    Bandai DX VF-31

Good question. Last night was a fluke, in my experience. In the previous cases, the preorder was open way too long and I went through the order process as smoothly as any other purchase would be, from selection to checkout. But last night it was in my cart, I went to checkout and on the final page, just before "we've got your order" message, it timed out. I didn't know at the time, because I didn't check my email, but it was actually successful. Must have been a combo of clicking back, reloading the page, and who knows what else, but I ended up with a "ghost" in my cart that I didn't know was a ghost. I thought it was still the original item. So I spent the better part of the hour trying to finalise that one, never knowing it was actually a duplicate of the first order. That was definitely not the case with the previous 3 Frontier valks. So I'm still hoping it went through on this one. It was DEFINITELY a different experience. And as Brian points out above, my experience was pretty isolated with those Frontier valks. Just got unlucky, I guess. Still don't have an Alto '29 and it's been in my open orders list since April. I doubt it'll ever be fulfilled.

Petrov: Not sure you need to know much more about this but thought I'd chime in, just in case. This has happened to me not once, but three times. First on the last Alto VF-25F release, then the last Ozma VF-25S, and finally on the last Alto YF-29. Every time it was when the pre-order was open and I managed to nab one after the initial rush had subsided. For the Messiahs, I think it was a day or so after the preorder started. I don't remember the time delay for the Durandal. The only difference here is that this was all within an hour or so of the initial window. Maybe that's significant? The other thing I've been thinking about is that these are preorder "slots" so to speak. I don't know how HLJ (or any other retailer) can possibly know how many they'll be allocated. So the whole pre-order process seems to either be a mystery, or an outright lie. Just my two cents...

Did the same thing with mine but didn't realise the first one had gone through. Ended up with two and two emails as well. Attempted to log in and discovered my account was suspended. Log in and have a look. If it lets you log in, if cancel it. I had to email customer service to get my order and account sorted.

Took me nearly 50 minutes to get my HLJ order from the confirmation screen (last stage before the order is confirmed) to "we've got your order". Checked emails and noticed two. Tried to login to confirm and noticed my account is suspended. Oops... Not a complaint, their system obviously had a hard time tonight. I think an email should resolve this without any issues. I hope...

Don't know whether to laugh or cry at that one.
  6. Love the throwback to the VF-0A on that 31A head.

EMS Shipping from HLJ to Australia is 4,820. Sounds pretty reasonable, given some of the other prices I've seen. However, when adding a few other items in my PW, that went up to 7,600 ish. Ouch...
  8. Looks outstanding! Always a treat to watch you build (and finish) your projects. Love the weathering and attention to detail on this one.
  9. Brilliant reference there NZEOD!
  10. I started a VF-1D thread years ago here and did something similar. Or at least I think I did... My guess, they tried to align the top of the leg parallel to the ground. It looks wonky as anything that way, so I'm totally with you there. What where they thinking?
  11. I may have missed this, but what did you do to "correct" the droop leg syndrome of the smaller Hasegawa kits? It looks like yours are aligned beautifully. Looking wonderful, by the way!
  12. Every new project is better than the last Xigfrid! Very nice work and great to see your skills evolving.
  13. I tried it - seemed to work OK, actually. I used it on the longer decals on the VF-171 kit. You don't get the amount of slide that you would with a real decal but it definitely gives you some room to play with before you squish it down.
  14. It's an awesome deal, Yeti! Sadly, I am sorted for stands at the moment and can't see needing anything for at least another 6 months. I wonder if that situation is the same for others?
  15. Yeah, this was bittersweet. I had ordered it when it showed "backordered" but didn't hold out much hope as it'd been that way previously for a good six months at least. And then I promptly forgot about it. In the meantime, I'd sort of gotten over having to have it and honestly don't have time to build it now. And then bang! Order processed from HLJ message this morning. So yeah, this was once something I "had to have" but now is a bit of a "what am I going to do with it now?" that I guess I'll just have to find some time for...
  16. http://hlj.com/product/BAN958765 Not sure if this means Bandai is re-introducing these across the board, or if HLJ has just happened to get more of these in stock. Either way, it's available now and I've got one in my PW.
  17. Not totally thread related but it looks like the Armored Messiah kits are back in stock too! http://hlj.com/product/BAN958765
  18. Thunderbirds are known for their ability to go combat ready as well. It's definitely a thing. http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/the-one-usaf-thunderbird-demo-plane-that-suited-up-for-1621225937 Seconded on the HUD. Would love to know how you managed that so well. It looks great!
  19. I posted up a review here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=43612#entry1266308 In short, there's nothing that would prevent me from recommending them for model use. They're way stronger than you would ever require for any model kit I can think of. Extremely easy to use. And just as versatile as anyone familiar with yeti products would expect. I'd hoped to use them on an actual model by now but life has been far more busy than I'd expected in the last 6 months.
  20. So if HLJ hasn't shipped your YF-29 order yet, are we assuming you're out of luck? Mine hasn't shown up in PW yet and I'm starting to assume it's a VF-25S deja vu moment.
  21. Again, for something so small, and so cheap, these are really impressively done. Even with stickers instead of water slide decals.
  22. Nice! Looking forward to this one.
  23. I don't know, I always thought it was something that made sense because it's Battroid "hand" held specific. In other words, in fighter mode, you'd assume it was moving at some speed, so it doesn't require any further cooling to keep the barrel under melting temps. If you're deploying the weapon and aren't moving though, then the cover opens so you can get some air cooling effects. However, none of this makes much sense if you're not in some sort of atmosphere.
  24. That FB2012 scheme looks great! Gives me some ideas about how I'd do it. I was questioning the light blue accents and now that I see it, I don't love it. I think I'd need to paint over them. Also, I'm thinking the brown represents a metallic that couldn't really be rendered well in all the drawings we've seen of the original. I'm thinking the VF-25F feet would be a nice match. Would folks be interested in a list of all the differences between the VF-X version (what we get from Arcadia) and the FB2012 version? I've compiled a list of all the changes I've seen so far. Happy to open a new thread to show what I've got and leave it up to others to fill in any blanks I've got.

Agreed. I'm also just annoyed I couldn't snag it from the likes of HLJ due to the "exclusive" status.
