They managed to BS the humans into working with them and use their defective stuff. Maybe their MO is to BS everyone, even the audience in a thin parody of someone else... They're habitual liars is what I'm trying to say.

He also can't repel the forces of the most power entities of the universe; copyright infringement and Chapter 11 bankruptcy (it will happen).

So we're the monsters that started this whole mess. Great ending. By the time the novels were finished, how long had the writers and Carl Macek been working on it? Maybe they should have avoided the grand epic feel and twists and ended it sooner.

I think I have a very bad quality Matchbox figure of Max somewhere in my closet. Does that mean someone will pay handsomely for it?

What's there to buy besides revised expensive toys, hard fought over logo merchandise (what their ownership of so many trademarks really go towards these days), and a Sci-Fi Original quality direct to video movie sequel?

I've been seeing that a lot with the Mechwarrior reboot legal situation. The response has been venomous for either HG, Robotech and/or Macross even though it's really HG doing all of this. At least it's good most people know the difference now. As for the ebay thing, don't know if that's really the case or more so an effort by the sellers to attract more people. Name recognition or something like that. Maybe I should have done that in an auction I recently sold.

What's even sadder is that Robotech fans are willing to accept this situation for the long term. They're clinging to the hope that for all the BS drama that goes around, something good is coming to them eventually. And they''ve shown they'll wait for just about anything. After raising people's expectations for years now I think fans deserve something. They started it. Besides us, HG owes them so much for what goes around these days while they plan for some revival. They promote this second coming with gangbusters and crap and all you get is a direct to video movie. Oh, they also have a Hollywood movie in progress, but look how long they've been waiting to get just a script done.

"Jaded" by Aerosmith fits too.

There's still that Maia Alpha revision and another Palladium book people are looking for. From experience, stuff like that actually counts as HUGE news there.

Heavy Gear, Starsiege, etc. mecha tread

My mistake. -
But this stuff from the comic books did represent Robotech for a time. It was official material for a while. It's a stretch, but I think it helps explain a lot about one particular aspect of character designs for Shadow Chronicles. Perhaps the franchise had that problem longer than fans think.

All this talk about Mechwarrior made me remember some other mecha franchises I haven't heard much from for years. Anyone know what's been happening with series like Heavy Gear and Starsiege? All I know for both of them is the CGI TV show and the Votoms-like skates in one and that one of the companies responsible for the other one went out of business and it shifted away from mecha with Tribes.

I miss the saved game bonuses they had for II, III, and Tactics. I thought that was going to be a staple of the series.

Sorry for editing my post a couple of times. I really wasn't sure. It kind of reminds me of a Robotech fan art I saw a long time ago being sold on ebay. I'll just say it was rated T for teen, showing Rick and Lisa's honeymoon, titled "Mrs. Macross."
-
Are you being sarcastic? Just making sure. I've heard people drone on about how serious and pure Robotech was compared to the three shows that it was made from. But then official stuff like this comes up. What's up with that?
-
And people criticize the stuff we like for the over sexualization?

Sequels that we DON'T want to see!!

How about Saw VI? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK8eFme6qzY...feature=related In a related note, prior to making Saw VI there was this reality show called Scream Queens where the winner would have a part in the movie. This was the runner-up. NSFW -
For anyone not in the know, Robotech is being offered free on youtube by Manga Entertainment. Before someone blows it out of proportion, know that before Manga sub-licensed the series from ADV Films or whoever for distribution in the UK. That's probably how they got it online.

A recent estimate on the cost to make a Cowboy Bebop LAM, half a billion dollars. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-...is-in-rewriting

AKA, none of these people up to now are Haruhiko Mikimoto and will never be like him. And that's just for character designs.

To drive the point home, take for example the Harmony Gold website. Notice the link on the top right corner of the website. Also, feel free to google the films featured on the top page to get an understanding of what the company has put their name and money on besides Robotech recently. http://www.harmonygold.com/index.php

It is a corporate site owned by HG, promoted by them, the "owners" of Robotech, to be the official center of the franchise, and requires all users to follow all the rules said and unsaid in the TOU. It's been self-serving from the beginning, the problem is fans haven't realize it. It's not a place where fans can really express themselves without HG's, and now the fan mods', consent.
-
I guess their ignorance of how anime is really made saved them from that mess. They've only been able to make 2 cheapo quality direct-to-video movies ever since the original. I would have sympathy for him if he and the HG crew didn't put themselves in that situation by operating a site like theirs. The fake empathy from them also doesn't help either. They sound like they're talking mostly to children, selling toys and etc. when in fact most of their dedicated fans are adults.
-
These days it's just easier to think Robotech=Harmony Gold. Whether you like them or not, every dollar you spend on DVDs, comic books, novels, merchandise, etc. with either name on the packaging eventually helps them do things like order C&Ds to Smith & Tinker and ign as well as other stuff that only die hard Robotech fans could find something positive about. I like to think somewhere down the line that's hard spent money by the fans put to work. In other words, people's obsession over nostalgia is probably part of the problem. But sure, you get toys sometimes from the process. Hopefully, paying for the AnimEigo will be the only product that I buy that has the slightest chance of giving money to HG. Recently it's like individuals in the online fandom are pretty much expendable to them. There's always going to be someone else taking their (in this case your) place who is hopefully unusually positive (conditioned) about the situation. Eventually, they'll probably go through the same cycle the longer HG does nothing for the franchise. I have to admit though, it does not represent the general fandom that could be out there, and their priority is probably to always satisfy them in the long run.

Who really takes the Internet seriously beyond self promotional activities by a company? He can always join a certain podcast as fanatical as he is about Robotech.
