I'm surprised he was able to pull it off with the work of a guy who turned out to be a hippie. But yeah, that touchy feely crap stage is probably over for Robotech, never to be addressed again in sequels and reboots. Like I said before, if they reboot it, Minmei will be the first to go, killed or derailed further.

They used Gerwalk mode a lot in that movie (first battle, last battle, the rings of Saturn, on earth). In Shadow Chronicles, Marcus and Decoy used Guardian mode to hide in the wreckage of ships above Earth to avoid Invid ships and take scans. No fighting involved. Marcus even announced it to the audience.

I think this shows the challenge of designing a transformable vehicle and why not everyone is good in applying it. One obstacle the pre-production art shows is where all the fighter's parts will go through transformations. You can get away from not showing all the intricacies in comic book form because it would take too many panels and pages cost money. There's also avoiding it altogether with blatant exposition as Robotech: From the Stars justified when it showed the VF-4. They must have found problems in attempting to animate it because it was completely new and there was no reference material to base their 2-D or 3-D sequences to it. Another obstacle I noticed from Shadow Chronicles was how to utilize all three transformation forms in a production. Remember, besides looking cool, the 3 forms of a Variable Fighter had some strategic use in combat. If I remember correctly, Shadow Chronicles only used Guardian mode once at the beginning of the movie and relied heavily on fighter and bioroid for the rest. That too might have been because it would be too expensive to show more dynamic battle sequences. Or maybe they just didn't care, because they showed all prerequisite forms to convince people that, yes, they're using Veritechs and they can transform... in 3-D. They wanted people to assume that that kind of stuff kept happening off screen during the battles while the film showed "cool" dog-fighting.

I don't know, the action scenes were good, but -
I agree, the past is the past, and it's not like Robotech is actually going anywhere. Everyone in that situation is banking on nostalgia and legalities to keep the franchise relevant, but no one significant is listening. We don't need cheap shots, we stand by something with integrity.

Prince of Persia the movie, I felt embarrassed afterward. -
The next release owes people anything with chains and more gunz. So far it's too tame.

Cool, keep up the good work.

It's funny how all of that can come to a screeching halt when they're given a position which makes them act more like a manager than an artist. Tommy's work looks decent, but I'd like to see if he can maintain and improve on it when working on material on a regular basis like all other artists. You know, like on a comic book back in his day.

R.I.P. Peter Keefe

I remember having the theatrical version of the first couple of episodes put together as one movie on Beta. To me, it left a very good impression of what it was about. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the rest until it started showing up on Saturday morning timeslots and recently on DVD. I don't know, much of what came afterwards felt different, maybe because of the monster of the week pattern. Oh, and Sven got replaced, that came out of nowhere. It was a big let down after what the movie established. On the other hand, I liked how WEP was able to make fun of themselves in the promos for the Golion DVDs. -

I liked Voltron back in the day. R.I.P. So I'm guessing this guy didn't let the stuff he worked on back in the 80s get to his head, right? Or at least the industry didn't overly praise him. -
The 40K universe is supposed to be more Gothic than high-tech. Think of the armor as something regal. But yeah, I was expecting more from the teaser.

Adult videos did kill off Beta tapes, right?

Hmm, I knew there was something odd about "Lisa's" current appearance. From the portrait I posted from Prelude, if you take out her head and change the skin color it might end up looking like Vince Grant from the same production.

Almost all established characters reappearing for whatever purpose should be spelled with quotations then. Sure, it's just part of a big, convenient joke designed for the fans in order to get into their wallets, but it still works. Draw or make up the craziest explanations and they'll eat it up. It's "Lisa" for those abreast with the story.

She got chunky.

Yes, I know, I'm horrible. I also need to learn how to use Photoshop. This was all Paint.

Forget Love Live Alive, those new pages with Mint and co. in Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles could be the last official appearance of the Mospeada crew now. At least they didn't go out in an ambiguous blaze of glory like the last generations.
-
I don't think they really have a choice these days. They killed off a whole bunch of people from the previous generations, unless they magically reappear and become relevant to the Haydonite war. Plus, Macross characters would be in-name-only status like Rick and Lisa.

So Killzone 3 is confirmed, and from the tidbits revealed so far, it makes the ending of Killzone 2 sound less depressing. Though, still sucks to be Sev and Rico where they are now after what they did.

It's part of our history, what we have now wouldn't be here if it wasn't for past works.

They would save money if they dropped the singing aspect of the show. Just get everyone distracted by something sexy. Just a reminder for anyone keeping track of the franchise; savor, and I really mean savor the handful of extra content added to the Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles and other compilation comic books being released. That's about three years of progress in your hands, and so much better than what they're keeping people from. It's totally worth the legalities.

Just reminding people who are interested. The deadline is Wednesday, May 26.
