  1. Look at all that bird crap on the vertical stab! That's awesome!
  2. I'm with Jenius on this one. It's a big set, it goes on a big valk, and Arcadia's pricing is already higher than what yamato used to do. I'm fully expecting something between 15k and 20k Yen.
  3. Love it Saburo! Can't wait to get mine, probably next week, along with the Hikaru 1J (if it comes in stock before the end of the week). About the only thing I don't like about the way this one looks is the backpack hinge. Otherwise, the detail and proportions are such a nice mix for a small toy.
  4. I love that image so much! Even if you enjoyed the show (and I definitely had moments where I did - a lot) it's still durned funny!
  5. I was looking at the pictures Jvmacross posted up just recently of the Macross Captains. Lovely renditions by Tenjin-san! However, this image of Captain Wilder got me wondering: Anyone know what the thing on Captain Wilder's collar is? It looks like some sort of goggles or case for something. But I know that's silly and can't possibly be right. So is it ever explained?
  6. I like your take on this. It would be really interesting to get "eyewitness accounts" from those that survived the destruction after the first space war. Your start has a lot of promise and a nice, first hand, feel to it. Especially those reports from people who would have really made a difference from a tech or agriculture background. Nice work so far!

I think you're right! Great explanation. Do we have a specific release date for the Hikaru 1J? I want to figure out PW shipping dates.

When I looked at HLJ early this morning (6 and a halfish hours ago) I had just the hi metals showing in my search. I was able to add the 1J Hikaru to my cart and the Max type was showing as well. But clicking the add to cart button directly in the search timed out, then gave me an error that the page wasn't available. Refreshing my search showed it as order stop like it has been for a while now. Not sure if that was a glitch or if there actually were a few there for a brief moment. Here's hoping the Max is available closer to release day, like the Hikaru one is.
  9. Wow - the shadows on the VF-0A make it look like a very nice gray on blue camo. Took me a second to notice it was just shadow and not a custom paint job.
  10. Those details are incredible for the size! Really well done little kits.
  11. That finish looks really nice. What sort of paint are you using?
  12. ChaoticYeti may be able to help. You're not the first person who's had that part break and I seem to recall someone making a part for it. He comes to mind but if it wasn't him, he might be able to whip something up for you. Plus, his stands are the best thing ever.
  13. Very clever!
  14. Yes, it definitely is the replacement for the EA-6B, very true. I was thinking the jamming and electronic intelligence gathering that both platforms do/did is more the case. If I recall correctly, the VE and RVF models had that capability as well. I seem to recall young Luca jamming the vajra communications with his fold jammers and associated equipment on his RVF. Maybe the VE-1 didn't have that capability though. The growler and prowler definitely don't do AWACS duty though, you're absolutely right. It seems the VE and RVF certainly can and do.
  15. I tend to look at the VE-1 as similar to the EA-18G "Growler" that is basically an F/A-18F Super hornet with a whole bunch of avionics and wiring upgrades to allow it to fulfil the ELINT role from a Fighter platform. Obviously the Super Hornet doesn't have the giant radome atop the back of the fuselage but the rest of the sensor package and ability to do jamming, is comparable.
  16. I watched the finale today and although I didn't hate it, I never really felt invested in it. It had its moments, and I even enjoyed a lot of it. But it never hooked me. And Spanner, I'm not even excited by the toys anymore... And that's sad. I'm not sure if it's me or the show but I'd have thought I'd be more willing to invest in the toy side of things than I am. You know, appreciate the designs for what they are and focus on that. But nothing resonated with me enough to make me want to plonk down largish sums of money on the toys. Maybe those MechaColle kits are going to be all I get. Even that's sort of not all that exciting for me though. Anyway, I guess I'm describing a very "meh" sort of response to all this. It's not completely neutral and probably more to the positive side of things but it never quite won me over. Maybe it wasn't long enough? I think that at least makes me feel a bit better. Positives for me: Learning that something came of the Megaroad Seeing lots of Protoculture "stuff" which had to be far more than we've ever seen in any other series Getting a definitive statement on the Protoculture's role in establishing humanoids all over the galaxy (I guess we got that in 7 and a bit in Frontier as well but still, we see lots of 'children' in this series) Some new worlds And I'm sure I'm missing still others but those are the main ones I'd list negatives but I not feeling the need to jump up and down on a bandwagon I think I'm clearly already riding in.

I like that, actually. I thought there were two heads but that it had changed and this was a pic showing why. Thanks for clearing it up Ignacio Ocamica.

So it just pushes in? That's an interesting way to do it. Also interesting is the location change of the laser. Strange.

I still want to find one. I missed the pre-order window. And I already have the GBP release. I want it for all the improvements. And hopefully it's a bit brighter white too.
  20. From what I'm seeing in all the news about this new kit though, it's the best Tomcat ever. And some are saying one of the best engineered and well thought out kits. Period.
  21. So that's all the markings included, eh? I'd also hope there would be a bit more in the way of different coloured sprues too. Oh well. 5 bucks, after all.
  22. The photos are beautiful - Spam away! Plus, it's your thread and your creation. I think you've earned the right to post as many shots as you want. You'll hear no complaints from me, that's for sure!
  23. There's a video of the event and you can see the smoke from the ejection rockets. It looks like it wasn't that high up, given you can see what look to be two shoots as well and it was all filmed from something with a zoom lens. In other words, I don't think they were at "normal" cruising altitude for a U2. Which begs the question, what went wrong and why did someone not make it? Very sad indeed.
