That is not true. Tommy Yune, the creative director, somehow found time in his busy schedule working on Robotech Love Live Alive to get involved in a new Speed Racer comic book. http://www.animenews...comic-announced Priorities, dood.

The most notable thing? Using the Zeta Gundam movie trilogy as a point of reference as to how Robotech Love Live Alive could be like solely on the fact that it mixed old and new animation with modern digital technology or whatever. It's premature considering HG is combining animation done 25 years ago, made by someone else, with modern animation, made by a still unknown 3rd party studio with probably no relation to the original animators, and the editing process that finalized Shadow Chronicles to make a feature that is supposed to be a continuation of the franchise and tribute to Carl Macek. Also, don't forget they're poor, this is important. And, I admit I don't know much about the terminology regarding the animation business, but when you're caught saying things like "We've ordered more minutes of animation beyond the initial order," that's not very encouraging.

AKIRA LIVE ACTION MOVIE = Life Support?
Einherjar replied to Macross007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I kinda regret going down that road with my link. -
Since it involves real anime for once, I thought more people would care. Might be because this thing was revealed at a private event and the real fallout is coming right after the next convention panel, Oct. 29-30, when they make it official. However, maybe people genuinely don't.

Transending the Protoculture

Well, Grace was human at one time, and the things we do are pretty illogical sometimes. She did lose her humanity and became pretty much a Cylon because of the Vajra too. -

...and Mini-Me as one of the Espers I bet. -
What also sucks is when that half do a lot to supplement that PR work voluntarily. Let's just say after going through a couple of minutes of tonight's live Robotech World show, I can only describe the atmosphere regarding Love Live Alive in two words: hopelessly optimistic. Certain people really do live by their online signatures ("IF IT DOESN'T EXIST...BUILD IT"). It really makes me want to know what the the rest of the anime watching community thinks about recent happenings for perspective.

Whatever helps them sleep at night waiting for Love Live Alive, the LAM, and Shadow Rising for another year, I don't care. So, anyone remember VH1's I Love the 80's? It was pretty much interviews with celebrates and popular people at the time talking about specific things that happened in the decade. Each year was given an hour episode, and you know what they didn't talk about for the 1985 episode? Robotech. Even worse, the series was so good that they did two sequels talking about other stuff that wasn't covered the first time. In three episodes devoted to 1985 over the course of the three series, Robotech wasn't a topic. Yet, there were segments devoted to Voltron and Transformers. My point is maybe it wasn't as popular as certain people say it was even in the mainstream and by celebrities who don't have a future investment in the franchise at the time of being interviewed. To drive the point home, even Wil Wheaton was interviewed, and he looked enthusiastic talking about the Voltron segment.

Because we're anime purists and snobs while they're only interested in it for Robotech.
-
And you are setting yourself up for disappointment.
-
So does the first video count as a spoiler?
-
They'll only watch anime/animation touched by one person/company and we're the snobs for wanting diversity? Better to be a purist than someone who only consumes bastardizations, and with Robotech Love Live Alive, it's now painfully obvious bastardizations.

If Carl's methods were still used by people not in Harmony Gold in bringing anime to the West or still used period, then guilt tripping dissenters could be valid. Now, fortunately, with Love Live Alive revealed it looks like everyone/everything except Robotech has moved on from it for good reasons. Then again, other productions do not have the problem of being run by posers. Also, as Tim Eldred noted earlier, others were also doing it at the that time too, and better in the long run.

NuBSG could have focused more on how life is like stuck in a ragtag fleet with no place to call home. The perspective was on the Galactica and Capital One too much throughout the series. I would have liked to know how the rest of the population was trying to cope with the situation. World building in a sense combined with aspects of a space strategy game like Homeworld. It's too late now that it has a definite end and the only thing the production crew can do is go backwards or back to the 70's version.

AKIRA LIVE ACTION MOVIE = Life Support?

Think Torque (Fast and Furious with motorcycles) or Biker Boyz with science fiction elements put in and the disturbing imagery taken as seriously as naked Dr. Manhattan in the Watchman was by audiences. I probably still like Kanye West's version better when it's made. -
It's true though, they (Harmony Gold) never used it, and you know that anything that happens only in Asia doesn't count.

I hope those involved in the film know that the original wasn't all about biker gangs. There's more to it than Kaneda's bike. And good luck trying to translate everything else into the big screen without freaking people out. -
Could've been worse. Imagine how Lost fans feel by their finale. However, I still have reservations about BSG's ending too.

That explains why descriptions of their Love Live Alive sounds like they'll be cannibalizing the original to fit whatever storytelling needs they have.
-
I think I saw that one in a Barnes and Nobles once, but not at that price. The Architecture set name sounds familiar.
-
Remember, rather than Rick Hunter, HG flaunts Tommy Yune's "Rick Hunter" these days. There's a huge difference, young and old version included. So anyway, HG treated Michael Bradley worse than Michael Bay treated Stan Bush in the Transformers films?

Edited, please delete post.

I guess that's nice, but I wish the powers that be would make up their minds on which version of the series to focus on.
