Science and Technology MEGA THREAD
Einherjar replied to Max Jenius's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Crap, it's on people: North Korea launches rocket over Japan! -
Gruesome way for the Macross crew to go, it probably should have happened to Minmay as well. I don't hate her, just that her treatment after Macross, from what I heard, is truly depressing and would have been more merciful.
-
I wasn't thinking about it money-wise, but that makes sense. Don't forget about Palladium Books too. I was thinking reputation-wise, mooching off Macross and the other series used? Like all the characters, mecha, etc. when they just paid for and changed info from the original material to fit their needs.
-
Is it fair to say that HG is still mooching off the Macross franchise and others without making their own stuff, more or less?

Dragon Ball movie rescued from dev hell?
Einherjar replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
They did the same thing for the Ben10 and Speed Racer live movies, I think. I thought CN lost their anime cred with Toonami gone and Adult Swim faltering a bit? EDIT: Ladies and gentlemen, stay indoors on April 10th and at least a week after. Dragonball Evolution Doesn’t Need Reviews Btw, has anyone seen/participated in a fan riot before? -
From personal experience online, thinking too much about a series can drive people literally insane, and this is from stuff seen in other fandoms besides Macross and Robotech. Not a position I want to be in or be remembered for in some situations. Anyway, I'm not raising my hand for this one. It's flawed, but represents the series well.
-
Um, maybe we're all over analyzing the series too much. I forgot a lot of the small details about the franchise before Frontier started, years since I saw a Macross title actually, but it was still okay.

It's gotta be a parody, it would suck it they took it seriously.
-
One of them is Protoculture Addicts, so that just leaves one.

Oh look, April Fools... Robotech Chihuaua They're still lazy bastards.
-
No April Fool's joke? They really must be dead then or don't want to work for a change. Lazy bastards.

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III
Einherjar replied to kaiotheforsaken's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
All this concept art reminds me of Gabriel Köerner from the Trekkies documentaries. I remember him doing some mock ups of the Vipers for this series and probably remained as part of the design crew until the end. -
Harmony Gold has gone bankrupt & is closing down!!

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III
Einherjar replied to kaiotheforsaken's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I thought Galactica sent out a Raptor that wasn't used in the battle to make contact with the fleet. -
Even if the treatment was never leaked how were they supposed to pull it off without people noticing the blatant similarities? If it's true that they have the rights to DYRL? but still pushing for this version, that's just messed up and counterproductive. Can't complain now though, with Frontier out they wouldn't dare release anything with those ideas without being called out for plagiarism or something.

I really hope this wasn't what people read in the script: http://robotechflash.blog.com/3175335/ About halfway down the page. It's like they rolled up the Robotech novels, Gundam, and Macross into a Sci-Fi channel original movie. And a character singing to end the war, riding on Macross's coattails yet again? If this is true, then they probably wanted to market this as DYRL II/III in Japan.

It was a project led by The Robotech Fan, the podcaster, to fit Orguss into the Robotech universe in somehow. He tried to get support for it, like VAs, video editors, etc. but it eventually turned to vaporware like his Xenoforce mod.
-
Of the 85 episodes, how many were just filler from the original series it came from and not important in the grand scheme of the Robotech universe? Oh, you heard about that crazy Robotech Orguss project also?
-
I thought the blogger was just ranting obsessively about stuff like that. He and a couple of fans online do that a lot nowadays sounding elitist or something. I arrived here too late to see the script, but I've been interested in the direction Robotech was going from here on. What was on it that caused an uproar?
-
I asked myself the same question the first time I came here. Maybe somewhere down the road they decided to sell out and try to make as much money with the franchise without doing much. There's already a fanbase that's been deprived of new material for years now, so just cater to them as cheaply as possible and they'll eat up whatever comes from them. But, remember to keep tossing up words like Protoculture, Robotechnology, and Rick Hunter to keep things from being too generic and to remind people that the new stuff is related to the old glory days. I don't know much about the current crew behind Robotech, but I mostly hear stories from people most affected by their work. http://robotechflash.blog.com/ http://robotechflash.blog.com/4766662/#cmts This might be the ramblings of a fan who got burned really bad by Robotech, so I wouldn't take anything in the blog too seriously. If anything, it lives up to the blog's slogan, "A Different Side to Robotech," and maybe explains where the madness began. It's a sad and disturbing story at the same time.

The fans still do most of the work for them, so yeah.

Great, someone hacked his account.

They're doing a fine job screwing themselves with their 80's business strategy. They don't need our help.
