one looks like it should sit right next to anything v2 VF-1 and newer, no problems. I wonder if the old ghost will look strange on the new valk, given the difference in panel lines?

Amazing work! Post shading looks fantastic! Great shots of your finished model too! So good to see some completed models lately. It's about the only way I get my "fix" these days.- 80 replies

Thoroughly enjoyed it. It's very well done and I love the feel of it so far. And the driving scene with the "surprise" made me literally wet myself. No seriously, spilled my drink all over myself. Well done first ep!

I think your pricing is fine, Yeti - evidence is in the uptake so far! I love seeing your stuff in the hands of Macross fans. I think the issue is purely the shipping. And as I said, the problem is really just for those of us that want a small number. For fans collecting 10 for example, the shipping cost becomes neglegable. It's just that people like me, who can only splash out for a few at a time, can't stomach the charges to get them here. I had not considered the adapter costs, Yeti. That makes perfect sense. It would be difficult to have a distributor when you've got so many options. I really do think the missing link here in getting these out to the overseas masses, is the shipping costs. I would love to know how the "big boys" can get it done so cheaply. I'm just afraid it's all about volume and frequency, something you're not going to be able to tap into until these stands really start to go big-time! Maybe that's just a matter of time...

The answer is buying lots. Seriously though, shipping from the US to anywhere outside has risen a lot in recent years and the only way to offset it is to buy in qty. Its why I suggested a group buy for Aussies a while back (thread still exists somewhere). Yeti, there are other shipping options but I'm not sire they're much better. Unless you have some sort of premium account with a shipper, you're kinda stuck. And to have that sort of account, I think you'd need to do a lot of shipping. Case in point, I pay very little for shipping from amazon to Australia. Maybe look at offering these via amazon?

Nah, all you need is intake covers for that. -
Right you are! I should have seen that by looking at the pictures, right above my post!

We had a dollar almost on parity with the USD for a long while. I think when the US market started to show signs of improvement, the AUD started to fall. That said, we've only lost not quite 10 cents to the JPY in recent months. Granted, that's not an insignificant amount! But it's not as bad as what we lost to the USD. I think that's what I'm trying to say...

Unless Hasegawa pops one out in the next couple of months, this would be THE kit. You'd likely reach an even wider audience with it too, Cap'n. -
Experiement with some super glue solvent (there are super glue removers specifically for this)? I'd try it somewhere inconspicuous, like maybe on a mating surface of one of the arms? Except if it does react, it might leave an ugly mark or cause stress to the mating surface... Anyone else know if super glue remover reacts with acrylic before my advice potentially ruins a beautiful YetiStand? EDIT: Just did some googling - Superglue is acrylic. So don't try anything that will be a solvent on super glue as there's every chance it'll mar the acrylic surface of the stand as well. Looks like your best bet is to get it off mechanically. Try a sharp razor blade and then sand it smooth with finer and finer grades of sandpaper. Finish it by polishing.

I actually have no money. Sad, but true. Even if I wasn't saving up for VF-19 Advance goodness in a couple of months, I'd still be SOL, I'm afraid. You're right though, the peer pressure is fantastic here!

Thanks! Yes, I find when dismantling my toys, it's usually best to not think about how much it cost me! That said, the VF-25/YF-29 comes apart pretty easily. Especially if you disassemble the rear of the fuselage that's visible when everything is opened up, first. If you try to just get at the screws that hold the top and bottom of the main cockpit together, its all very difficult with screw driver angles and parts in the way. Rather than clutter the thread, if anyone is curious, PM me and I'll send you some pics of the process.

Looks nice and smooth! Finally got Isamu's Durandal reassembled. It's probably too soon for that but it was taking so long and I really wanted to get it to a stage where I can display it again. So the gears are painted and rrasonably weathered now. And a top view, showing the canopy recolor, fold crystal recolor, and some of the subtle panel line wash I've done so far. I've got more to do but its presentable in its current state, at least.

As one who's sitting this one out, I'm grateful to you guys who are taking the plunge. I'll live vicariously through your experience. Be sure to be descriptive with both praise and criticisms. That's what makes this community so enjoyable to be part of.

The bridge is pretty different. The DYRL version is tiny and offset to the side, whilst the TV one is bigger and more centered. I also think there's a big difference in the main gun section as well. Someone will hopefully come along and post pics soon to illustrate those and other differences. EDIT: like 505th's just now.

True, I should have clarified that they hadn't completely covered 7. No VF-19, no VF-17 for example. But point taken.
