Mechwarrior 5 Runs Into Legal Trouble My question is what plans does HG have with those trademarks? Toys? They're not doing anything with them, unless this is all for money.
-
Great, it's on now. Mechwarrior 5 Runs Into Legal Trouble It's funny to see a recent, non-anime website talk about HG. Not funny that HG is threatening these people for a trailer.

Joseph McCarthy would be proud of that.

I agree, as a corporate site people should know better how they're going to be treated in one. You're not going to find that fair and balance atmosphere that should be there as the headquarters of the Robotech universe. That welcoming, community feel fans think exists there? As a corporate site, it's really an illusion created by HG to get your attention and, eventually, your money. So you get censored, scolded or even banned from their site for whatever you do there; you play by their rules every time you log in, as well as some unspecified rules they never tell you.

It's been called a "pilot." Did it hook you into a sequel that hasn't been made yet?
-
It sounds like another advertising expense, fans hard spent money at work there. Edit - Yeah, I broke my promise about the thread.

This version is looks pretty good.

HG and others have saturated the Internet with it more than it deserves. It makes actually owning a copy you have to pay for really useless these days. Speaking of TSC, on Hulu when a movie is repeatedly noted as the number 1 featured download for a time, isn't it Hulu and the powers that be trying to promote it without it actually achieving a milestone yet? I thought someone just paid them money to give it a lot of attention, and that moniker, on their site.

The Death of ADV Films (1992-2009)
Einherjar replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I don't really know if this really affects me that much. With what I learned about Carl Macek and others, the same people and resources who have been working in the industry for a very long time are bound to pop up again somewhere, sometimes under different banners. Anime shows are traded around between companies when the current legalities end, or when a ship sinks like ADV here, and depending on the popularity of the show get re-released eventually. So all the anime community is grieving over the end of a company brand/name, but it's still significant. I'll miss the moniker too, but hopefully the industry just goes on with everything associated with ADV in, or will be in, other people's hands. -
The Death of ADV Films (1992-2009)
Einherjar replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Wait, from the articles it sounds like only ADV Films is gone, but all their assets and stuff associated with them were given to other companies or are still moving along independently. There's the possibility that these other guys can continue their work, right? -
As said by the man who would be forever remembered for pies. http://www.geocities.com/robotechthreethou...revolution.html

The Comic Book thread

I heard the license to the Gargoyles comic book series was not renewed last year by the most recent holders because it was getting too expensive.- 556 replies

But isn't that opportunism? Robotech was trying to be revived in the 2000's by a bunch of new people who accomplished very little beforehand. It helped further their careers focusing on nostalgia up until Shadow Chronicles, but they are still making money out of it. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/opportunism All their attempts didn't necessarily need to be successes, they just needed to make them some money.
-
I thought across the board these days HG and "friends" are filled with opportunists and sell outs to their own fandom.

Who would you rather have as a passenger?
Einherjar replied to Ghost Train's topic in Movies and TV Series
Edgar, I'd want to have someone who can watch my back in a dogfight to improve my chances of getting back to the hot girls back home. -
Technology that you have bought that went nowhere...
Einherjar replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I got a bunch of free rotating fans from The Sharper Image before they went under. None of them are Ionic Breezes. Some of them have a wireless remote control to operate it from a distance. Sounds like a convenience, but I had a hard time trying to program them, they have to be turned on with the fan or something, and the ones that worked fizzled out for no reason. They weren't having battery problems, but I'm suspicious about the magnetized placeholders they have on the fan. Most of them were new, but now there's little to no chance of getting them serviced. -
As a ranking sheriff in that area, but also an aging celebrity, what do you think he will be able to do on camera?

It better not be just a ride along with Steven Seagal.
