    I'd start with the original and its movies first if you want to get the best explaination of the overall plot at this point. It may also put things that happen in the Rebuild movies in a different context with that prior knowledge. Be mindful of your sanity throughout it, though.

    I think this is the first time Anime News Network has ever mentioned that Love Live Alive is actually being worked on. It might also be the first time outside of Macross related news or a legality question that Robotech has been mentioned at all for a while there.

    So Macross just has plain bad luck year after year overseas. A total coincidence that it just keeps happening all the time and not any particular company's fault. Well, good thing someone put the old legal thread that was locked here to good use.

    It reinforces the fact that Robotech is just 3 shows forcefully put together by foreigners for various post-post-production reasons? Also, a Hollywood movie will let them get away with this fact even more?

    Great idea to construct a new space bound transformable battleship right next to the first one... in a man made lake... in its robot form initially. Yeah yeah, convoluted explanation to connect Southern Cross to Macross and whatnot back when this was taken seriously.

    If you are referring to new Robotech productions, Love Live Alive is being made using Mospeada's OVA made almost 30 years ago with new animation (and is being delayed) while Shadow Rising, and the story arc started by Shadow Chronicles, has been delayed indefinitely to prevent conflicts with WB's plans regarding the RINO (Robotech In Name Only) film. Realistically, it's like everything depends on this film being taken seriously to keep the franchise alive, since HG is pretty much useless without relying on the source material they've milked enough from. And if things play out like before, the news about another random person getting attached to the film is both going to be the the biggest thing to happen for the RINO film this year and the only thing to happen for the RINO film this year.

    To me at least, it's not dissappointment but anxiety with where the hell is the story going to end up this time around.

    It scares me that they only have at most 120 minutes to bring this story to a close after taking that route in 4.0.

    That's Shadow Rising. At this point some of us won't live long enough to see it.

    That makes me wonder why they would approach someone with that kind of background in the industry for this. Also, is it just me, or does it seem like the people that have been approached to work on the RINO over the years have come and gone in a descending order of industry experience/reputation up to now? Judging by Nic Mathieu's resume, it seems like they've come to the point where they're getting just about anyone for it.

    Just to save everybody's time, Nic Mathieu's name was added to the RINO slide. Here's last year's slide. That's it. Totally worth the effort.

    I am now up to date with the Rebuild of Evangelion movies and ready for a non camrip 3.0. The only thing that dissappointed me was Mari Makinami Illustrious. I thought her character was going to be developed more over the course of the second film, instead of just popping out of nowhere doing crazy stuff. She's hot, but that's probably all I can say about her. So far, I think Mana Kirishima has had more character development when it comes to new girls introduced to the franchise, and she was only in the dating sims (and the accompanying manga to one of them).
