  1. The last three threads will probably be closed down after a while. Even with Seto and jenius kicked out, no one can really have a serious discussion about legalities there. The more they press it, Rapier, BlaqChaos, relak, Ozma Lee, and yoshiii's days are probably numbered. (To Rapier, BlaqChaos, relak, Ozma Lee, and yoshiii if you're reading this... stop it. They don't want you to think that way.)
  2. I TALK WITH LAWYERS AND THEY SAY I'M RIGHT. YOU PERVY? HEHEHE
  3. Does anyone here own a Zeebo? Any thoughts on it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeebo
  4. Costa Rica is an independent country. Sometimes he makes it too obvious for the sake of Robotech. I've seen the rules for his forum/site change from: to: He apparently runs rtx.com like Animal Farm now.
  5. It's used to achieve advantages in global business among other things.
  6. What's up with that anyway, does it really cost a lot just to put subs? I'd expect that at least that if it's a cost problem. It's not like it's totally useless for them either. English is mostly a required language course in Japan. People would probably understand it.
  7. If someone was willing to buy all the rights from HG, they probably wouldn't do it. Like you said, all HG has is Robotech. Losing all of that for even a huge amount of money could ruin the company since they appear to be focused exclusively on it. What could they do in a post-HG Robotech controlled world? With their kind of reputation they'd be lucky if people are still interested in working with them to distribute anime, if the industry still exists by then. There's also the no in house resources to do anything problem; things have definitely changed since the 80s, and it won't be as easy for them if they decide to start business all over again.
  8. I tried bootlegs years ago, but it was kind of a mixed bag for me. They were comparatively cheaper but with questionable video quality, and bad translations. Don't know of things have improved since then, so far some U.S. TV show bootlegs I have turned out okay. Anime might be more complicated. Also, I'm leaning towards a PS3 these days.
  9. I'd buy a Blu-Ray player, or a PS3, and import each series. Screw the middlemen, by now I know what they're supposed to be saying.
  10. It's probably justified in our case, because there's definitely no chance Macross is coming back outside Japan with HG still striving. If you want to support something, you might as well send your money directly to those responsible for it.
  11. I heard a lot about fans' aspirations for Robotech for a while now online, and I can understand their desire to see this thing go places. But when looking real hard at Harmony Gold, what they are, what they can do, etc., it makes what the fans want sound pretty much unrealistic. If the company was actually involved in the animation industry, then yes, I could see them come out with a 13-26 TV series. In reality though, they started out as a compromised distribution and investment company and it really hasn't gone anywhere else. That is totally different from making the anime. In fact, publicly at least, they seem to have dropped those aspects and focused entirely on Robotech. Really, that's all they're known for these days. However, to this day they don't have anything in house to really do anything with it; no facilities for animation, no animators, artists, etc. So far from what we know, all they are relying on is legal jargon, Tommy Yune, lawyers, and money (but possibly not enough to make much of what you talked about in your post) to get as much and do as much as they can with those resources. But how are you supposed to run a successful animation-focused franchise with just that?
  12. Maybe that's why the Macross Quarter was made. All Macross class ships after the original got bigger.
  13. Do all of the Enforcers on that page have breasts/nipples, maybe side boobs? And an Invid Beta? Bet someone wanted that when the new New Generation toys were announced.
  14. Yeah, I was expecting mechs like the Mad Cat to be in the pdf. Even though I didn't get way into it, I assumed that was the standard all mechs went for in the series. They used it a lot in most of their products, I think. In fact, I'm surprised that mech wasn't in this intro book, unless the pdf was an excerpt from the original book from the 80s. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Timber_Wolf
  15. I also didn't expect the cockpits to actually be inside the head in some of the humanoid mechs (page 36). I always thought they were in the chest area.
  16. Maybe they bought some copies to sell for their store because it's Macross related. It's the store portion of the site, maybe they sell stuff they don't have exclusive rights to. Their inventory has been cut down over the years, but for instance, were they involved in releasing Mari Iijima's "Right Now" Album they're selling there?
  17. I guess so, at least they're the ones not wasting money on lawyers and legal crap they can't even use. They work for a living.
  18. So it's something they invented for all the Mechwarrior games. Thanks to that I always wondered if I'd really want to ride in one if I'm going to be boned like that. I downloaded the free intro book and was caught off guard for some of the mech designs in them. They're on the last few pages. I didn't expect most of them to look humanoid. http://www.classicbattletech.com/index.php...full&id=210
  19. Linda McMahon Throws Her Hat in the Ring for U.S. Senator Would you vote for her?
  20. Gubaba makes a good point. In your opinion, what makes Robotech worth continuing with so many restrictions put on it? This isn't rhetorical either.
  21. What Kevin McKeever says is mostly part of Public Relations. It's hard to know if he's even telling the truth most of the time or bending it to make things sound good for the company. You shouldn't take a lot of what he says at face value like what MEMO has been doing. In fact, robotech.com is mostly Public Relations. When it was created, it probably had its advantages for the franchise, but it's more of a liability now because of the elevated expectations it has created with the fandom. It's the equivalent of the fictional version of Dunder Mifflin Infinity.
  22. I have to disagree, peppered into a lot of the stinging remarks a lot of us here have been posting are some real constructive criticisms about how HG has acted as a company as well as it's direction for Robotech. Trust me, it's been well documented by people here over the years. In fact, I'll say that it's been well documented everywhere except rt.com and fandom related sites. While a lot of it is negative, it really reflects some of what they've really been doing over the years, without the facade the company tends to bring about on their site, convention tours, and podcasts. All of that is Public Relations for the fans, and it doesn't always reflect what the company actually does. You say HG should have worked harder to turn Robotech into whatever and the like, but if they really could do anything they wouldn't be in this mess 25 years after their only success.
  23. I'm a newbie to Battletech, and something crossed by mind watching the Mechwarrior reboot trailer. Pilots have a way of ejecting from their mech when it has a core breach, but when they bail does it propel them far enough to survive the explosion? They've all looked pretty big throughout the series.
  24. But those shows didn't literally cut and paste other shows together to make theirs. Robotech has been dead for a long time now, HG and WB are just wasting money trying to bring new life into it. And the results have been embarrassing.
