  1. After seeing this movie, I'm more enthusiastic about the Avengers movie that's in the works. They just might be able to pull off some kind of Marvel movie continuity in a good way. Also, I wish I could smash a cup on the floor after eating/drinking a good meal too.
  2. So is he saying they're the ones doing the animation for the thing and not a professional studio in Asia this time around? Not Dr. Movie or anyone that works on animation for a living, but Harmony Gold? If so, when did they get the capacity to do that? I think that revealing who is actually doing the animation would really help the credibility of this production, because as of now news like this hasn't really been newsworthy outside of Robo-Tech and HG affiliated things. And that's saying much considering so far this year they've been going to conventions showing up rough work for this new production and only MEMO, out of the entire Internet it seems, took the time to make a big deal about it. Or have I gotten it all wrong and Robo-Tech and HG has already lost a lot of credibility from industries as well as fans?
  3. So the 3+ years of waiting for another production has been worthwhile for people? I'm just seeing an endless cycle of people getting screwed repeatedly from Robo-Tech. And that's in every context of these words you can imagine.
  4. Didn't the original action figures for Robo-Tech characters have... questionable quality? Sure, would be for satire anyway, but can you really see them doing skits with them? They could make mock ups for the characters themselves, but legalities aside, imagine them using figures like this: Lisa Hayes figures
  5. That's just bad timing because I have more important things to do than hear some guys faking credibility, like the Rapture.
  6. You know, maybe those people at Family Radio predicting the end of the world might be right. We're all dead by Saturday people! D:
  7. A big difference between the Star Trek example and Robo-Tech is that J.J. Abrams and co. actually cared about the source material. Perhaps RTSC was a desperate attempt by a company with little to no connections with the comic book and anime/animation industry trying to set themselves apart within their own means. Nostalgia does all the rest and they get money for people believing this and other stuff they made have the slightest connection to the original show. There's no heart in it compared to other shows/franchises since none of the people who actually made shows (character and mechanical designs for instance), were ever involved in it. Probably the only heart you'll see from it now will be remembrance for Robo-Tech's fallen creator, enough to make a drinking contest out of.
  8. You mean robosexual. Also, support Proposition Infinity everyone!
  9. A short and quick response from my personal experience - no, you might hear nothing significant about Robo-Tech this summer, but expect MEMO to make a big deal about whatever happens. That's really all he does online. But hey, like every other year there might be a slim, slim chance that you'll hear something exciting coming around... projected in about a year following the announcement. Actually, that might not be true. Followers of the Palladium RPG will definitely get something involving Robo-Tech.
  10. Crap, what the hell?! Deus Ex Website Hacked, Customer Information Stolen
  11. Then I guess people aren't dedicated enough to the franchise to go through all expense to see the same 2 people playing up Robo-tech and believe the speculation/crazy troll logic from their "insiders."
  12. I just want Netflicks on the PS3 again. Initially, you can still access the program after ignoring the sign in, but after you pick what you want to watch you get the prompt to sign into PSN again and the download stops because it won't/can't go through.
  13. Some of the PS3 Hackers May be Turning On Themselves
  14. Oh my gawd guys, he should totally do a podcast about it.
  15. I've been thinking recently that HG has really been taking advantage of what the makers of Astro Plan were able to do with the blatant rip off of Gundam and Macross material without legal actions against them. Also, I'm reminded about the time when, IIRC, a life size Gundam knockoff somewhere in China was built and it took a while for the people behind it to take it down for legal reasons. It could be one of the reasons why they're focusing a lot of their attention (merchandising) in places like China right now. That, or because it's both cheaper and more profitable for them to follow the real money rather than their normal bases. Who knows, HG may even follow Star Blazer's lead and try to convince the Syfy channel to show reruns of Robo-Tech. Anything to regain relevance (but more importantly money), right?
  16. The taking down of Playstation Network and all the damage to Sony was possibly for this guy's sake?
  17. The weakness of being a loosely organized group of people that value anonymity is that they actively make enemies far too often and have accountability issues. Report: Hackers Say Anonymous Likely Behind Sony Attacks They should have chosen a better way to hurt Sony, and only Sony, or have more self restraint if this is true.
  18. So far, the only problem I had with a PS3 was probably damage from improper packaging. My brother gave me his after returning from abroad. The first time I turned it on, a plume of dust blew from the side of the system and worked for a couple of days. Then I got a yellow light error every time I turned it on and had to send it to Sony for repairs. But that was totally my brother's fault, especially since he got it second hand and was living in a desert area at the time. It might be a 60 GB because I was able to play my copy of Final Fantasy VII on it.
  19. But these shows are in the entertainment business, where profitability and ratings are really important for their survivability. Southern Cross failed in both as the show ended in a cliffhanger, merchandise was minimal and the only people who really care about it at this point is HG and Robotech. And even then they put more emphasis on Macross and Mospeada in everything they say and do while treating it as an bad decision just to guarantee syndication potential. If people like it, there's nothing wrong with that. Just don't expect HG to do much with it since these days it's all about making money cheaply rather than unique art, mecha designs, and noteworthy stories to make up. Still, that was some nice fan(?) art.
  20. If the network was so vulnerable in the first place, what prevented hackers from doing all this damage sooner? Was the jailbraking of the PS3 and hacks following it just a coincidence?
  21. Remember that someone was finally able to hack into the system recently and showed off how he did it. His work may have been used by other people to do more damage than anyone imagined.
  22. I blame this entirely on George Hotz. He just had to be very open about being able to hack the PS3. What good did that really do anyway?
  23. Wasn't Judgement Day a while back? Anyway, recently it felt like Skynet took out PSN.
  24. I couldn't find the old Live Action Akira thread, so I thought this might be an appropriate spot to post this because the LAM Robo-tech and Warner Brothers. Whenever they decide to get serious about it, this issue is bound to rear its ugly head for that production as well. True, HG already made some changes to characters in the original three shows that made up Robo-tech to make the point moot, it may still be a sensitive issue, among many, especially with how the franchise came to be in the first place. Takei to WB: Do the Right Thing
  25. I think by now one company desperately wants any huge payout from this situation. Remember the "grass roots marketing" defense for RT 20XX? The other two are doing just fine regardless.
