It's just a whole mess of people with entitlement issues and very little talent. When they have new original ideas, they can't do anything about it without compromises, leaving chumps with the same issues trying to stall for them.

Caprica! Dynasty Meets BSG

The first Cylon is probably making an appearance on The Soup this Friday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeB9GWZLpRM -
Not surprised, these days people don't even know where Chile is, and such as. Watch in 480p

Hmm, something that's probably very strong but lacks mobility because of those little feet. You know what would be the perfect defense against something like that? A mecha sniper rifle.

That was justified, though. He ended up screwing with people for a long time claiming a lot of crap. It's the closest thing to their parallel in recent memory.

You know, shills get paid for doing what they do, and these guys do it for free. They need to ask for something more tangible than getting the privilege to try to be moderators for websites. It makes them look like chumps.

It's hard to make a fair comparison between Shadow Chronicles and Frontier because one of them hasn't even been completed story-wise yet. One of the advantages Shadow Chronicles has is the potential of where the story could go from here. One of the big selling points people make are thinking of are improving all the weak points that critical people made about the first one and bringing back the epic-ness of the whole thing. But that potential will probably always be better or more ambitious than what the continuation actually turns out to be, if it even comes out. Come on, it's HG. And since a lot of people have been doing this for a long time, aren't they setting themselves to be disappointed as time goes on? Of course with people like MEMO and Mav, they willingly put themselves in the position. They're still waiting patiently for HG to vindicate them for all the crazy things they've been saying about Robotech for all these years. If they insist in making those holes they're digging themselves into deeper than they already are, let them.

Like they actually care about Itano, or who he or anyone Japanese who worked on the various parts of Robotech is. Carl Macek and Tommy Yune made everything, remember?
-
Yeah, a sniper rifle makes more sense than some vaguely defined Shadow Technology, which you need to spend money on additional material just to get a decent explanation for. But it's useless anyway, since it was really made to screw with humans, again, and then replaced with a vaguely defined Super Alpha or whatever. At least the sniper rifle shows its worth.

I'll settle for space whales and sniper mechs any day. At least I'll get to see an entire storyline within my lifetime and move on to other things like the rest of the world. It's not a life long investment.

I don't think his reasoning needs to be analyzed, he said that because he knows someone is watching that place.

I thought telling people they had ADD or a Peter Pan syndrome for having legitimate concerns on a regular basis for Robotech was more effective. But, I guess I'm too stupid to understand.
-
Wow, you really believed a lot of things that came out of MEMO's mouth, didn't you?
-
Since the original Robotech saga continued and ended through the novels, though it's not really sure how much involvement Carl Macek had in those, wouldn't that count as the equivalent to what Tommy Yune has done? The books giving expanded and different explanations of the events of the original episodes could count as a retcon in the same way, wouldn't it? Though, I guess people blame that more on Jack McKinney than Macek. And then HG let some of those crazy comic book stories pass through even though quality control for them wasn't a priority at the time. To me, recently I've been seeing more of it, and it's just becoming more and more sad that people are only finding out about these real apparent flaws about Robotech now. It's like Everyone who has ever been affiliated with HG willingly misled these people for 25 years, and they still stand by that decision today.
-
Being the creative director for the franchise, a lot of people blame Tommy Yune for where Robotech is now. But shouldn't some of the blame also be put on other people like Carl Macek? Although technically he made his own continuation and ending through secondary material, what he's been doing and saying all these years about Robotech also helped bring it where it is now.

New macross saga based movie (Robotech Genesis)

I know that the announcement on rtx.com was edited by MEMO. Maybe they were coached into saying that to avoid additional trouble. -
In making a connection with what azrael said with legal disputes starting after volume 4 came out, I have a strong suspicion that it did cost Macross Zero an episode. It kind of makes sense, the beginning of episode 5 felt like they compressed a lot of material from an additional episode to bring the whole thing to a conclusion. The story did move abruptly from the firebombing of the Mayan island from the previous episode, to finding all those Protoculture artifacts, and then Sara and Aries being whisked away suddenly in less than 5 minutes.

I understand, it's just that "off" people seem to be common these days. And it had, supposedly, 5+ years of personal labor invested in it to be turned down, despite painstakingly reminding everyone about the intent for the whole thing. Especially with this franchise, that's enough time to make an honest evaluation of how things were going to go when others took the plunge before them for similar fan situations. -
I brought this up a long time ago, but could HG have had a role in how long it took Macross Zero being completed? Of course, when they were making that, it was both ambitious and trying to push the envelope with CGI. But it still took a long time to finish that a lot of things could have happened behind the scenes.

Is he still a super hardcore supporter of all of this after being chewed out by the source? -
He could just put all of that information on a blog, making him the focal point for everything without all the theatrics that already happens. But where would the interaction with other fans be besides the feedback which can be deleted at will for any particular reason? He has to give the illusion that the site is still "by fans for fans." I think it's already clear that he's really just a huge fanboy trying to get into HG's graces or a shill who is not rewarded at all for his work. He's not even rewarded with official progress from the creative team to back up all the claims he's ever made about Robotech. He's stuck advertising old crap that people are going to be disappointed in and just stalling for them. Oh, and pot shots at a separate successful franchise because of legalities, which only he can really talk about.

I think they should have just shifted their work to a Macross fanfilm away from the original series long ago, since certain people have issues with a property with a name they created. It is the big reason why they and many other people out there liked the series so much to do projects to show their appreciation. BW, Bandai Visual, etc. probably would not have given a crap about it, especially the no profit part. They're doing just fine making their own money and would have welcomed it. Heck, they let Astro Plan go. -
You forgot to mention a lot of the "new comics" were actually trying to expand on small scenes directly from the Macross Saga to make them more significant/dramatic. "From the Stars" exists only because of that flashback scene Claudia had about her first meetings with Roy near the end of the series. In fact, that entire scene was redone near the end of the story. They (Tommy) created an engrossing/convoluted story from just that scene. The same can be said about "Love and War," which made an elaborate story behind the scenes of the original cartoon revolving around Max and Milia's duels ending with the knife fight. Interestingly, it made Milia more hardcore. If they were given the chance to go on, I think the new comics were going to make the Macross Saga look more like all those stories that have been added to the One Year War of Gundam; to make it the longest war/year ever.

This is gone and Astro Plan gets to go on, for profit and everything. Crazy priorities, ain't it? -
I agree, this isn't the 80s anymore. No one would let HG get away with that, and it would probably be a step down from what they're trying to tell people about the franchise. Well, except maybe for MEMO, but still.
