    About the RT narrator, I did not like getting spoon fed information, especially when they spoil important information to be revealed naturally later. I wouldn't mind if I was still a kid, but it's awkward watching it as an adult. One big offense I remember recently is at the end of ep. 7, Bye-Bye Mars, we're told that Rick is developing feelings towards Lisa way before that actually happens. He's more likely pissed about risking his life saving her butt in a war zone by the end of the episode. Way to be subtle omnipresent voice over guy. Either the narrator was an early example of a shipper or Macek really hated Minmay from day one.

    I'm just wondering if the same thing happened to the English dub of Bleach under Macek? Robotech probably should have ended after the 85 episode series. But I'm guessing Carl Macek got greedy by the end of it and wanted the franchise to be something more timeless. Unfortunately, the work after showed that he knew very little about making original animation and keeping a franchise alive without relying on other people's work for inspiration. The rest had to be done in other media like comics and novels of varying quality afterward. In the end, the best he could do was milk it for all it was worth until he knew it was time to walk away.

    They will have to be careful what they change and how they change it for the movie. The whole thing could become unrecognizable to even Robotech fans but crazy awesome to everyone else who don't know, which I assume is the target audience now. They could get past the legal issues this way, but Robotech may never be the same again.

    It sounds more like a PR move rather than credible information. Probably a calculated one since he said it during a Q&A portion of the podcast (Space Station Liberty) with ties to the staff to assure the fandom about the status of the fanchise while at the same time covering his mouth against legal problems. Also, Kevin Mckeever is listed as a marketing coordinator, so he could be a glorified yes man or sly liar for Robotech.

    Just checked bandai-ent.com and the hidden messages in the source code are gone. On the site the twitter and blog sites have gone down. It looks like the company got downsized and people got fired or something. The messages may have been a final goodbye from some of the staff.

    I'm betting it's something concerning Eureka Seven. There is a movie planned for release in April, so it could be for that. If it's for the complete collection, maybe I'll give it a try. Though for now, I hope I'm wrong and it does turn out to be something Macross.

    If they went that route they may have an easier time doing it like the Chronicles of Narnia or Harry Potter films through the Robotech novels, one for every book. Sure, it would take decades to finish the entire story, either the TV series or novel series, but it would guarantee work and potential profits for years until people got sick of it dragging on. Too bad the books don't count with the current creative team though.

    Too bad he didn't have the chance to do a Alan Smithee, which, if I'm reading it right, required him to be a real director/industry man and member of the Guild. He should have known he couldn't do a cut and paste job forever.

    At this rate, they should suck in their pride and hire back Carl Macek or, if they're really desperate, Uwe Boll. At the very least he somehow has the assets to hire anyone and do all the effects they want. Btw, are they still paying people to get the film out the door while it's in development hell?

    On the English version of wiki, I expected longer entries for the Robotech comics and novels with info on the individual storylines and concepts for each. In fact, even some character bios lack info from what happened to them in these entries. I don't know if it was ever noted before most of it was retconned out. Either these fans didn't have the time to do it or are expecting other people to buy the stuff and find out for themselves.

    I thought the Robotech vs. everything else in existence fandom was an infamous example. It's too time consuming and exhausting to be anti-anything all the time.

    Can it even be called Southern Cross, or even the Master's Saga, if they're forced to make a lot of changes for legal and thematic reasons?

    Carl Macek's moved on from the epic he couldn't finish on screen and doing new, wonderful things. Let's see... um... Anyone here a fan of big birds? He writes books for reals. To be fair it's almost like a Veritech.

    So at this point which company involved in or having the rights to Southern Cross have the best chance of bringing it back in some form in the future?

    -Richard Bilrer didn't find Minmay but is happy enough with his train set and the massive amount of money he makes from his "businesses." Is probably funding the movie version of Frontier.

    I was thinking more of Hibiki Kanzaki and the Marduk. In a series with a lot of singing idols and wars, they've used a lot of restraint in involving space paparazzi in the drama. Then again, if a Hibiki character were to show up, I'd hope he's treated like crap for what he is. As for the Marduk, potential character development for the Zentradi.

    I'm surprised they haven't butchered Frontier yet. Don't really care much for a Macross II sequel, but I'd like some of the concepts and characters from the show used in the official universe or just as cameos. Is it possible to think of Mac II as another in-universe movie like DYRL?, maybe even its sequel, but not as successful?
