Mind bogglingly amazing! Such incredible work and use of parts. Some of the smaller details, using basic components are just genius!

If that's not a blatant Bassara Hairdo on the left there, then I don't know what is!

Bandai Macross Δ Mecha Collection Small Scale Plastic Model Kits
mickyg replied to IXTL's topic in Model kits
Looks great, David! -
But why? Both companies are producing an SV-262, and Bandai came out with a VF-31 kit before their SV-262. And all of them are the same scale.

I'm totally going to attempt it! That, and angling the flight deck in cruise mode, too. Just need to set aside the time to do it is all. Yeah, that mess of an antenna is a terrible eyesore. -
That is a very handy chart! I had no idea the wave was so small, actually.
-
I can't directly comment on the wave, cause I don't have it. But I do have the Megahouse. I'm not sure about scale but the following is a mostly level, side by side shot of the high metal R VF-1J. So it's longer but I'd still consider it "small" as a toy. There's no die-cast as far as I'm aware, so no weight issues to speak of. But, that doesn't mean there aren't any alignment issues with the "legs" in cruiser mode. Here's an example: That left engine is aligned with the grid on my screen for the phone's camera. It's also aligned with the top of the frame in your browser, so compare that to the right engine. You should see a slight "twist" for lack of a better term, on the right one. This isn't due to weight. It's purely how the leg is attached to the body and unfortunately, I haven't found a way to get it properly aligned. Other than that, I think this is a pretty impressive little toy/model.

Nice recovery! That ought to motivate quite a few folks, myself included..

Bandai Macross Δ Mecha Collection Small Scale Plastic Model Kits

I don't know... Yours look like they actually meet each other. Maybe that stretching was a good thing. I'll have to find some silver to touch up a few gaps with mine. Given I'll painting Kassim's outright, hopefully I can use a dab of that where it's needed. -
I've always loved the look of the YF-21 cockpit - like some sort of medieval torture chair! Looks phenomenal so far!

Bandai Macross Δ Mecha Collection Small Scale Plastic Model Kits
mickyg replied to IXTL's topic in Model kits
A, I wanted to reply to this previously but couldn't get my phone and replies to work properly. I've resolved that so here goes... The dual Hermann/Kassim kits do indeed come with markings for both. However, you don't get a full double up. So doing the top and bottom remains an issue, unfortunately. -

I'm really enjoying these little kits! Just for kicks, I assembled Hermann's and threw the stickers on. It's not perfect and won't be nearly as impressive as paint, but for the size and convenience, they're pretty good. And let's not forget, about $5, too! There are definitely some annoyances, like stickers not quite being the right size (wingtips, black panels, for instance), the canopy is laughable in how it lays down on the round surface, and that nasty surprise you get when the sticker is all snugged down after burnishing with a toothpick and a few hours later, it's pulled up. But they do look pretty good when done! -
Looking amazing MechTech! I especially love all the simple ways you have of making micro adjustments to the alignment on the rudders. I'm guessing you may need to fiddle with them a bit before you lock them into place? Can't wait to see how this performs on the water. Also makes me wonder how something in 1:1 scale does with this arrangement. Looks like a really great way to make and direct thrust in the water.

I still can't get over how massive it is, compared to the VF-25 you've shown it with. These monsters are huge!

Considering every TV release to date has had a follow up movie (Even the Plus OVA had one), surely there's an announcement about an upcoming Delta movie soon?
-
I like how the wings are literally on opposite sides with the statue! The right is on the left side, and the left on the right. Assembly problem or did they do it that way on purpose?

If you'd told us all about this before starting it, "it'll have this gun, and this one, and this canon, and a lasers, and energy weapons, and missiles..." I'd have thought it was seriously overkill and would look crazy busy and well, ridiculous. But now that you've built it, it's just awesome! Love what you've done with it and all the parts I recognise from other kits, but they all blend so well. Can't wait to see it painted and finished!

Very nice work MJ! So glad this is doable. Going to add the smoke to the front of the red sensor array on the nose too?

To be fair though, that's one vendor. I've had VERY good luck getting items from HLJ around the release date. And there were a few 31Js recently that came up without that sort of huge mark-up. The process is frustrating, certainly but it's not ALL bad.

Far out! I'm on a role today.. All these quotes are throwing me off. IXTL, that shot of the SDF Elysion is yours. Noel, yours are the transformation sequences. Thanks for posting, EVERYONE. I'll see myself out now...

Ooops... Fixed! Clearly I was reading content posted by Noel while replying and got totally mixed up. Noel: Thanks for the screen grabs - I especially like that first one with the Elysion in the background.

I did my first ever valk, the Yamato relase VF-1A Super/Strike variant back a few years ago. I did every single marking from a set of custom decals I bought through ebay. I enjoyed doing it, but it also took a LONG time. While an extra hundred (for us Aussies) seems extreme, I'm not sure I'd have been willing to do one on commission for much less than that. So it's a pretty hefty markup but I don't think it's so bad considering how much time the average person would spend doing it with comparable quality. That said, when something like this is "mass" produced (even in smaller quantities this is likely to be) I would expect the price to be far more reasonable. That and the overall price of the toy is what's scaring me off. I just can't bring myself to pay that much anymore. Not for a VF-1, even if it comes with the extra super/strike parts. The regular version isn't so bad a price though. If my tastes were more DYRL in nature, I'd have bitten.

I don't know guys, I'm a little concerned that this time the tinting isn't paint at all. It almost looks like the plastic itself is metallic clear orange. I hope I'm wrong.

That looks like it might have been the one! Though I can't recall having individual weapons for the lions like what's shown there.
