Seriously, what image? The whole company's role is behind the scenes work for other people's stuff. If it wasn't for the legalities involving Macross, no one would ever know what Harmony Gold is or care. It would be one of those names in fine print people ignore in opening and ending credits for various shows. Again, I think people are still confusing the company as something that does more in the entertainment business, like making stuff.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v3.0
Einherjar replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I finished watching Votoms Shining Heresy this weekend, after being unable to find a sub for it for years. However, now I'm just sad from the ending. From there, I went directly into the Phantom Arc OVA, the 25th Anniversary show for the TV series. -
Whew, I thought I was the only one who saw it.

Yeah, it's hard to forget that in the very beginning, it was all about letting audiences see other people's quality work as authentically as possible. Yet, somewhere down the line they ended up making many, many, many, MANY, MANY compromises leading to now. Oh, and a single picture to milk all of it 25 years later. For a series that was a gateway show for anime and the like, it's more of a hindrance these days.

Will there be any old save game extras we'll be missing out on for Mass Effect 2? Bioware was always fond of that stuff.
-
Hmm, they forgot about Mint and Dana, but whatever. Taking the moral high ground for a 3 times as violent show (3 shows worth and more extremes in the novels) isn't the best idea in confronting utter silence in a franchise.

All Things Video Games Thread: II

Even though it's a prequel, maybe having nothing to do with the other games, I have a feeling it might explain some of the stuff that happened during the There's Something in the Sea ARG. -
The Mass Effect 2 business reminds me of the Shenmue II fiasco for the X box. Like with Dead Rising 2, I have some problems with getting to play only the sequel, especially when it's an RPG with a lot to keep track of. Though, with Dead Rising, the story isn't that complicated, it's just a good zombie killing game that you don't need to immerse yourself in.

WORST Sci-Fi TV series of all time.....
Einherjar replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Anyone remember Cleopatra 2525? It was pretty much a sci-fi Charlie's Angels in a dark future, probably done by the guys that did Hercules and Xena. At half an hour per episode, and most of it focusing on the hot girls, I really forgot if there was actually a plot. From the wiki, I'm really surprised it lasted 2 seasons. Needs a personal story? Okay, one scene I remember was one of the girls, semi-naked, getting a back massage by some beefy man. Then some bad guys start shooting up the place, hitting the man and revealing he's some sort of robot/cyborg. Afterward, I think they spent the rest of the episode finding the culprit or finding a way to repair the masuse. Remember, it's a 30 minute show, think what can happen in that time.- 279 replies

I'd only care if any of these people actually worked in an industry. Also, after all the festivities and distractions are out of the way, the only thing people really want to know is "Where is Rick Hunter?" Everything else is milking their 15 minutes of fame.

The Dollar Store. I saw a copy of the Vol. 1 DVD with the dub that ADV Films made with random volumes of Brigadoon, Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor, InuYasha and others at my local store.

Dammit. Screw this.

If it wasn't for this explanation, I would have confused the picture of Edward as Roy Focker, or an evil clone of him by design.

At the rate we're consuming resources as a whole, we have to settle new worlds or we'll kill each other eventually. -
So, about the campaign:

So why would there be interest in what the editor of a piece of work had to say about another person's work that he had exclusive access to? He's not an artist who drew anything that fascinated audiences all over the world, or the guy for created the story or concepts that made it into the show. I see a loose reinterpretation of other people's stuff, and yet he gets more credit than the people who did the real work. Oh, pretty pictures and stories full of fluff to detract from what's really going on. Forget it, I'm sold.

Did staff from a Sci-Fi channel original movie get a promotion or something?
-
With all the animation work being done in Asia, and the lack of information about this secret project, does it really matter what it should be called anymore? Terms like OVA are just to sucker in people in the anime crowd as they did with Shadow Chronicles. To others, it's just a straight to DVD movie or whatever, especially since there are no plans to put this on TV. They're all interchangeable to fit their promotional needs. For all we know, it could really be animation done a personal computer but they'll call it whatever because of all the loose associations Robotech has with different genres of entertainment.

I really hope all the stuff mentioned in this song is for a lady friend.

I'll be watching the first 4 episodes of Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor soon. Can you believe I found this at a local dollar store with a bunch of other anime (and not knockoff shows)? -
So a Macross sequel doesn't even fit the bill? Not enough exposition and such to be worthy of whatever people have been obsessing about?
-
I think this is a very important tidbit that was mentioned for the project. As the brainchild for this outing, he shares the burden for its failure if it goes down that road. It would be a hell of a way to get back into the franchise when Tommy Yune did not live up to people's high expectations.
