There is also news of a "Robotech Mystery Box" to look out for in the panel reports. It makes your mouth water, doesn't it?
-
From videos posted on youtube, it looks very good.
-
So, from twitter reports from Anime Expo, there is a new Robotech production planned to be released next year. Yeah, sure.
-
It puts more stress on what is said and done, or not said and done, in events like the upcoming weekend.

All Things Video Games Thread: II
Einherjar replied to Wanzerfan's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It's so bad! It might strain the arm when playing for a long time. I wish they showed more of the game the guy was playing to give a better view of how accurate the movements are. -
I agree. If they are serious about this, I feel really sorry for what they're probably going to go through after 6 months to 2 years worth of progress for this. They can make all the legal precautions they want, but it may not make it beyond a trailer with HG. Plus, some unreliable people with connections know about it now. There are no exceptions. As for the work, it looks decent. I just wouldn't get your hopes up.

I think they're trying to promote this as a replacement to UEG Productions as a fan project to latch onto. That is, until a possible falling out with HG, followed by mud slinging from MEMO and co. It's not relevant at all, but someone should warn these people. I'm not sure of that. It interested certain people so much that they were invited on robotechespanol. I think it was a way of distancing everybody from the fallout with UEG.

That sounds like a strategy someone in the comic book industry would say to keep up long-term interest in a story. Especially with long running books, they go from one story to another with very little rest in between arcs. You have to get people to come back every month or so to find out why people like Tommy are acting so ambiguous about stuff. Also, I guess comic book death could now apply to Robotech. But this is (supposedly) anime, cheap tricks like that shouldn't work when people aren't working on anything. He's no Stan Lee, Joe Quesada, or anyone of importance in the comic book industry who can get away with it. He's just stuck with Robotech with little to show for it.
-
I thought the potential last straw would have been the public knowing the whole story surrounding Robotech and HG deciding it was still a good idea to keep running with it, even with all the behind the scenes controversy it's been known for creeping back on regular basis. By the way, does anyone else think the Ranka/Sheryl performance and the Robotech panel for this year's Anime Expo seem extremely awkward? With all the crap that's happened recently, I wouldn't be surprised if HG sent both singers and the production behind it a C&D for the usual reasons.

He's also one of the dead crew members on the Deukalion in Shadow Chronicles.
-
Too bad he's dead, gone psycho, or just forgotten like a lot of characters.

Jeez, this might be a bad year for DC. "Jonah Hex" will make you want to burn your face with a red-hot axe Thinking back on it, his one time episode on Batman TAS wasn't as ridiculous by comparison. Oh, and Megan Fox? Who cares.

How about the other noticeable quality of Liquid Snake; being a Large Ham?
-
Hmm, these days, doesn't Khyron almost sound like Liquid Snake? It must be the British-like accent I hear from him.

All that's missing is a drawn out inner monologue on existentialism. The idea to adapt it to novel form probably justified a lot of the excessive talking and explanation. It's cheaper than actually showing action sequences since you can rely on various generalizations to describe epic space and ground combat. Fluff. Unfortunately, that's what I've been feeling from the read excerpts from the Protoculture Times, but it's a million times better and more convincing than Microsoft Sam doing it.

It makes you wonder where some of those artists are now? I know at least one is a member here.

The new show coming in the Fall better not suck because of this.
-
I agree, it's strange even for nostalgia. He basically manipulated his way into people's hearts, yet he's propped up as the guy who helped jump start an industry. And then they completely ignore all the stuff he did before and after Robotech, especially when Robotech never had an ending outside of a shunned novel. It wouldn't be an issue if the stuff he's identified with didn't exist at least 2 years prior in another language made by different people. Plus, there's the real talented people who continue to get screwed from his work or the consequences of his work. It's all a blatant @ss pull to get to your wallet people. Also, that youtube video from his funeral is very, very creepy for something that has nothing to do with Robotech. WTF?
-
Hmm, so that's why humanity kept getting pawned and never moved beyond the Sol system, or more specifically Earth, Mars, and (probably) various unspecified outposts with no civilian population.
-
You would think that they would've fixed problems like that ever since the mis-fold to Pluto 10 years prior and the mass production of ships ever since with the same abilities. Just like everything driven by Protoculture or bartered by aliens, it was a very costly, but acceptable, liability.
-
I always thought of the five year fold as Deus Ex Machina to fit a convoluted story filled with constant urgency. I don't know. Personally, I have a feeling that they could have told people anything to keep them interested. Not that it matters anymore, since HG has pretty much made that feeling very clear. Sorry everyone, the need for willing suspension of disbelief for a lot of this has really screwed me up. When it comes to Robotech these days, all I think of is $$$ as its unifying thread rather than an actual story with in-universe explanations for stuff. It's magnified even more by the crap many of us see on a regular basis. Don't get me wrong, Macross and other franchises are sometimes accused of that as well, but they sure put a hell of a lot more effort in making it work than here.
-
I wouldn't worry about stuff like that too much. HG apparently didn't when they made all this up back in the 80s, or at least stood behind some of it.
