  1. Please blow Schumacher's Bane out of the water next year new Bane. It's honestly not that hard.
  2. Seriously, there's a cause?
  3. I can; Happy 5th! Birthday to Shadow Chronicles in advance, that crazy little experiment by HG to essentially say "Screw You" to legitimate anime. And look where it has led since. Mark your calenders, Wikipedia says it's August 26.
  4. At first I thought the trailer was another Conan promo, but it may actually be good. I remember that. So bad that it got featured on The Soup years ago as a Sci-Fi Channel original movie and Clip of the Week.
  5. Guess he's not here to make friends. They're cleaning house for once? Funny, I thought something like this would be more of a priority: Robotech The Shadow Chronicles, part 1, absolutely free since 2008, big screw you to HG, Netflicks, Hulu, etc., protect your legal asset
  6. Thank God other people have more to offer besides one minute clips of rough animation and auto-tuned music for an upcoming soundtrack at Comic-Con,amirite?
  7. A toast to you departed sir for helping inspire Lost.
  8. But it was utilized, if only to give the show a chance in syndication in the first place. That's given them far more money then developing original toys, especially in this economy. This isn't Hasbro.
  9. When I say "significant investment" in terms of "Harmony Gold and Toynami money," I mean economically and feasibly not possible at all. Like "Oh my God why are we in this business?!" risky.
  10. It still sounds like a significant investment in terms of Harmony Gold and Toynami money. They aren't like other companies that do this kind of stuff on a regular basis, and the work shows.
  11. So you want them to invest, regardless of risk, in resurrecting and fully realizing a design from a 15+ year old discontinued toyline that originally came from a series made in 1984, citing quotes from people almost 10 years old now that it will be profitable in 2011?
  12. I see they're still getting used to this crazy thing called the "Internet." And phones that are cameras and video recorders.
  13. With Shadow Chronicles, I was sure the audience was loyal fans who wanted to see the overall story come to an end for once, especially after they were replacing the content in the novels. But yet again, it ended in another cliffhanger. It's probably still them with this, but they're doing a story few people expected or wanted at this point. I guess closure after 25 years isn't a priority at the moment.
  14. Ok, so it was official and designed to fail in the first place. Is there already a Robo-tech version about its background or is it a contrived explanation to look forward to when they release more information about this murky area of the timeline? Remember that they have no problem retconing previous information into something completely different to suit their needs.
  15. There is an extreme sense of irony about this to me. Despite of all the variant designs that have come around for mecha and ships in each era, due to the structure of the narrative all the variants made during one era are going to become obsolete, ineffective, completely destroyed, or not that popular to use in-universe eventually due to the transition from one show to another (or simply, @SS pull). So the VF-4 look alike may be jarring, but its whole purpose could be to just get destroyed to make way for the official Alpha design. Ironically, it also works the other way around in official continuations like Shadow Chronicles with the Shadow Fighter; a variant of the Alpha with superior technology, successor maybe, but so seriously flawed in-universe (and in real life ) that the RDF had to go back to plain Alphas or the ill-defined Super Shadow Fighter. In a sense, they were all designed to fail, so why care? It's art imitating life. Just more mecha that will have the most use in a Palladium book afterwards.
  16. Posted before it gets deleted: Comedy Central link
  17. So that's why Voltron and the lions look different. Can you imagine the original being able to swap parts like that? It's like an Aquarion now.
  18. What's up with the spooky music? The RDF passed on that design for the Alphas. http://www.robotech.com/infopedia/mecha/viewmecha.php?id=60 Guessing that's a prototype that underperformed in live combat or freely using material from the show that they have rights to in order to help form continuity. You'll really know how much the VF-4 (and Zentradi?) sucked in Invid-style combat in 2011-2012-20XX. They're paying someone else to do these. You should be saying pay these animators MORE for better quality.
  19. These worldwide economic downturn problem must to unique to HG only, since other companies with panels at Anime Expo 2011 seem to be doing better and more productive.
  20. Based on the medium he works for, or implies he works for, the "arena" is actually Asia, the ones really taking the risks are animators and companies within that region, his company takes most of the credit because they either financed the work done for their use or legally claimed the rights of other works for their use, and said works are mostly promoted/pimped outside that region by people who haven't worked on animation a day in their lives. Tommy? Maybe. Kevin? Probably not. And as a professional in the medium, he and his peers are fair game for criticism, so he/they should really suck it up.
  21. No matter what was said or what people were trying to say, while being filmed and then posted on the Internet no less, it doesn't change the fact that their news is people are getting nothing to very little for 2011. Two weeks are probably not going to change anything for the Comic-Con panel either. Basically, it's going to be like every other year.
  22. Just check out all the other videos that poster uploaded on Robo-tech conventions over the years. Painstakingly informative, conveniently all in one place on the Internet, and, unfortunately, not very well thought out if someone was trying to put a positive spin in this. Best of all, there's more to come.
  23. And without that crucial piece of information the videos become useless, because everything else said in the panel has been done before in other panels or not really newsworthy.
  24. Some theaters give out 3D glasses when you watch those films, and they expect you to return them.
