  1. Blu-Ray region codes and a tiny little English subtitle function on the discs is all they really need to challenge HG. It's still forcing people to buy Macross from the source, but that small change is enough to make it more accessible to people.
  2. You should have been here when MEMO talked about consulting lawyers from work about the legalities of Robotech and Macross. Hearsay is never proof. I still have a copy of the PM, in fact. That gave a hint of how reliable a source of information he really was.
  3. I watched The Shadow with Alec Baldwin recently, I never realized how much of a large ham he was in it. The echo effect for his voice didn't help either.

  5. I think these days individual fans are becoming more and more replaceable to the creative team to meet certain goals in exchange for very little risk.
  6. There's medals you can get for in-game achievements though. But it only unlocks after playing through part of the game.
  7. I'm not sure what to think about a retcon or revival to Robotech. There is a chance, especially in the new, unexplored territories that they want to go to, that a lot of the ideas are just going to be coming out of the creator's butts to keep fans' interest. Unfortunately, that's probably the situation Robotech is currently in now, ideas coming out of untalented people's butts and calling it epic. All in all, no one wins when a creative team is forced to be imaginative with a story with additional content for any particular reason, especially when it isn't planned well in advance and you didn't even create the damn material you started with in the first place.
  8. For anyone who has played Bioshock 2
  9. I think people are forgetting a very important question even before thoughts of going anywhere with Robotech in any form can realistically start; how are they going to animate it and where are they going to get the resources to fund it? In fact, who wants to work with HG besides WB and Tatsunoko, who they have only distinct relationships with at the moment?
  10. I thought the connection made with that Italian prime minister years ago was dropped thanks to the statue of limitations.
  11. There's also not letting a certain person who has a lot of connections (a liability in this case) within the fandom know about your project and decide it's a good idea to promote it on their site for the benefit of the franchise's 25th anniversary.
  12. That source given exclusive access wouldn't be the Space Station Liberty podcast, would it? Perhaps not just RT fan projects, but Macross fan projects as well, since in some circles they are still considered the same thing and they trademarked the hell out of it almost everywhere except in Japan.
  13. To protect the amount of time and effort people have invested in fan projects, maybe creators should think twice about directly promoting their stuff in places like rt and rtx.com no matter the quality. Unless you go through the trouble of submitting stuff at rt.com and accepting their terms, everyone is at risk.
  14. I'm just waiting for them to have another "spontaneous" interview on Space Station Liberty one of these days, as in a state of the franchise speech.
  15. If anyone is able to contact someone from UEG, please refer them to Chilling Effects. It's better than nothing. http://chillingeffects.org/
  16. Here's what I want to know; a fan project that people have been working on and which the trademark holders never paid attention to for years suddenly gets into legal trouble and given a C&D out of nowhere? If HG was going to do this anyway, why did they let work on this go on for so long? They were in constant communication with the fandom for years and they could have done something years in advance. I guess I'm asking what changed between then and now to change their minds? Because it got advertised on rtx.com? HG does not deserve the love and passion these people definitely had for the franchise they made and call their own.
  17. Ok, that is just too creepy for me. I'll just go out and say it; I, Einherjar, have never had an account on rt.com or rtx.com, and I never intend to. I get all my information from just observing other people, and honestly, you do not even need to interact with anyone in those places to get a sense of what's happening there at all. The ones really doing the damage for that franchise are those non-official "in the know" people desperately trying to save it.
  18. The question now is how reliable is vinyl, or in this case Toynami vinyl.
  19. So today in one of my classes the topic was corporate social responsibility. Then, this happens. http://www.robotechx.com/news/54-toys-coll...e-reissues.html Honestly, how did anyone NOT see this coming? Also, how many people was MEMO able to motivate to actually buy this POS? http://www.robotech.com/community/forum/re...&forumid=23 What an a-hole.
  20. No way, Rick Hunter was more hardcore. He was going to nuke the Earth if they failed to save it, again. War crimes? Those are civvies' problems.
  21. Is that genuine or are they associating Sheryl as similar to another character in Robotech? Or at least as a potential descendant to one of them? Can't be Minmei, since everyone in the fandom and Carl Macek hates her.
  22. How is anyone supposed to take that thread seriously? You have one guy who has an unhealthy obsession with Southern Cross who calls it vapid and stupid because it's not Southern Cross (but nothing will realistically be like Southern Cross again ever) and at least two moderators who may like it to a fault, but because of relationships they've made themselves with "powerful" people, they're unreasonably bias to keep their standing. They drown out everyone else who are really trying to understand Frontier. But honestly, that is not the best place to talk about that topic.
  23. That's what I've been saying. Give him or anyone in HG a blank canvas to do something original for Robotech, or finally remake it so it's truly original, and see if their talents can really match what they've always been taking credit for. The Sentinels, 3000, and Shadow Chronicles is already an example of that.
  24. I was trying to be fair and balanced about it. If I wanted to be more truthful about the kind of people involved who created the Robotech phenomenon, well, it may turn gut wrenching whether or not its hearsay or the truth.
  25. So only when it suits the situation, since the misconception that Robotech and Macross is still the same thing continues. And much by just him. But it doesn't sound like it should work, since there is definitely no friendly relationship between the two products even on a professional level.
