  1. What happened in 1997 for Robotech?
  2. http://kotaku.com/5424759/report-sony-stil...-every-ps3-sold I totally get this now for some reason. The PS3 is a long term investment for Sony.
  3. Really? He costs that much to work with?
  4. Hmm, maybe something arranged by Michael Bradley.
  5. Because in all honesty, he's a nobody and this is the Internet. It's still a crazy place years after it came to be. And as a lot of people have seen here, his actions recently have really damaged his and others' credibility. I realize that he can do whatever the heck he pleases, but for the things he says and does to really matter, it totally relies on HG to take real action for Robotech. It's also up to the people really listening to this stuff to make their own conclusions about the situation eventually in the long run. After all, they are all still at the same position they were a year from now, if not worse. Wow, I've been here long enough to actually say that. And who cares about that podcast? He's eventually going to record a show that very few people are going to be able to participate in or actually download and listen anyway.
  6. Pete has nothing to be embarrassed about. He acted diplomatically to the situation compared to some of us. It's all on Memo for deciding to take that route with what he know from these discussions. And he really does have the right to do that on a site he has influence in.
  7. My gosh, this is why Memo took the time to discuss anything here; digging for information. He's using what people just told him here to promote his own message. We just helped him. http://www.robotechx.com/forums/3-robotech...p;start=10#8521 I can see your soapbox. And there's no way to respond to it there because he's locked anyone out from posting on it. I imagine this will go to rt.com eventually as well for all the newbies too.
  8. This is his legacy, with a hated for a lot of people and lashing out at specific people; Macross, Macross Purists, HG, Shadow Chronicles, Memo at one time and probably still, it's been a lot of people over the years.
  9. Of course Pete, I understand. But knowing doug, his responses to these posts, if he ever comes back, are going to get ugly. It's who he is.
  10. I think you're confusing this for an actual debate. He started this and other discussions a very long time ago in other places where there actually wasn't going to be a discussion at all. He had an answer already and anyone who posted to the initial question lose by default, regardless of real evidence or facts used. You lost by just responding, Pete. In fact, we've all lost.
  11. There was still the stuff he did while Adama was injured and handing the fire, but yeah, that's all I can say to defend the guy. What wasted potential.
  12. Not worth it.
  13. Yeah, even though it would be years before a show made the second in command of anything important (if Star Trek TNG didn't start it, please tell me), he still had a big responsibility in the fleet. Like in "Fire in Space." Edit: There was Number One in the original Star Trek pilot.
  14. That's something J T talked about on his show, and I'm starting to agree with it. What he and others do on a daily basis IS dangerous on a lot of levels for everyone.
  15. It sounds like wasteful spending to me. HG went through all that trouble to keep the word "Macross" and the iconic ship under their control. As for the UN Spacy, it was for that kite insignia representing the first generation of the RDF which got replaced two times anyway. But since they're not able to do any kind of production for the franchise at the moment, what can they do with it? Sell useless crap: http://www.robotech.com/store/viewcategory.php?id=7 http://www.robotech.com/store/viewcategory.php?id=10 You know those high prices they're asking for? That's mostly for the trademarked symbols.
  16. And with that thinking, BW may not see the Robotech LAM as big a threat to their rights at the moment to go pursue anything.
  17. Seriously? You don't see it in what you've been doing for a while now? Fine, whatever. Just one word Memo, "fandom politics," remember that? Ask your contacts in HG, since they're a big part of it and you're really close to them.
  18. Laying thick on the moral high ground thing there Memo. At the end of the day you're still the one with the power and authority in your sphere of influence. And you're responsible for Seto's and other people's unique situation in one way or another. Sometimes you sound like a politician.
  19. This would make sense if you actually practiced what you preach. I guess MW is better in avoiding the drama that's plagued your site because of the way it's been organized. You call this restrictive, I call this good forum design to avoid unnecessary crap.
  20. You bring up a good point, considering the way he has positioned himself. He does avoid the very serious issues about the situation for something more overly optimistic or favorable. But what do you expect from someone who walks the thin line between being a fan and wanting to be... something more?
  21. He's going to make our lives a living hell next year, isn't he?
  22. He's probably not going to read this anyway, knowing him, but he's ignoring context and the delivery of the label by certain people, maybe even from himself in some circumstances.
  23. A little mistake I wrote, some of the other denominations for the fandom have been given the shaft by HG, not M purists directly. They can only do so much legally.
  24. I think I saw him at a convention a few years ago. Unfortunately, he didn't get as much attention as Richard Hatch at the same con.
  25. At least to Justy Ueki, they're just Purists. This is what I found from the old RDF Underground website: http://www.rdfpodcast.com/node/773 Purist (1985 TV Broadcast Only) McKinneyist (The Novels) Spanglerist (The Eternity/Academy Comics) RPGer (The Palladium RPG) Macek-ist (Carl Macek is God) Yunie (Tommy Yune's word is law) Universalist (I love Robotech and it's many facets) And of course: Macross Purist (Macross all the way/Why am I on a Robotech site?) Still, it's just one guy's semi-serious poll, but if this is true, fans love to label people. I've also seen people use 85er, probably the most obscure of them I've heard recently. Content-wise, I think the Macross Purist stacks above the rest since some of them have been openly shafted by HG in recent years.
