Is there a running joke about Lynn Kaifun from the Macross TV series that I missed? Of course he's a jerk, but on the rt.com there's this small unusual following for his Robotech version, K.I.S.S. or something along the lines of Chuck Norris or whatever, that they joke on about all the time. Is it something that only exists there?

Robotech and HG License Debates
Einherjar replied to TheLoneWolf's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Animeigo is the only company I can think of, in the U.S. at least, that would seriously consider licensing shows that old. They would probably treat it well if the excess baggage didn't get in the way of it getting released. -

It must be part of that Running the Asylum wave that's happening to franchises, but they're behind the times and appear to have brought the series to a complete halt. However, they still think they have enough influence over other companies to have an advantage. -

Sigh, I kinda have regrets about watching this, but now I know Kevin has been in the industry for a while now. Everybody, the/a voice of Robotech: AOD 2009: Kevin McKeever Jackass Anecdote -

That gives a whole new meaning to that avatar he uses on rt.com. It always did look a little prickish. That would also make him a total sell out if he's cool with all the crap HG's been pulling. They must pay him enough to keep smiling about it. -

He had a filthy mouth before getting hired by HG? -

Gosh, this troll/fan has been around bothering a lot of people for a while now. I'm not complaining. It's just another guy embarrassing the fandom, nothing new from that. http://www.google.com/search?q=robotechfan...lient=firefox-a -

Well, compare his writing to the real class act. The only thing that's similar is probably the borderline prejudice this new guy shows. http://beta.robotech.com/community/forum/r...&forumid=12 http://www.robotech.com/community/forum/re...mp;pagenumber=2 http://www.robotech.com/community/forum/re...mp;pagenumber=1 (Yes, longbow385 is doug, notice the spelling and incoherent thoughts) -

I thought about that too, but I doubt. This guy can actually spell words correctly and his youtube account labels him coming from Turkey. Unless he's gotten smarter since his awol life it might not be him. Besides, he REALLY hates the current Robotech crew to ever troll them like that. EDIT: Actually, maybe it is a joke, but someone else. -

Robotech and HG License Debates

Now that I think about it, has HG ever mentioned or gave credit to Big West and others in any of their material before? From the old opening and ending credits for Robotech, they seem to have rounded up almost everyone who worked on the the original three series and collectively called them "Tatsunoko Production Co." I think they did that for The Sentinels credits also when regarding who worked on the animation (the company, not the individual people). -

That's some brilliant naming choice for a (franchise?) company and epic sci-fi show. Not generic at all. How about starting a new thread, posting all the accurate information we have, lock it, and leave it on the top of the Anime or Sci-Fi forum for people to see? -
After hearing what happened with Megazone 23 as the Robotech movie, I'm willing to believe that the HG crew were probably ready to shoehorn whatever 80's anime series they could get their hands on into Robotech if their independent projects didn't work out. The fans have apparently adapted this kind of thinking when talking about "what if" or the future of the series. Guess they lack the imagination the crew had in the animation department, and totally split about original material made in a different kind of media or with different people (can't blame them in some cases). BTW, do the die-hards read stuff on these forums and make similar criticisms about us?

I thought in all versions of the series COBRA had a corporate side funding and hiding the organization's activities.

Whoever drew the Gamma Fighter at least showed it mid transformation, but I'm curious how the front side of the battroid was supposed to look like.
-
Regarding at least the original Macross TV series, it isn't stopping a lot of unreasonable expectations from both sides of the franchise riding on the LAMR, Shadow Rising, and other products HG has up their sleeves.

I say let all those involved with Robotech, fans and creative crew, drive themselves insane with the attempts to go on with the show. For the most part now it really matters to a small group of dedicated people online and then a huge group that remembers it but not as fanatical about it. HG's track record speaks for itself and if fans can't see through that then it's their loss. Let them look like tools for years if they can't realize it despite all the info that's been building up and years of receiving very little or nothing at all (unless reissuing bad toys and convention panels are really enough for them). Let them be the ones praying or begging for scraps from the website, conventions, or even Hollywood. What we should be concerned about is how Macross is going to fit into their future plans. Clearly that franchise doesn't care what Robotech does and keeps going strong despite "legal issues." It's now more of a competition of which will outlast the other, money and popularity-wise in the animation world. Will they continue to pander to its style and following even further or try to prove Robotech is different?

Yay, exposure. Wait, did you give her the link to the forums or the main website? Could she be reading our posts right now?

From the ending, I'm expecting more Resolute on the way. There's still a lot of characters unused or still alive for a sequel.

He worked on a couple of comics, but was Tommy well known in general or in a particular fandom for Steve to make that suggestion at the time? What made him stand out compared to others with similar histories in the business? It sounds too convenient.
-
Compared to the Shadow Fighter, I assume the others probably had minor issues normal with Toynami (joints, paint, accuracy, etc.). Here's a review of the Shadow Fighter: http://anymoon.com/blog/2009/02/09/toynami...nicles-version/

But the Maia Shadow Fighter is from the Masterpiece Collection: http://www.amazon.com/Robotech-Masterpiece...X/dp/B001I7VHP6
-
Well, stupid me for not finding this thread sooner. One thing I wish Resolute had were the wonder twins Tomax and Xamot. They definitely deserve to fight and die in a modern interpretation.
-
I don't even remember the Maia Shadow Fighter being an import. It was made in Asia per Toynami's and HG's instructions for the international market and look what happened. The guy probably wants something American made from a series that technically isn't. Borderline prejudice anyone?
