Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread

So they're not Zolan ears after all? Interesting...- 2715 replies

Saw it with my 7 year old yesterday and that exact thing happened on my way out of the theatre. A group of boys ran out to meet their parents after the movie was over and blurted out all sorts of spoiler stuff. Had I not just seen it, I'd have been livid. Loved the movie. Loved the characters. Loved the feel. So, so good.

Tamiya Tomcat kits are 1/32 scale. Very big, very imposing. Both in looks and in build. Apparently they are quite the challenge to put together convincingly. And no, the wings don't swing on those either. Unless Tamiya has released a 1/48 I'm not aware of, that is...

30% is great! But it's still $278 (AUD) according to the HLJ built in currency exchange rate. Tempting but still not tempting enough. Just can't get out of my head how our dollar has dropped so much compared to the USD in such a short amount of time. It's probably the same for the YEN against the USD though. So chances are, this would still have stung in the AUD heyday.

At least your wings swing. The Hasegawa kits are fixed in either open or closed, so the wing seal bladders can be shown appropriately. Yes, it makes sense, but I'd rather be able to open and close them for display variation!

Looks VERY nice! Yeah, those winglets were deleted very early in the tomcat's life. They didn't do as much as they had hoped (added stability was their primary function and they simply weren't necessary). As I recall, the later version of the Tomcat (at least the D types) had the internals removed and the "slot" faired over to save weight.

That's incredible work, though man. I was going to berate you for Not posting more of these Not telling us years ago you possessed this talent But it sounds like you've only just now dipped your toe into the toy customising waters. And if that's true and you're just starting, we have much to look forward to in future posts from you. Very, very nice!

Yes! My uncanny (and as yet, completely worthless) ability to recognise shapes and details belonging to things, strikes again!

He is indeed - not hard to find him actually. Thanks for that great article, Ollie! It's always such a surprise to me when I describe the series to people who know nothing about it. I usually have to get to Transformers and his work there before they start to take notice. Articles like this will help my cause greatly.

I don't know what it is, but they just work on every level, including how they "fit in" with everything else. Seriously, do yourself a favour and grab one. I'm showing lots of bias here, obviously, but personally, I think they look even better than the photos.

Seconded! The complete article is definitely a better beast than any adaptations to current stands. And Jenius, I hope to beat you to a full (albeit written, with pictures and not video) review of the starter kit in the not too distant future. Yeti - apologies on my lateness so far. There's been far too much real life for me lately to devote the time I had planned to said review. But it is coming. And so is Christmas, incidentally...

That's just insane! I thought the F-4 was bad... Is that a Foxhound?

Nope, Tochiro, I was not at all. I'm surprised I hadn't thought about it too. Since I'm very interested in his works, obviously. Antibiotictab, thanks for the story as well. Also something I did not know.- 2715 replies

Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread

He's 55? Really? That means he was working on Macross in his very early 20s! Wow, that's some serious talent at a very young age if that's correct.- 2715 replies

I doubt you'll have any issues moving it if you do get a spare.

I believe the issue here is that there is no "Items of Interest" section in the forums. It doesn't exist. I think David meant the "Where to buy Macross, auctions and dealer specials" section instead. I may be mistaken though. David, is that right? If it is, it's in the buy, sell, trade section, which is only visible if you're a logged in user. Does that help at all?

Great commentary on the "it was so much more when I first saw it" aspect of a lot of what we first experienced as kids. I'm in complete agreement, Gubaba. Thanks for all the work you're putting into these.
