  1. It's not one of those "comic books are merchandise" character appearance loophole things that Dynamite Comics is already doing, is it?
  2. I don't mind if people are going to use this thread as personal catharsis now that, apparently, the professionals aren't taking it seriously anymore. However, please don't go overboard with it as you have for the last few pages, Seto.
  3. Agreed, especially when the previous victim of that problem was at attendance. And screw you Yune for ruining the premise of this thread! I put somewhat effort into the thread opener with the help of the mods and then you casually blow off half a million that the company has been trying to get for a month (like a boss!).
  4. Surely there will be some word of mouth promotion going on overdrive all weekend as well. I mean, why go through the expense of doing stuff like inviting Cesar if all you have planned for him is, apparently, just being at a panel?
  5. Were any important questions asked regarding the Kickstarter, at all? Did azrael get through to anyone after all this time?
  6. RINO Hunter, and for just a cameo. Also, remember that there still is the Voltron crossover thread and that Dynamite Comics has more plans for the franchise after that finishes. You could always repurpose that thread if this fails. Heck, that venture and Academy might be linked in a cross promotional thing after tonight.
  7. Maybe the big surprise is going to be that they've made the first half of the pilot with their own money, thus explaining where all the teasers they've promoted so far came from.
  8. Bonus points for potentially endangering the success of the Kickstarter even further.
  9. So at the halfway point with sixteen days left, there is +$300,000 left to go, a one hour panel at a prestigious convention that could to sell it, at least one staff member possibly unraveling online promoting the hell out of it, another who just doesn't care anymore and finally being honest about his opinions of the OSM in interviews, another one who possibly got suckered into this mess, an impassioned speech almost pleading to rally the fans for more money, fans scrambling to use whatever social media tools available to get new backers and even celebrities to the cause, kit bashed ship designs, RINO Hunter, a cheap multi-million dollar mogul who won't finance the project, a table top game stealing its thunder, new spandex girl, and space lemurs (?). If I missed anything I don't care. The next few days may get even crazier. EDIT: too harsh language
  10. Sorry to ask this, but how perceptive is the Gundam online community when it comes to things like this...?
  11. I think they've past the point of no return for such things.
  12. There's a thread about here. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=39009 It is believed that the Kickstarter was supported by a huge amount of Battletech fans because it would finally give them a chance to collect the Unseen mecha from that franchise (repurposed mecha from Macross that HG forced them to stop using). And, of course, Macross fans. Also, in addition to new add-ons and pledge levels to attract new backers offered during the funding period, Palladium set up multiple stretch goals offering new figures and etc. whenever the total money pledged reached certain milestones. I thought they got more and more ridiculous as time went on. As the KS page shows, they have a lot of work to do. So far, out of all the figures that were promised, only a small amount of them are currently ready to be shipped out. Backers should be getting the first batch of figures sometime next month, but only after Palladium sells some of them at Gen Con to non-backers for promotional reasons. That's pissed off a lot of backers, especially when the owner of the company was forced to plead his case and ask the backers for permission to do this after the announcement. Also, what was estimated to be all competed by last December has now become an indefinite, long term commitment that the backers did not expect (but really should have). Some backers for both KSes have said this affected their feelings toward supporting Academy, but who knows.
  13. Lord of the Flies in space has been done already.
  14. You can stop now, Seto. We get it. You don't have to be an a$$ about it for the rest of the funding period.
  15. I think Tom's said as much as needed to be said at this point.
  16. Let me guess, Lindsay's hair is either green or strawberry brown.
  17. Sounds like just a normal panel for them; always on the first day of a convention and swept under the rug before the actual big news things happen, hyped up but ultimately a mundane hour of old news, and sometimes a stalker-friend videos the whole thing for the Internet confirming how repetitive it is yearly. The only difference is that about $350,000 worth of other people's money is at stake.
  18. Of course, but the people at Creavision, as genuine as Cesar appears, no longer have that luxury. If they haven't found out yet what a lot of us here know since the C&D, it might be a rude awakening what exactly they got themselves into. The honeymoon eventually ends.
  19. We should just agree that Tommy Yune isn't Mikimoto and people will have to settle for RINO (Rick In Name Only) Hunter in whatever legally mandated capacity he'll appear outside of comic books.
  20. That makes me feel sadder for Creavision, being stuck in the middle of all this either by choice or still genuinely unaware of the same things as those backers and possibly having to confront the ugly parts on the production side.
  21. Protoculture does just about everything in this universe and people accepted that.
