Also, something to think about concerning the "game changer" at the end of LLA.

A simpler, business-minded explanation: he and co. set out to do something, made some promises to fans, and simply delivered them in a timely fashion most of the time. When they started something, they made sure to finish it. They didn't spend years making up excuses for project delays and unfufilled promises while moving on to other plans out of the blue. Also, it's easy to think a franchise is going through a dry spell when it can only operate freely in one part of the world thanks to harsh legal restrictions, as Zor Primus showed.

Robotech x Voltron crossover... what the...I don't even...
Einherjar replied to Tochiro's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Unfortunately, he and everyone in that situation have been making that and other excuses for YEARS. Even more tragic is that there are people out there who believe it. Every. Single. Time. -

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Einherjar replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Back when I was a kid and my family had a lot of Betamax tapes, I vaguely remembered having a copy of this old anime that I forgot the name of involving a huge spaceship, three guys with custom ships and weapons and a princess-like character rode around the galaxy. Unfortunately, I forgot about it once my Beta player broke down and got rid of all our tapes. Thanks to the Internet and on a whim, though, I was finally able to track down that anime as Starzinger, or Spaceketeers in the West. Knowing nothing beyond what I remembered from the video I had no idea Leiji Matsumoto actually created it, or at least the manga. I didn't know it's pretty much a sci-fi version of Journey to the West, but thinking back on it it explains why the male lead for some reason wore a golden circlet and when he wears his faceplate he somewhat looks like a monkey. Also, it must be a good year for the series as an abridged dubbed version is coming out soon. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-05-10/shout-factory-adds-leiji-matsumoto-starzinger/spaceketeers If you're patient, I've also found at least one group fansubbing the original. -

There's 3 games in with the X3 name. If you're talking about X3 Reunion, it's true that it had a lot of bugs when it first got released. Not sure if Terran Conflict or Albion Prelude, stand alone sequels/expansion packs to Reunion, had the same problems.- 6756 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Einherjar replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Man, throughout the first movie, everytime Griffith came on I kept thinking to myself there is no way that he could be a dude. I think it would be so easy to dub him as a woman and no one would notice. Otherwise, it was a great movie. Hopefully, the films have the same effect as the Game of Thrones series potentially has on George R. R. Martin in motivating Miura to complete the manga. -

I was really impressed when I randomly looked at some clips of the Berserk movies on youtube. I'll try to watch them when I get the chance. Does anyone know if Kentaro Miura returned from his hiatus to work on the manga again? Also, did the animation studio really exaggerate how Griffith looked like in the manga? Knowing you for the last couple of months? You'll probably hate a lot of stuff. -

Maybe butt-hurt that no one in the industry wants to associate themselves with them or their franchise anymore. -
Robotech x Voltron crossover... what the...I don't even...
Einherjar replied to Tochiro's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
He really shouldn't comment on an industry he and his company are apparantly no longer a part of beyond the rights over 3 very old shows and a very loose relationship with Tatsunoko. That being said, this partnership with World Events Productions, which has similar problems with Voltron, makes sense. -
If this was released before the Internet age, I'd probably believe it. But as it is 2013, they can say such things because let's face it, there's no one who can dispute any claims they put out there legally outside of Japan. Not even the actual creators. At this point I think they can pretty much lie without any repercussions whatsoever and there will be people out there who will believe whatever they say.

Unless this is another attempt to argue the franchise's actions in recent years, the first issue will be released this Fall, no specifics. http://www.robotech.com/community/forum/read.php?id=2181009&forumid=31 -

Can you really blame people for being dissappointed, wolf? I thought whatever came after Shadow Chronicles was actually going to be their put up or shut up moment in recent times as a way to prove that yes, the franchise can stand on its own without relying on cues from 30 year old animation to tell their stories. And then this randomly took priority and somehow the it became Macek's swan song whether that's true or not. And now you want people to wait another couple of years for them to deliver on their promises yet again? That sounds like the same, tired excuses fans have been using out of loyalty and nostalgia, and since 2007 or before at that.

So now what? Back to waiting for the Shadow Rising/Hollywood movie/Voltron crossover/tabletop kickstarter/plushies? Because in the end it looks like story wise nothing really happened in this feature and the real selling point is nostalgia factor and closure to the New Generation (which I thought Shadow Chronicles already did over 5 years ago). Also, HG trolled fans yet again with a Rick Hunter cameo.

SDCC 2013 Hasbro Exclusives: Jetfire Skystriker
Einherjar replied to Chet's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
So if I'm understanding the pics and link areaseven posted, they're suing Hasbro over a toy that has a likeness to what they own only after some assembly required? The stickers/decals packaged with the toy, which the buyer has to physically put on the toy after purchase, makes it appear to infringe on their legal rights if and only if said buyer took the time to "complete" the toy by themselves? Without them, it looks more like a generic fighter plane fresh out of the box?- 158 replies
