    Someone should really come up with a definitive list of the all of people who have been linked to this movie at certain points just to show how ridiculous that kind of promotion has been over the years.

    All the more reason why a flop could be devastating for such a successful career, combined with the expectations of the industry of him just getting higher over time. And now add a property with some shady legal footing, but very strong nostalgia value, that a studio probably wants to turn into the Anti-Transformers ASAP into the mix.

    It makes me think if Fast and the Furious 7 tanked, Sony wouldn't have cared who James Wan is. But surely one of these years there will be a sucker visionary who will actually say yes. Anyone remember how many we've gone through now?

    I remember ImaginAsian streaming a couple of episodes on their website around that time. They were too far into the series for me to catch up though.

    I did this on a whim trying to see if there was any backstory to Sony eventually getting the rights. May need to keep an eye on this for a while. Latest e-mail result was in October from a South American film distribution rep who mentioned a couple of anime series that could be good ideas for live action movies.

    Not everyone is fortunate enough to call convention panels work. He has to settle for a successful professional career. For 30+ years, even.

    The best part of it? Looks like the did their research on the verse and it was funny without going to a dark place.

    I think you're underestimating the dark side of nostalgia, which is probably the only thing helping this franchise make money these days.

    And they still have a long way to go. Maybe a third and fourth wave might be needed somewhere down the line, too.

    Besides a studio change, none of this sounds any different from when WB doing it. The new one is coincidentially a branch of a Japanese corporation and that alone gives a renewed sense of hope that it will be done "right" or ongoing, crippling legalities will finally to be "solved?"

    Or they'll spend almost 8 years wasting people's time with overblown expectations as Warner Brothers appearantly now has. Shadow Rising was supposedly put on hiatus for what they were supposed to make.

    I wonder how they'll resolve the conspiracy/alien invasion plot now that 2012 has come and gone, if it was not explained in other media yet?
