  1. We might be seeing a lot more with other adaptations on the way. Hopefully, it might be a trendsetter and people will notice.
  2. A lot of apologists are adults too. Kids and teens I can understand, but THAT is scary. They got to realize they're being played after years of being treated like crap sooner or later.
  3. The people there gotta be tired with the PR guy feeding them lies all the time. Why not let some of the other crew take over PR since they can't be doing anything important now? Heck, the creative director himself should have more contact with these people. Convention panels can't be that hard to prepare year round.
  4. People are really not taking the film well. I feel for them, but this might be a stretch: French Stage Funeral Service For Dragonball's Goku
  5. For any future projects Robotech will get, would it be so hard for them to end on a good note? Honestly, cliffhangers suck! It's worse if it will take years to see what happens next or the crew has no idea where to go with the story. At least fans of the novels got some kind of ending, but this could go on forever.

  7. Cool, keep up the good work everyone.
  8. Could it be a failure of communication between Hollywood and the Internet? Fans are making this sound like the second coming for Robotech when at most it could turn into a blockbuster summer/winter movie. It would help if people like MacGuire didn't tease fans like that and just say they want to make a kick ass movie franchise out of it. But you're right Gubaba, people are expecting this to be an epic lasting at least 3-9 movies or something.
  9. Remember, he's an actor and a businessman for this project, and it would be bad PR if didn't say something positive about it. It would suck if he used the fan angle only to drive up the interest of the fandom as a lot of people seem to be doing now. But if it was for real, more pressure on him trying to make something the fans will like (you know, a work from a professional fan for the fans). It doesn't help that longtime fans seem to be running Robotech franchise now and their work really doesn't show it. Unfortunately, not all series get good, quality treatment like Lord of the Rings and Batman by going this route, they just want to make a buck from it.
  10. Whether it's true or not, I'd like to see if fans like that are still enthusiastic about these shows when there's no strings attached, like when they're not being paid to do it, have an interior motive, or have an newly acquired investment in said show. It's easy for people like Tobey to fake it since they're actors, but how about people who work behind the scenes like HG? Either they're authentic or
  11. I have to question whether or not Tobey Maguire was/is a fan of Robotech. It might have been a coincidence that he liked it and his company is interested in the movie, but it's kind of convenient that a lot of closeted big name anime and related hobby fans in Hollywood would reveal themselves near the same time as the announcements for these live adaptations. It would have helped if they mentioned this before, like it would be a big deal since they're already successful, but for all we know they're just following the money trend for the industry. Look at Vin Diesel (regardless of the quality of his work) for example, confirmed D&D player and proud of it.
  12. Btw, is Feddy coming back to the podcast for good now?
  13. Here's Justy Ueki's take on rebooting Robotech (the guy from the RDF Underground podcast): http://www.rdfug.com/blog/2009/4/17/does-i...d-a-reboot.html
  14. I forgot about that. Handouts are their strategy.
  15. Guess that leaves HG with nothing to do except releasing toys and RPG books until then. At this rate I'll be surprised if the company lasts long enough to see the LAM, since it sounds like it's the last chance for both the series and HG to go on.
  16. Worst case scenario - Air Force Amy
  17. Gosh, besides adding more violence I get the feeling Gough and Millar are going to sex up the whole thing.
  18. Someone posted the entire soundtrack for Macross VF-X 2 on youtube. Here's "Get Free" by Humming Bird: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQrg86PTG7s
  19. It would be strange if that was all they needed to get the movie close to Macross going. Imagine the credits for the thing: -Cast and crew for the movie* *Based on the work of Carl Macek** **Oh, but really based on the work of Shoji Kawamori, Studio Nue, etc.
  20. Zac Efron: Not 'Likely' to Be in Full Metal Panic! Project
  21. With the fan fiasco HG left in Shadow Chronicle's wake, I hope WB likes obnoxious Robotech fanboys and pie. At this point they really are an unpleasable fanbase with high expectations to cater to.
  22. So if work is being done on the LAM, what's HG going to do until then? If they wanted to go on with Shadow Rising, which companies in the animation and other industries are they still in good terms with to get that and any other future project done? Is there anything special about that guy (credentials, etc.) or is he just a fan with a big dirty mouth?
  23. Unfortunately, I came into anime a bit late, in the mid 90's with Gundam Wing, which sucked because I didn't have cable until I went to high school. For me it started back in high school when a friend of mine brought a VHS of the first Robotech episodes for a bunch of us to watch . I vaguely remember someone mentioning that it was 85 episodes and made from 3 separate series as if it was a positive thing. He let me borrow the video and after doing some research for it I wanted to watch the rest of it but he didn't have copies of the rest. Unfortunately, there was only one comic/anime store in my town at the time and it was hard to get anything there. Then I got side tracked with real life until a I saw Macross Plus on the Starz Action Channel that I really got interested. This was about the time the Macross Animeigo box sets were coming out and I jumped at the chance. Minmay's songs were catchy and the planes that turned into robots were cool (and they were actually vulnerable to crap too). From then on I tried to follow up with the other series and OVAs that came out until real life stuff sucked me back in. The truth is when I read the first announcement about MacF I just skimmed through it and really didn't give it any attention at all. Guess I have to admit, back then I really did forget about love. Thankfully, that show totally made 2008 awesome for me.
  24. I had mixed feelings about this movie, but I guess it makes sense now knowing that it was done by the guy who made Wicked City and stuff. He made it more complicated than it needed to be. It's better than the U.S. Highlander cartoon I guess.
  25. Just to clarify; WB was given the rights to make a Robotech movie only, not the rights over the entire franchise, correct? Something that Mr. March said made me wonder about HG's role in the franchise's future, that's all. And they can put as many famous names they can behind the LAM, it doesn't guarantee that it will succeed until they show something on the project and when it eventually comes out.
