No problem at all! Hoping you get some traction on these. I've yet to be in a position to finish a model, let alone the 3 or 4 I'd like to set up on one of these. Still, I can't imagine any reason at all these wouldn't work perfectly. -
So very jealous of that VF-1D kit! Looks great all weathered up like that.

I didn't have too much issue with it in 2d viewing at least. And I was/am recovering from a nasty head cold. So I think that's just about worst case scenario as far as vertigo susceptibility is concerned. In 3d though, man that'd be an entirely different story, I think. -

Thanks Grigolosi, I probably explained that poorly. Here's an article about the engine operation (for both types) as it relates to nozzle position: http://www.anft.net/f-14/f14-detail-engine.htm Incidentally, I didn't mean shutting one down for landing, that was badly worded. I meant during the process of shutting down, after landing. Trying to land a tomcat on one engine, especially with the P&W engines would be extremely tricky. Though I'm sure there are plenty of stories about exactly that scenario. Anyway, always good to hear from someone who knows these things firsthand. Thanks for clarifying.

Just put my order in at NY for the Millia 1J. That hurts bad with the Aussie dollar so low, and trip to the US coming up in Dec but I'd be kicking myself if I missed out (I have been ever since the 1/48s finally disappeared after their long time presence warming shelves everywhere).

I've left an Alto YF-29 in my orders for that very fact. If they find spares, I would be kicking myself for removing it! Of course, that's an order I placed when the last batch of YF-29s went for sale and HLJ couldn't get enough to fill all their orders.

Oh cool, looks like they've done gold decals (not that Hobby Search's scan shows it very well). Wish they'd have done that for the SV-51 Nora type.

MechTech, that's awesome! Miles316: the Tomcat has two engines but when landing, only one is needed to maintain hydraulic pressure so the other is usually shut down. It's always only the same specific one, from what I can recall. I think it has to do with which systems that engine runs. Anyway, with the other engine shut down, the nozzle "relaxes" if you will, and (I think) opens fully, while the other one stays puckered like you see. Any twin engine jet probably does the same, it's just the earlier Tomcat engines, as depicted here in the Tamiya kit, have a much more extreme look to them when fully opened or fully closed. Check out Wikipedia for some general info on the Tomcat - it's a great read and might just get you hooked on the old 'cat. The newer engined Tomcats have a much more silver nozzle and whilst they too exhibit this half open, half closed look on the ground, it's nowhere near as extreme to look at. In other news, pre-ordered that kit from HLJ today! Build the 2 Hasegawa kits that I've semi started or sell them along with all the extras and just build the Tamiya...?

Just got my CF 1A and Hikaru 1J in and had fun transforming the 1A. I know they're not perfect, by my goodness am I enjoying these little guys!

So you just want a size proportional comparison between any 17/171 and any VF-1 or otherwise, as long as they're the same scale? Is that correct? I thought you wanted a 1/72 direct comparison as well, when I first read your post. I can compare Bandai DX 171 to 25 and yamato v2 VF-1 if that'd help (and I'm understanding correctly).

Pedro, that display and your room itself are just amazing! Love the colours of the tiles and walls, likes like a really high end waiting room for some incredible showroom or something. It also looks really calm in there. Nice work!

It's four pages back and you have to know that "Dark dirt wash" is a Flory colour, and that derex is a huge fan of the stuff, but yeah, definitely Flory wash. And nice work, Derex!

I've looked for this setting in the past and also haven't found it. Yeah, it's not specifically HM-R related but man, I'd love to know how to configure this as well! Maybe a new thread?
