  1. No offense to anyone here, but I don't think WB would go to that extreme just for Macross, even on the behalf of HG. They might spend a lot of money to make Studio Nue and etc. happy for specific things for the LAM, but not for everything Macross. They just need SDFM and maybe DYRL. The first movie alone sounds like a risky investment. HG has more incentive to go through it to keep their franchise intact.
  2. I assume that with Gatchaman, despite the differences that have come about from various versions of it, there's still some working relationship between the various companies that had a hand in it to revive the series now. It's a better situation than with Robotech, where there's definitely no friendly relations between the creators of the most popular portion of the show and the people claiming it to be theirs. HG/WB is really forced to make a loose Western Reinterpretation of the original story or leave it alone and go beyond it.
  3. Would an additional commentary track for the series even be appropriate? It would be done by same people everyone knows, talking about stuff they really did not have a hand in creating. It would have to be droving on about Robotech, it's creation, bagging on the originals, and the hows and whys everything the viewers are watching turned that way for Robotech. Though, it might give people answers to the those plaguing mysteries people are always asking about, like that Protoculture kissing response, what "Get a job," meant, and the other things people have brought up here. Does anyone remember Captain Future? I heard HG worked on a dub for at least four episodes, but I never knew how it turned out or what happened with it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Future#Anime
  4. I thought it was good, even with all the parallels to older movies.
  5. I remember that, even with cable you had to pay extra money for that station, if it was even available in your part of the world at the time. With Manga, they're doing it for free and taken away the incentive for customers and the company to release it on DVD again. Going Blu-Ray and giving some extra commentary from the cast and crew is pretty much the only thing new anyone can offer.
  6. I think Manga Entertainment is able to show Robotech legally because they were the ones who were given the rights to release it in the UK and Europe (ADV didn't have a UK division to release the DVDs there). When ADV folded, Robotech became Manga's by default and they were free to add it to the catalog of shows available online until something else comes along. I'm thinking this would not have happened if ADV was still around, since it was a real big hit for the medium. Plus, no one is willing to re-release the series again now that they're gone, heck, it might not even be worth it to do release another identical version again, unless people are hoping WB will decide to do it eventually.
  7. HG lost, but they're not dead yet. They'll use their influence as much and as long as they still can for profit or bust. The LAM was supposed to be one if they other unaffiliated talented people ever get to work on it. Since they've "strategically" put all current projects on hold for it, there's extreme pressure building for them if results don't come in soon. It's the kind of thing that destroys reputations.
  8. I wonder how his presence is going to change the Star Wars universe?
  9. Yup, but yellow/gold.
  10. I had a feeling that something would have to be compromised for all the graphics they were showing off over the years.
  11. Knowing how HG works, their claim doesn't matter because they're not American. It's their realm by name association and region, which means everywhere outside of Japan. I've seen wall scrolls in anime stores with Hikaru's Strike Valkyrie with the Robotech logo. Either people in general are still confused by the differences or HG and Toynami are perpetuating it with stuff like the Stealth Veritech recently. It was inevitable that they would be selling a regular version after the convention special. That's one of the few "new" products they were able to come up with this year.
  12. Yeah, what was seen of the Octos in Zero was pretty cool. I wish they expanded on it a little more from what it could do. http://www.new-un-spacy.com/macrosszero/octos.htm It almost looks similar to a red Vajra.
  13. I know, I meant any kind of negative stigma that could come out of it, as people here have been moving towards.
  14. I don't blame glane21 for the comic book, it was really just a job he was commissioned to do at one time.
  15. I have not been keeping track of Final Fantasy XIII at all, but this is discouraging. Has both spoilers and NSFW:
  16. Destroy All Podcasts did a review for the comic book, but they also mentioned that they were going to have an episode interviewing that guy sometime.
  17. The Tactical Battle Pod looks decent, if I'm looking at it right. The Excalibur looks like it can give people the finger at any time thanks to the arm cannon. Oh, and it has no head. Those are thrusters coming out of the back of the Battle Pod's arms, not guns right?

  19. Except for characters and concepts that no longer exist in the current story, it still sounds the same Seto. Scott and Ariel could be adequate replacements to Zor and Minmei in a new End of the Circle ending. Why? Who knows, I blame what's come before and after as HG making it up as they go. ...Protoculture chariots... He used Memo very well this year for attention. In a fandom that doesn't rely on fact checking, I don't think Memo knows yet how much Doug hated him for years before and after they got together. He really showed no mercy when Memo wore the Fish Head hat at one Comic Con. But this is a clear example of irony (if the prediction of who's who recently is true). http://www.robotech.com/community/forum/re...genumber=15#top They're both using each other for their own agendas.
  20. You should watch Ancient Discoveries on the History Channel.
  21. So that's how it really ended? If so, then one could interpret Shadow Chronicles as skipping a lot of material towards the same end. They just had to either kill off or put a lot of characters on a bus to do it. Then, once the whole things were cleared up in Shadow Rising, the real revival of Robotech was supposed to start. It works if you look at Robotech as a comic book, where anything can be retconned on a whim. Unfortunately, it was a cartoon first, and before that an edited cartoon, but now run by a guy who used to be in the comic book industry. And he's the only real talent behind it these days.
  22. The Noid. http://www.tvacres.com/admascots_noid.htm
  23. I did that already Keith. With stuff like Protoculture powered chariots and the like, I'd really want to see HG try to make good on these ideas and be taken seriously. I'd settle for pictures if available. He even loudly hates certain aspects of his franchise and the people running it. For all the stuff he talks about, he'll never be satisfied by the thing he's defending, so there is no point in any of it.
  24. Guess I've found one of the only people in the Internet who's really obsessed about Seto Kaiba. He's definitely a Dueler. Anyone know of good sources where to find info on these Sentinels aliens? I'm really curious how they contribute to the grand Robotech storyline, especially the space Amazons, seriously. I hope they weren't intentionally created as fetish fuel for someone.
