    What are you talking about? There's another DVD set of the original 85 episodes coming out next month. A re-re-re-re-re-release is something to be psyched about, right? Also, apparently, this is too for some reason: Everyone should watch Futurama tonight. Let me guess, in addition to the Voltron theme, the crew paid HG for to use music from Robotech? The anime section of tonight's episode has some connection to Macross, which can also be attributed to Robotech? There's commentary about dubs in the 80's? Confirmed.

    Guess being a chick magnet is totally genetic in Lion-O's family. They sure know how to pick 'em. This week's episode revealed just how big a universe this new series is and really looking forward to it. I'm expecting planet hopping in the future.

    Yeah, they should take out all that stuff and make the crapsack world/universe they always wanted to portray without "distractions."

    Remember when people on this thread were talking about someone having the guts to put ads for a DYRL or other release in magazines and seeing if any company would be pissed enough to go to court for it? I think Entertainment One unintentionally put HG close to that kind of situation.

    Futurama is good sci-fi satire.

    Not impressed at all, they can't keep relying on the fact that certain circles use Robotech and Macross interchangeably to confuse people. Guess Robotech still strives on sloppy seconds, eh?

    Gotta remember that it was only a week or two ago that the main cast finally got assembled. Character development episodes might start once they find out what they really have to do to fight Mumm Ra.

    Is getting a steady paycheck and maintaining high position in a franchise for as long as possible not considered capitalizing it? I'd love to have his job, or any of the big three, if I got to do as little as he did... if I only didn't have stupid standards. I bet he's going to pull a Olivia Munn eventually. She stayed on G4 for a while pretending to like videogames and other geek stuff and then jumped ship to other ventures to further her career. All the while there was a minority of people who speculated that she was faking it during her time there and using G4 as a stepping stone, which became more convincing when when she suddenly went on to the Daily Show of all places.

    And then just after that the show definitely deserved that "S" rating from last week. Seriously, someone needs to get a room.

    Don't forget it's on Hulu. It's so readily available, and legally, that a new set isn't necessary unless HG is really struggling.

    Now that you mentioned it, weren't both shows on UPN at one time? Since they weren't Star Treks show at the time, I think that says enough.

    So would you say that Robotech is doing fine these days using that reasoning?

    Yes, but if all companies can do with it is a Shadow Chronicles and a Voltron Force, what's the point? They may own rights to various stuff that's important to a franchise's survival, but they can't really do much with it. They're always going to be judged by the original works that while they have the rights over, they do not have control over the talent that made the works special enough to generate interest. They're stuck making derivatives, and openly and embarrassingly shallow ones at best, slapping the franchise's name on it, and hoping for the best.

    I have a hard time believing any of that is actually true. To me at least, it's also a strong hint at what the new Robotech documentary is going to be like on the A&E collection; laying it thick with self congratulation fluff.
