  1. I hope somewhere down the line this whole legal fiasco turns out to be worth it.
  2. I don't know, I thought this might be relevant. http://kotaku.com/the-dangers-of-kickstarter-explained-with-a-sandwich-1442596374 Kickstarter update 9/25:
  3. http://kotaku.com/walter-whites-secret-history-of-nerd-acting-1440924784 A brief look back into Bryan Cranston's career.
  4. Yup. http://geek-news.mtv.com/2013/09/16/power-con-2013-thundercats-reboot-creator-details-the-second-season-that-could-have-been/
  5. If you count the romance subplot not getting resolved at all in the show and manga as depressing, then yes.
  6. For some reason, I am reminded of something said a long time ago concerning a Peter Pan Syndome said by a guy, who probably had/has that problem but would never admit it, trying to use it to explain another person's very rational disappointment with how a certain franchise was being run. I think his name was Hartman or something. If only he knew what was really in store for him in the next few years. Long story short, I've learned that nostalgia makes fools out of everyone, especially when it is used to judge a "film" overwhelmingly positively over its actual merit.
  7. It's becoming more and more like Call of Duty with both play and real money.
  8. I didn't really like the 2011 season, or season 6-B as they call it. The previous season was a pretty tough act to follow and my expectations were pretty high because of it. In hindsight the Christmas anthology episode prior to it should have been a warning sign. There were exceptions, though, like "Tip of the Zoidberg" and "Overclockwise" for its ending as a possible series finale. As finales go, however, "Meanwhile" blew it out of the water.
  9. Your nostalgia and bias is showing, but I can't argue with that. Robotech was telling a pretty linear story edited from Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada. And then it just ended abruptly at episode 85, with the crew having huge dreams of where to take the franchise which ended up being a string of humiliating delusions of grandeur. Blame was apparantly always on something/someone else for these failures, never on them. You should also remember the other flopps HG did to try to do something different; The Movie/Untold Story (hey, they paid for a couple of minutes of new animation for this one too!), Robotech II: The Sentinels (it was really supposed to run longer than Legend of Galactic Heroes?), Shadow Chronicles (took them so many years to complete and will take many more to just conclude the storyline if they're lucky). Probably the only thing that did well was the novels, and those are no longer official in HG's eyes even though they continue selling them. I'd take that universe over that pretentious saga you mentioned.
  10. It doesn't bother you that they haven't move past any of those things in almost 30 years?
  11. After following the second run of the series from the beginning to end, I think the most suprising thing I learned from it is that the crew, having worked in the past or currently on the Simpsons, is still really talented. They're able to come up with good episodes despite the arguable lack of quality coming from said show in recent years. It's as if the possiblity of getting canceled from year to year gave them motivation to put more effort into their work than usual. They didn't have the protection of being a cult pop culture icon to just come up with episodes about pretty much anything and be able to get away with it. And boy, when they win an Emmy for this show, I think they really deserve it compared to achievements with The Simpsons these days.
  12. I'd call that new animation "noticable." Plus, it looks like they ripped and Photoshopped the A.D. 2044 at the bottom right of the screen near the end from the first episode of Macross.
  13. It was a great second run, even if it went through some rough spots.
  14. Turns out I was wrong, they did talk about it and probably got my message. It apparantly came out on a slow week. http://io9.com/this-week-s-dvds-is-full-of-bad-movies-but-mst3k-is-he-871974178 Judging by the comments there, no one only one guy gave a damn about it.
  15. Another nostalgia piece that focuses primarily on Macross, trying to rationalize this version and talked about in the past sense. That's nothing new.I remember in January e-mailing i09 about Love live Alive, thinking someone would want to do a review about it when it came out. I figured someone would appreciate the publicity somewhere down the line. Guess this is why nothing happened with it.
  16. Ben Affleck as Batman doesn't sound that ridiculous to me. These don't either. He needs a to have a good playboy millionaire facade, a terrorizing raspy voice while wearing a costume, and be able to do a believable badass when beating up thugs and maybe Superman for the role. I think he's done a lot of that during his career already.
  17. That's not how Robotech works, Perrych. Sorry you are going to see what it's become since it's glory days. Trust me, it's a very sad and common story.
  18. The good news everyone, Mospeada Love Live Alive is finally getting an official release. The bad news, pay HG and Lionsgate another $100-$200 for it, you suckers! http://www.cityonfire.com/robotech-is-back-with-another-20-disc-collectable-set/ Well, I think I'm done talking about this BS to death. Everything I predicted from the first time they announced this "film" has tragically come true. Great time to be a Robotech fan, am I right?
  19. Yes, what a visionary Carl Macek was for having three different shows made by other people he could freely manipulate and eventually milk the hell out of as the foundations for HIS franchise. There has totally been no fallout from those humble beginnings that had long standing consequences for everyone, especially those that treat him as something more than an editor. Also, ignore the fact that everything except the original show plot-wise has been in this weird limbo where the staff hasn't decided if they actually happened or not, but people still use as proof that the franchise has a rich, totally not Spice-like drug fueled, defined universe that literally runs in circles as this material unfortunately implied in a non-metaphor sense.
  20. My Sister Can't be This Sellout!
  21. All affected by The Sentinels Curse maybe (a couple of issues, an early build of the game before scrapped, and a convention trailer)?
