  1. Screw it, nuke 'em all! http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2...hie-600-review/ They better "imagine" the bad end routes too for good measure.
  2. No wonder this has been described as a unique, complicated legal situation that would take a lot of time to explain, if the person explaining even knew what they were talking about. Then surely this reviewer got fired soon after posting this gem. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/rob...-chronicles/dvd
  3. We're talking about his article, right? http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2004-...macross-lawsuit I was talking about this one. It was the last one they ever made and fans and the public made it the official result.
  4. They mention two court cases in the article. The one with Tatsunoko winning was the attention grabber. Whoever wrote the article didn't really get into the details to what the results actually mean, even though the point of the article was a failed appeal. For instance, it talks only about the Macross TV series, but doesn't elaborate what all of this really means for the entire franchise. They also noted the one with Studio Nue winning, but no further elaboration other than character copyright. Author's right and other complex legal terms were also not used, probably confusing what all of this really means. Also, they never followed up with the rest of the cases/proceedings that were happening at the time. In fact, this was the last article regarding the Robotech/Macross legalities ANN ever posted. They never bothered to go over the information TakNSDAP found years later, adding more to the confusion these days. It makes me think this was supposed to be ANN's smoking gun to finally clear the issue and move on to other things. Everything that comes up regarding the Robotech/Macross legalities these days are mostly addressed in the Hey Answerman section from time to time. A writer for that section even admitted it once. EDIT - Double checking, I couldn't find an article where they mentioned the case where Studio Nue won previously. They just rolled up everything into one abrupt article and never looked back. EDIT 2- I'm probably talking about something else from everyone else here.
  5. Sensationalism.
  6. Any tax software. They become obsolete by the next year, so you're forced to buy the new version if you do your tax work by yourself.
  7. Rambo and Les Enfants Terribles?
  8. But he isn't just a regular someone. He has a huge reputation on other sites coming here acting very authoritative, and then disappearing like he doesn't give a crap for us or what he just said. Serious debater indeed. He'll come back in a couple of weeks/months doing the same thing, speaking as if looking down at us. Good that we only have one thread dedicated to this. Sorry VFTF1, I think he's a troll.
  9. I don't think MEMO's coming back to respond to any of this, like usual. Whether it was because of how we responded or because that's all he wanted to "contribute" to the discussion, he never stays long enough to satisfy anyone (or let people understand what he just said). The damage has been done once again on this thread. We're setting ourselves up to do it every time he pops in.
  10. Speaking of Tatsunoko, where are they when it comes to Robotech these days? It's mostly Harmony Gold doing things like promoting Shadow Rising and the LAM a little too much, especially when they won't be doing much for the LAM anyway, to starting litigation against other companies for vaguely similar looking material. Unless everything up till now has been happening on Tatsunoko's behalf, where is the presence of the company that really has "author's rights" to what was turned into Robotech in any of this? I ask because as the people with the real power in the business relationship, why are we hearing from only the middlemen all the time, HG? Is it because all of this only involves the U.S., which is HG's territory?
  11. For what exactly? What are you planning to do if you had it? Fandom politics?
  12. Adding more to a debate? I don't know, it sounds more like trolling.
  13. Isn't it obvious? He's a sell out.
  14. One company bought out the other, but each one exists in a 50/50 partnership, maybe. Sounds like a decentralized operation; each division does what it can to make money for the entire company without interference with each other. At least both still exist in some form, CPM is just gone. I'm going to miss them. If I knew sooner that this was going to happen, I would have bought a copy of the Votoms series. It was probably the only show I watched from them recently while it was On Demand. Anyone know who owns the right to that series? EDIT - It's dirt cheap on Amazon.
  15. The franchise is still doing good even with this setback, right? The new RPG books (and other products?) are still selling.
  16. I saw people responding to the IGN and Kotaku news articles quoting/referring to this analysis. He himself posted about it too. It's Chris Meadows, so I don't know how accurate his information can be at times, but he spread it around pretty quickly. On the plus side, it's good to hear people not as into Macross and the like already know HG's reputation and share our sentiments from their posts. His analysis may not change the general opinion about the company anyway. In fact, it might get worse if this causes more people to look into the situation a little more closely.
  17. Chris Meadow's analysis of the Robotech/Mechwarrior situation. http://www.terrania.us/journal/2009/09/har...ech-second.html
  18. For now it looks like it's working. It was odd at first to see sites like G4 and Gamespot not reporting about something this big (is it big? I'm not sure). Of course, it's Labor Day weekend, so the parties have time before everyone knows (unless someone tries to stir things up a bit).
  19. If not for copyright infringement reasons, maybe for greed or opportunism. Take your pick. Despite not looking identical, the similarities gives them an opening to act. It's almost like those video game industry news stories about all those independent and small technology companies going into legal battles with the big three (Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony) for technologies their consoles use that these little guys supposedly invented first and got no credit ($) for it.
  20. Could this be an example of what HG just sent out to IGN Entertainment, Catalyst Game Labs, Piranha Games and Smith & Tinker? http://www.utsystem.edu/OGC/INTELLECTUALPR...tract/cease.htm From a lawyer's/strategist's standpoint, why choose to send it IGN Entertainment first and not others like CBS Interactive (Gamespot), IDG Entertainment (Gamepro), or G4 Media/Comcast (G4TV)? Then again, they're probably going to get them too eventually, every single video game site with the trailer. EDIT - I figured it out, the trailer was revealed exclusively by IGN, that's why they've been drawn into this mess. It was a good strategy by HG to get this started during the Labor Day weekend to soften the impact until Tuesday.

    SCOOP thread!

MACROSS 1/100 scale Transformable Action Figures Series 4 by Toynami released. Roy, Hikaru, and Standard VF-1's with super/strike parts together for $74.99.
  22. The winner was Veronica. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30983247/ns/today-today_books/
  23. I don't really think HG cares about those specifics.
  24. Actually, it's still there in a couple of places. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW2kulLraaY In fact, it's still posted in other sites like Gamespot, and not all gaming sites have reported about it yet. HG will need to send more C&Ds. This might give people the wrong impression that HG is doing this because there's secretly a Robotech video game coming out soon using the Tomahawk and other mechs. Screw it, I'll start it. "OMG guyz! You know why they want to sue mechawarrior? Theres a ROBOT-TECH game coming out."
  25. Classy move, HG. Well, I told you guys a lot of it is an illusion to get people's money. That's a really crappy way to reintroduce your company, and probably Robotech, back into the mainstream; with litigation. At least people are making sure Harmony Gold gets people's attention for this mess. They've pissed off Macross and anime fans for years, now they want to piss off the modern gaming community (and Microsoft)? Whatever keeps them relevant these days. I can see them losing a lot of opportunities just for that Tomahawk.
