Anyone need a refresher course on how to pilot a mech before number 5? Then look no further because Mechwarrior 4 is coming out again, FOR FREE! http://kotaku.com/5311399/pay-nothing-get-mechwarrior-4 http://battletech.catalystgamelabs.com/200...battletech-com/ I might as well try it out when it's ready.

Robotech and HG License Debates
Einherjar replied to TheLoneWolf's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It represents the entire legacy they're trying to justify. There are people who find something redeeming with The Untold Story even if is to spite DYRL. There's still a following to continue The Sentinels in animated form especially after what happened with the novels. They did combine the first three episodes into one feature, right? And if people want to believe Shadow Chronicles is a pilot for a new series, let it be the very long and very expensive latest episode for Robotech too. EDIT: If we're talking only original stuff, then it's just 4 episodes; the three Sentinels and Shadow Chronicles. -

It also works the other way around. Macross will never escape association to Robotech because of how HG was able to spread it out to various parts of the world before the original became available and because the target audience was impressionable kids at the time. They did their job well, and from the looks of it they still have the legal advantage of saturating every medium with their version repeatedly. EDIT: Sometimes it's also just an annoyance to everyone in general to see the same 90 episodes, yeah, you heard me right, available somewhere else. -

Ah, so it's a Doug Bendo 2.0, except very defensive about the franchise but with the same issues and rage. That is, if it isn't him just using another screen name and being a suck up for kicks. Robotech must have made a lot of them after all these years. -

Make up your mind HG, do you want me to buy an overpriced DVD or Blu Ray, a micro transaction for every episode at various venues, or watch it for free at your expense? You've over saturated the market already! -

Good enough for me. It wouldn't be a problem if Robotech started off as a comic book. -

Wait, did Kevin imply that if you had to pay to use rt.com the staff would actually put more care into updating the site? They're unwilling to give interested fans the chance to update the infopedia for free and for everyone's benefit, but may reconsider it if people started paying them on a regular basis to do it? This is supposed to be "The Official Headquarters of the Robotech Universe." What's his position again? -

I also read that and wrote about my thoughts on it on the previous page. -

Sorry for doing this, but this kind of interests me. According to HG, we, the disgruntled Robotech and Macross fans, but mostly Robotech fans, have a hard time getting over things that happened 23 years ago regarding their unique situation and are always ignoring the progress that's been happening over the last three years. AKA, it's not our fault Robotech appears to not be going anywhere, it's you who can't see the positive things that are already here and on the horizon. It goes on for a couple of paragraphs, but maybe that's their reasoning why people like Captain JLS, Justy Ueki, and Robotech Master eventually left the fandom. However, you can also contribute that to why, probably, a lot of fans are still enthusiastic about what's in store for Robotech. Response # 29 As someone who got into the debate relatively late, my question is what really has happened over the last three years with Robotech? I only know about the secondary merchandise they've released, Shadow Chronicles, and lots of plans brought forth that have not come to fruition yet, but did I miss anything else? If I was a fan, it sounds like they're asking me to wait an indefinite period of time for the smoking gun of Robotech. But to tide me over until that eventually comes, oh it will come, they just don't know when , they have all these toys and stuff in the works for me to buy, if I'm interested. Here's a scenario; as a fan not feeling satisfied with the direction of Robotech at the moment, I have the choice of either washing my hands of it, completely or partially, or stick it out until something happens. If I quit there is the possibility that I was right all along and the Robotech ship eventually sank from bad decisions. But there's also the possibility that somewhere down the road the smoking gun will come and HG would have been right about me from the beginning. Shame on you doubtful fan. If I stay, there's the possibility that the smoking gun will come and I would have been vindicated of all the doubts I had. The trade off is that, with a firm timetable not established, I may have to rely on patience and luck/faith that it will happen. It would be my reward for staying with them through the thick and thin if they were right. Unfortunately, there is the possibility that you're going to have to wait a long time and possibly hear all of a sudden that the Robotech ship has sank. At least they had my support until the bitter end. Now imagine having to make that decision every time you hear that a there is very little update on a Robotech production or it's stalled again from a convention, a negative story that fits their MO, or hearing nothing unless you frequent exclusive sites posting news on it while the rest of the world wouldn't bother. How strong would your resolve be every time? Guilt trips are cruel, aren't they? -

I wonder how long it took before they stopped caring and just focused on making money. I remember them re releasing a lot of VHS and DVDs in the years prior that got picked up every single time. -

So does the comics from Academy, Antarctic Press, and Wildstorm also count since they too were licensed by HG at one time? -

Regardless of quality, it's still milking Mospeada for all it's worth for the sake of one or more characters mentioned once on a show. -

Crap, does this mean he's going to show more skin for the ladies?

In a way the characters won in the 90's and beyond, leaving Robotech with complete doppelgangers ever since, from similar looking characters with different names to just odd looking/acting characters given the same names by default. Or worse, no longer appearing on screen or dead. He's an employee and president of Palladium Books, which is entirely separate from HG despite the RPG books. -

Why bother? He'll always be a broken record about it. One thing I can say is that it must take a lot of effort for one person to be frowned upon by BOTH Macross and Robotech fans, even if a part of the Robotech fandom, I don't know the numbers, actually like him for a long period of time. If he was more "approachable" HG would probably use his show as a replacement for Space Station Liberty, being the last podcast out there focusing on Robotech. Oh well, they both lose an opportunity. -

Since the franchise has switched hands between the TV series, comic books, and novels, character derailment was bound to happen to keep things interesting. For crying out loud, they used the same characters over and over after all. Maybe Johnathan Wolff got off easy compared to others. It would be kind of said if that picture of Yune did not come from the HG office. You're spelling it wrong. It's "Why macross fans are bitchs!!!" -

Still, as the only people at the time doing something dedicated to Robotech, one or both of them were used by HG and co. as mouthpieces for what they were doing or wanted to do with the franchise. They probably won't be coming back to it anytime soon, but their sudden departure must have made an impact. Guess it's up to The New Generation to take their place. -

RDF Underground, Space Station Liberty, Captain JLS, they've completely disappeared from the fandom. I assume they helped the fandom stay excited for Robotech, even getting a chance to interview the crew sometimes to invigorate everyone. With this being the 25th anniversary, you'd think their presence online would be extremely important for the online scene in addition to all the plans HG supposedly has since they've been enthusiastic supporters for the franchise. Also, because including them would cost nothing. The most you get these days is reports on anime sites and what's posted at rt.com or rtx.com. -

Don't forget the 25th anniversary celebrations planned sporadically throughout the country up to next year. This might be the busiest and most costly year to come around since Shadow Chronicles came out. By busy, I mean more PowerPoint Presentations, same as usual rhetoric, and accommodating special guests at planned events. By costly, I mean more freebies to give away, really over priced stuff to sell, and other expenses that would probably be better spent on actually making something new to show. Too bad the podcasters are no longer here to help them out. -

Funny you say that, because as of this posting it hasn't become a big deal with the fandom. People probably don't know about it yet, but knowing them it could become something, though morbid, in the next few hours/days. Maybe make a connection between Robotech, Tommy Yune, and Michael Jackson to make it relevant. But come on, it's an iReport, anyone can post there. To everyone else, he sounds like any other tech savvy nerd out there, and the flair in his work space helps the image. Too bad it's questionable whether or not he's actually doing work there anymore. At least he knows when not to be a self promoter like Joseph Jackson. -

I would've had a problem with it if he used the segment to promote Robotech or HG. Good for him for showing restraint, well, maybe except for the stuff in his cubicle. EDIT: It's not really related to Robotech or HG anyway.
