  1. The HG version would have Lynn Kyle sounding like an A-hole as usual, but actually be a serious threat from HG to everyone thinking about Macross.
  2. As advertised on Sy-Fy, Snakes... on a Sub! Silent Venom
  3. That relationship really needs to end soon, it's getting very uncomfortable and unprofessional (MEMO wants to be treated like one, right?). I do not doubt that they have a lot of ideas and material to make a new show. But how are they supposed to make one without the proper money or facilities to make one? Hire another DR Movie? Gonna cost more money than they could ever have. Remember, Tommy Yune is the only talent and resource they have beyond legalities.
  4. They should have animated that part, rather than force people to buy supplemental material just to understand the "current" outing for Robotech.
  5. Yeah, it's Emil Lang, he's looks completely different in the Sentinels episodes and more Russian, or whatever nationality they were trying to get for him. It's on youtube.
  6. I think it's Edward Lang. I recognize his character design from The Sentinels. Also, the Alpha on the Prelude graphic novel is also the Alpha being used for the 25th anniversary emblem.
  7. I'll bite; what's the hook that will make people buy this again? If it's just the original comic books from 3-4 years ago now combined, trying to vindicate Shadow Chronicles again by being more readily available, why bother? You're left with two parts of an uncompleted story with questionable roots from a retcon and a questionable future from a sequel on hiatus. Plus, it's made from some unknown guy trying to imitate Mikimoto and etc. without getting sued.
  8. Oh okay, that's easy then... It's the Internet. What else would you expect from here?
  9. There are still a lot of things preventing people from learning the difference; the HG veil is still in effect, not everyone is tech savvy enough to know how to use bit-torrent or any file sharing system or video service requiring additional plug-ins, people have been strongly advised not to buy pirated or non-region coded shows/movies to help the industry, they haven't seen evidence of these things conveniently in their local electronics/video store, downright manipulation, etc. I've noticed that this is one of those things on the Internet you really have to actively seek out, like finding info on the Robotech novels without helping feed the beast. Then again, having to watch something inherently foreign but not spoken in a more common language like English or without subtitles is a big turnoff for a lot of people.
  10. I bet he adopted the businessman and visionary persona only when he found out his creation was a big success, at least initially. It could explain the spectacular failures he had with Robotech and other projects later, like his Captain Harlock edit. It almost sounds like the Peter Principle.
  11. That's already happened, it's just an unfortunate cycle that repeats itself these days.
  12. For anyone with a PS3, the first hour of the pilot is available free from the Playstation Store, TV Shows>Free Shows.
  13. All that drama he caused and now he's losing faith in HG's/Tommy Yune's/MEMO's Robotech? What a waste, especially now that it looks like he started off being uninformed and manipulated by certain people.
  14. It probably supports the reason why Shadow Chronicles was chosen as part of the emblem for the 25th anniversary. By the way, it originates from this: It would be awkward if they used the VF-1 when Macross used it for their 25th anniversary recently, despite the blackout HG placed on it. And of course, to them Southern Cross doesn't sell. Shadow Chronicles/Mospeada is the only thing that helps Robotech stand out these days.
  15. Maybe whoever is doing the remake is sticking closer to the original version than the Arnold films. Conan was a beefy guy, but he was also intelligent in warfare, languages and even thievery. Heck, he eventually became a king. They might be highlighting those parts of his character this time around.
  16. At most, she only does this for HG in American convention panels. It hints that Robotech is struggling with an identity crisis these days.
  17. I just thought this was funny. The Lost Characters of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom Good save Capcom, don't need unnecessary drama for that game.
  18. It's a good thing then that Gil is almost worthless in the game. In fact, there are a lot of staples in the franchise that became useless in VIII if you used the GFs, magic, and card game effectively; Gil, the item command, Chocobos, level grinding, etc.
  19. Unless WB is actually hiding news of progress for the LAM or HG on Shadow Rising, she doesn't need to say anything that will ruin what she has going with them. At this point it won't change anything with Robotech or HG's situation. Their actions, or inaction, these days says enough, especially for the last two years facing the dirty little secret they couldn't contain in Japan. Yeah, that was my cynical self-righteousness side versus my cynical business/economic side in conflict. Business won tonight.
  20. Yeah, my problem at first was the principle of the whole thing, but I'm not going to criticize her for it. A job is a job. When you think about it, HG/ADV at one time banked on her to help promote a product, paid her to do the dub and continue to pay her to appear at Robotech related events. That's right, for the sake of argument, HG's spending money they could be using for something important for the Robotech franchise, like Shadow Rising or better quality merchandise, to hire and promote Mari Iijima to get Macross fans' attention at conventions. It's their money, she might as well enjoy it.
  21. I don't know, from what I've heard that's tame compared to the Robotech version(s). Some of it doesn't sound like fan service either, just downright alarming and unnecessary for drama. Even more so if you believe the idea that material from the novels were supposed to be animated at one point.
  22. I can understand if to her it's business, but sometimes I really hope she knows what Robotech eventually did to Linn Minmei (notice the spelling) in all the different interpretations that came out over the years.
  23. Back in the day, I thought VIII's story was good, but now only the love theme actually makes sense anymore. My opinion of the game has gone down ever since, especially when thinking back on the demo for it. It made you think you're going to be playing as bad @ss mercenaries, but when you got the game, you're really playing as high schoolers trained to act like mercenaries. The point I'm making is after the initial wow factor that the game could give people, a lot of the big and small screw ups are bound to come up. It may not be a good, consistent story or game the more you think about it.
  24. There was a lot of money spent adding unnecessary additions to entice people into buying it again. But you forget the biggest hook of all for the ADV release; Mari Iijima. It's tanking was a forgone conclusion from the costs of doing it all again. And speaking of Mari Iijima, when was she ever relevant to Robotech outside of Macross, and that dub? She's joining the 25th anniversary bandwagon for certain convention tour stops. http://www.robotech.com/community/forum/re...&forumid=34
  25. Hmm, like that recent Answerman segment explaining the situation with the Macross franchise, Macek ignored the Animeigo release. What gives?
