In turn, there are a lot of fans who want to forget a lot of things that happened in Robotech as well; The Master's Saga, Sentinels, Untold Story, novels, comics, Shadow Chronicles. If fans were that selective about the whole thing, compared to us, at most they like only one additional thing about it, The New Generation/Mospeada. But from a nostalgic/long term point of view, fans always remember The Macross Saga anyway, so whatever intent the label was supposed to do is really hypocritical. Macross Saga is the ideal image of the entire franchise. We just like the original Japanese flavor of the main thing they remember fondly, as well as a lot of the additional, really connected material that came out as a result of it. I don't know, but it's in the general vicinity of where I live. I also don't know what the Global Doctrine is all about.

Honestly, some of the names they given themselves by comparison are various and a bit obscure because of the divisions. And I can see the SDF-2 from my house!
-
Exactly, I would have some reservations about potentially having my image and anything I bought/made/showcased at the event being used as promotional material for something I don't believe in... wait...
-
HG could milk it for publicity on their site if they were invited, because it has the potential to increase attendance to the event, interest in their show, and relevance in the industry(s) thanks to the timing of the 25th anniversary.

Friendship, eh? There are various sides to every action.

Official MacrossWorld Con 2009 Information Thread
Einherjar replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
So it's really going to be for the benefit of the Robotech 25th Anniversary, isn't it? -
All I know is that as of 2007 or 2008, there is at least one copy of the Robotech Anthology out there produced and paid out of pocket by the creator(s). MedMapGuy had a picture of his copy on his blog before he decided to take it down. It was a very screwed up thing for HG to do.

I hope you weren't banned for the incident. RTX just went through a purging of most frequent members and repopulating it with more agreeable fans for the mods. Seto, permanently out. doug, out. MaverickLSC, in, and as a mod. EDIT: My mistake, just Seto and doug are out. HappyPenguins is suspended, but she's probably out anyway because of personal issues.

Yeah, I'm really sorry about what happened to the Robotech Anthology project he participated in.

Battlestar Galactica Discussion III
Einherjar replied to kaiotheforsaken's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It's a better than becoming a lead in Galactica 1980. I hope at least RDM implied his character made it to the end of the show. -
Battlestar Galactica Discussion III

After all these years since the beginning of the show, I still feel sorry for Boxey in both versions. -
Still, for someone in, generally, a official trusted site on the Internet regarding anime to be very blunt about the situation can have an impact. If it is a segment read by a lot of people, it can continue to give a negative perception on HG and whatever they intend to do with the rights they say they have. While I'm at it, since this is the kind of obscure news articles Memo relies on to drum up attention for Robotech, maybe he should post this on his sites. Remember the very potent wording at the end he can potentially use to bring his point across.

Sorry to tell you this, but they already had to deal with doug before, and the response was mostly the same. http://beta.robotech.com/community/forum/r...&forumid=12 The fallout is on the last page of that thread.

But at this point I thought Harmony Gold is a major contributing factor why it would be expensive to bring out of Japan. Anyone thinking about it would have to satisfy them first in various ways ($$$), then work out the other difficulties. And with the permission of the mods, I would like to start an Internet Meme with the quote in bold.

Oh well, back to other more important stuff. Before this potentially gets retracted by a certain Big Brother: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/answerman/2009-12-04 I like how the Answerman brought up the ADV production and ignored the Animego release .

Well, anyway, I think it's safe to say that Robotechx is now no better than Robotech.com for anyone realistic about the situation of an 80's cartoon. It's painfully clear that they're both run by the same individual(s), and those various slogans they use are meaningless.

I know Seto, just trivializing why the heck all this drama came around. I'm surprised he didn't mention Khyron Prime while he was at it. Also MedMapGuy, but I'm cool with him.

doug in the long rant to J T I posted.
-
Who are a couple of people he mentioned, Brooklen red leg and protoculture, are they really important?

So I guess both Memo and doug lost credibility from the partnership and paving the way for more followers of his gospel for Robotechx. Because those people are the only ones who are going to see value in the site pretty soon. What was all of this for again, pedo bears and three bald guys? I'll wish them a wonderful YEAR FOUR of waiting for anything new Robotech in advance, that at least one of them is going to whine about anyway. Love the Animal House theme you're relying on there. And on that note: dougbendo: "Yo, J T, I'm really happy for your tenth show and all, I'ma let you finish, but the Robotech Fan is the best podcast of all time! One of the best podcast of all time!!!" It's not character assassination if it's true. http://www.robotechx.com/forums/25-robotec...p;start=40#8429 Like I said, not worth it.

That's probably the same logic they followed when making original protagonists like Jack Archer (Battlecry) and Jack Baker (Sentinels and maybe rescued from Untold Story). Funny, all three of them are orphans, have generic sounding names, and have a tough sounding profession as a last name. What? Bakers are tough, they're good with their hands.
-
They were really just re-editing a show they have very little personal investment in, maybe they were lazy since they didn't have to do much work for the original series. Plus, you gotta have some stand out or quirky names so that the audience will remember them. It is a show with probably too many characters for children at the time to keep track of. Oh, and doug bendo has been banned, and life just goes on.
-
Maybe they were following the naming pattern Macross established for once with the Max and Milia children. Maia could have been a good name for Dana, which could follow up some of the animosity between the two some people have concluded from her cameo in Prelude. And why choose Dana as a name? That's way out there from the originals Komilia and Jeanne. At least most of the other characters they named had some semblance to their original names. Then again, she is an oddity created as a result of the show.

Umm, fabulous???

Her character was retconed in her brief appearance in the Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles comic, which the current creative team has made, in addition to Shadow Chronicles, official over the novels and comic books. She's now shell shocked or something because of Zor Prime's death and the chaos from the Master's Saga. There might be some bitterness with Maia too, but it's hard to make any real conclusions because it was really just a cameo for Southern Cross fans.
